I just finished editing a 2 hour and 45 minute mega update video. Decided to delay the upload for a week because i alternated languages between French and English for each of the 15 talking points so it doesn't make sense to publish without custom subtitles. I make quality content and I'm proud of it. The views and subs will follow.
I’m mentally exhausted from TH-cam. I’m burned out. It’s becoming a full time job along with my full time, high pressure job. I can’t get my lighting right. Natural light is plentiful then it bounces around and causes bad quality. Thank you for trying to help all of us trying to make it
Mona, keep in the game. I completely understand where you are at. I started a new channel Feb22, 2023. So this February marks 2 years. In that time, I've change employment a few times (contractor), and my latest contract I started in Dec 2023, had me out of the house 12 hours a day. I've continued making content, but in a reduced capacity, because I was posting five videos a week before hand. I found my balance at 1 video per week. Next, I had to overcome the challenges you are, lighting, sound, story telling, etc. A funny thing happened along the way, and I think Brian has been reflecting on these things, I found on the other side of burn out, clarity, forgiveness when I can't get it done, and I became much more laser focused. I focused on trying to fix just 1% of my videos each time. Now, my channel has begun to take off again because my numbers fell into a pit when I stopped posting as much and tried shorts - but that's another story. I still have no idea what juices the TH-cam algo, other than the fact if your conversion rate and watch time is higher in the first few hours, you will see more traction. But even there, I'm not 100% entirely sure. But I also know that youtubers in my space, with perseverance will get views in the 10's of thousands per video. I believe then I will see a real return on my efforts. So I'm committed for the next four years, up to my 65th birthday, to hunker down and get it done. I wish you Mona the same success and realize that this is a time game. Don't expect to see raving success for at least four years. I think if you put that into your mind, and also realize the reward could be a full-time salary from making videos in the long run, you may find that you can get all in. I wish you all the luck in the world Mona and I'll check out your channel!
Your lighting is great, Mona! It’s perfect for the style of your videos. Lighting like Brian’s takes a lot of work. Heck, my lighting took me forever to figure out and my lighting is really simple looking. If you want to improved your lighting, you can find a ton of great videos on TH-cam about it. That’s where I learned all my lighting stuff :)
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks Brian! Great discussion! I was at the point yesterday where I was going to stop this madness! Upload everything and give it a week, then press delete. Hesitant now. Haha!
I love your message to creators (and those thinking about creating)! No matter how long you've been doing TH-cam, these are issues we all struggle with! Thanks so much!
Brian, Thank you SOOOOO much for this video!!!! I just started my channel and I have been wondering "should I keep going". I do....I keep trying....and seeing your video keeps me moving forward! I know that one day I will be AMAZING at all the things that go into a channel, but at least I am trying! So I made sure to bookmark this video to come back to in those times that I feel like giving up!!! Again......THANK YOU!!!!!!
I had a bunch of hang ups and suffered from burn out for a while, recently, I decided to go back to just enjoying consistently creating content, and not stress about it anymore.
Another great reflective video. Your ideas get me excited for TH-cam. I especially love your advice to change one little thing with each video. Thanks Brian.
Yes = NO REGRETS! I decided to work with YT as a pathway to curate my body of knowledge and skills for others to enjoy. While I have books in the National Library of Canada --- that written, I see my videos staying here for awhile ))smiles And so - hitting record!!!! ONwaord!
Thank you Brain for sharing your feelings and struggles with us! It can feel lonely and exhausting on YT sometimes, but knowing we’re all in it together makes it a bit easier 😂❤ closing crew ! 🎉
Daisy is always a pleasure to see your smiling face. Yes TH-cam can sure be lonely. Living alone and working for myself makes a challenge for sure. Yet it is also so very rewarding. Onwards we go into the 2025!
I struggle with keyword research 😢 I am self-taught on everything I do, all learned from mentors like you on TH-cam. Everyday I get better. Happy Thanksgiving 🎉
I started my channel as a silent vlog because I didn't have the confidence to speak on camera. Over time I've got more confident and happy that I can now speak on camera. My channel has evolved and I'm learning to get better each time 😊
Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the other end-of-the-year holidays coming up in the next month. I don't think I suck, actually I think I do pretty well on camera, and my thumbnails are getting better. I have over 900 videos uploaded since November 2020 and have 410 subscribers. I have come to terms with apparently having a narrow niche. I'm not giving up, either creating videos or living by my convictions (which affects the types and ways I create videos). I lost a very well-paying job last September, and my wife and I are just on Social Security at the moment. I decided to try to get into voice over work doing audiobooks since October. I am now editing my fourth audiobook and continuing with my TH-cam channel. I'll be 68 in April. I can't tell you how many times in my life I have had to "start over." We just have to keep moving forward and not be paralyzed by fear or the past. Your channel is a great encouragement to me and to others as well.
I learned a long time ago that I'll never be perfect. Now I just try to be better today than I was yesterday, make my next video better than my last, and most of all - just try to be a good human. Sometimes I'm even successful 😂
Never stop posting I posted 23 videos last month which was the best I ever did but I stoped a few days and couldn’t start again… but I’m going off to make one right now because of this video ❤❤❤❤❤
Great video, thank you for the words you are my mentor. Being mentally stable and a creator is what I'm struggling with. I think you have to be little nuts to be a creator on TH-cam.
You may be onto something. But you can decide for yourself if you’re just a little bit cuckoo in order to continue. I like the way that sounds. You gotta be cuckoo to continue.
This is really inspiring Brian, thanks! Like this morning I’m standing in the 45 degree rain at sunrise waiting to film freight trains here on the East Coast. I do have a great job, but I just keep pushing forward with my content. Hi from camera 2 👋👋 You are great on air talent, relaxed, comfortable and interesting to listen to. 👍 Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I love the Prince Shrine 😎
Happy thanksgiving. Trick to keep relationships IMO is not to put it on FB. I find FB to be one big jinx for relationships. The amount of times I seen people post “in a relationship with…” and they break up the following week is ridiculous. Good work 👍🏼
No regret? I try to live that way too. Now, I should have a regret or two as a wanna be a TH-camr but I dont have time. It’s not because I am crushing it. It is because I live vicariously through you. Haha 😂 Aloha
Enjoyed that one Brian, my Channel helps people to learn how to build flying planes, the income pays for my hobby, the hobby gives me pleasure, I make more videos and the circle keeps going, what a great thing TH-cam is 👍
Happy Thanksgiving! I almost always have to watch parts and sometimes all of your videos, twice because I see something in the background, and I lose my thoughts on what you are saying or you say something that makes me stop and think about it and if it is about analytics, I have to open mine up in a new tab to follow along. One of the things I've learned over the last few years of creating videos is, the hardest thing about creating a video is, just actually hitting record. Now for a couple of off topic questions...hahaha What's the piece of blue tape for that is on your desk? Where are you setting your lights to make you bright and your background dark? Here at my main work desk, I have a desk lamp, and I turn it on to brighten myself up some and turn off the ceiling light but my background that is about 7 or 8 feet away is lit up fairly bright too. I do my livestreams from my workstation that I am talking about. I've actually got like a conference camera mounted on a pole behind my computer monitor that I do the livestreams on. It does not have settings like my Canon does so there isn't much I can do to adjust the aperture and such. So I'd like to figure out how to keep me lit but darken my background. Any suggestions? Sorry for the long comment.....
the blue tape is to center myself in the frame ;-) The dark background look, very low ISO setting on my camera of 100, this way the background is darker as the light from my softbox falls off.
to try to create a dark look in the background you want to begin with a room that’s very dark and then you wanna have a light that only lights you the further away the background is the more dark it’s gonna be. Furthermore it is helpful to have settings on your camera that you can dial in. but you may want to start with trying to play around with the lights that you use my friend
Another great video Brian G. Thanks for all your help growing my channel.
Any time!
The encouragement I needed to finish my video and upload today. Editing I go. Thanks Brian!
You got this!
Very nice! It was personal and encouraging. It was nice of you to share.
Happy Thanksgiving, Brian and all who read this.
happy holidays to you too my friend.
It’s all about perseverance, determination and experimentation.
just keep pressing record, you will find it !!
Great video. Keep up the good work!
Well said!

wow! Big video you’re working on!!
Another cool idea is to create 1 minute shorts for each language to show different audiences what the main video is about.
Your were a chef; respect I was in the cooking industry.
challenging industry for sure.
It’s about You 😀
Will be back to watch the whole video tomorrow.
Just popped in to say hi early on.
Thanks for coming
Awesome sharing. Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy thanksgiving Brian!
Happy holidays!
Thank you for your videos! Happy Thanksgiving 🍁

Congrats on finding that joy of creating again, my friend friend. Sometimes taking a step back is really helpful.

can be, yes.

Yep, it’s like that. Sometimes you just need a break and to catch your breath. Enjoy the process.

"CLOSING CREW"
Thank you for this great advice. I do have a problem being on camera and im so so camera shy but ill try my best to get over it😅
It gets easier overtime, my friend.
Hello Brian, love your Channel. Trying to start a new channel, do you have any pointers.
Focus on making a video rather than starting a channel. Choose a niche make a video. Keep it simple my friend. Sending you peace and power.
Happy thanksgiving. Trick to keep relationships IMO is not to put it on FB. I find FB to be one big jinx for relationships. The amount of times I seen people post “in a relationship with…” and they break up the following week is ridiculous. Good work 👍🏼

no sir, not sure …
@ thanks man
How's your Kwanzaa coming along?
LOL
this video hit me hard ngl
Brian...i need your link to Opus Clip...
Kind of you, my friend. www.opus.pro/?via=dbc0d0
Thank you!
Are you reading a teleprompter?
No. In fact, I had zero script for this video. Just some thoughts in my head I spewed out.
@ I love it. I haven't finished the video yet but the closing crew is here for sure.
Dig
is it me- Does your voice sound different?
Probably just slightly different various levels on bass and treble when editing
@ maybe
