The case is Kashmira Singh vs State of MP, and as far as section 30 goes the confession of a co-accused may be considered. It's not mandatory at all, it's upto the court to consider it and henceforth may vary from situation to situation.
And also accused cannot be hanged to death on the basis of co-accused's confession in sec 30

State of U.P. as this is question which is most of the times asked in prelims. For reference Singhals solved papers of pre exams also Jus corpus law journal paper on "Critical analysis of section 27 of IEA act 1872". published 9 dec 2022 by Dr. Rishikesh Dave.
