Hazrat Abbas (a.s) was the son of Hazrat Ali (a.s) and step-brother of Imam Hasan (a.s) & Imam Hussain (a.s).
Alamedar- means Flagbearer
Hazrat Ali, who himself was known as the “Lion of God”, brought up Hazrat Abbas(a.s) and ably guided him until he was fourteen years old. The next ten years of Hazrat Abbas’s life were spent under the careful eye of Imam Hasan(a.s) , and the last ten years with Imam Hussain (a.s) . Thus it was no small wonder that Hazrat Abbas (a.s) acquired near perfection in so many aspects of life. His gallantry, boldness and courageous outlook were inherited from Hazrat Ali.(a.s).Imam Hasan (a.s) taught him patience and tolerance. His lion-hearted loyalty and self-sacrificing nature were the results of his association with Imam Hussain. (a.s)

Here's just a suggestion, while listening to Noha, Matam, Soz or Salam, please try not to smile or sway in happiness. Noha, Matam, Soz, Salam and Salam, are poetry of lamentation and mourning. It's not something to be happy, but it gives us the message of martyrdom..
Like for example, when we listen to the patriotic song like, *"Aye mere watan ke logo'n"* , do we smile or sway in happiness? No, right? Because iss gaane mein humare shaheedo'n ke qurbani ke baare mein kaha gaya hai, we feel proud of them, but not happy. We feel proud of what they did for our nation, but we cry and feel sad when we think of what they had to face and the sacrifices they made. Similarly, Noha Matam aur Soz waghaira mein bhi hum humare Karbala ke shaheedo'n ki shahadat aur qurbani ke baare mein batate hn, ek poetry form mein. So, it's something to invoke sorrow and not a smile. And that beating of the chest is called *"matam"*
