Cody, my challenge has always been to preserve the freshness of the plein air sketch on the larger studio pieces. I rarely go above 9x12 outdoors and very rarely try to "improve" the painting in the studio with details. That's the opposite of my methods but seems to work well for you based on what I see of your work online.
