I'm wishing I had fresh pollock. I've never actually tried it because where I'm from, pollock gets shipped to Japan or something and made into imitation crab. We used to be able to get fresh never frozen pacific true cod, and that's probably my number one fish to eat. They have it frozen, but that's never as good. Is there a secret to how they freeze them? Im guessing what you caught took a few servings to finish. And one other question, are you still using the bearskin jacket? I'm wondering if they're all they say they are. We don't always have to fish in cold weather, but atmospheric rivers have a bad habit of showing up about the time I'm able to fish, and salmon really get excited when the rain starts, and I hate to leave when that happens. I've been soaked to the skivvies on numerous occasions
Hi James. The jacket in the video is the bare skin! But like all these soft shell jackets, they need to be treated two or three times a year! That is something you're going to have to research yourself. So judging by your comments I would say you're either in Alaska or in BC. @Billyfishing_watch I spend most of my vacation in BC but I'm across the border in Washington state. The cod numbers have crashed in recent years, but the black cod took off. They live in really deep water so it's mostly commercial boats that target them. Alaska has a better chance for someone to intercept cod and plenty of other tasty fish.
