Everytime I watch one of these videos I wonder if one could do this by painting the knife with black paint, then using a laser etched to burn away the paint where you want to etch, or if the paint would melt with the heat. I guess ill have to try it myself. Just don't have anything I could think of that I need to etch.

Excellent work! & thanks for sharing your tips and tricks.
Have you tried paint masking in lieu of vinyl? wondering what type paint would work best, (I'm working on an old axe restauration)

Have you ever etched brass bolsters on a knife? I am wondering if the etchants and power settings would be the same or something entirely different?

I do not think electro etching will work on brass

I have done it on stainless bolsters

@@DIYeasycrafts I have not had success with brass in anyway. It will take the black color well. But I get absolutely no depth to the etch at all. Thank you for your reply! Enjoy your videos.

Hi, I noticed that your charger has a 10A and a 50A setting, what would happen if you used one of those setting to etch?

I started doing this with my old knives using a 9v battery and ear swabs

Save some money on batteries. Use a 12v DC power supply.

I have to gain some computer skills. I still do this by scraping off paint. That's 80% of the work! 😅
