I generally tend to like live versions more than studio versions! Coming from Kpop though, where there‘s often choreo or extensive stages involved, going straight to the live performance can make it overwhelming when you‘ve never heard the song and try to take it in at the same time with all the visual stuff 🙈
I know a large number of Dears (including me) that with this song he made us fall in love and following him no matter what. It's just such a beautiful, epic and intense arrangement and his voice sounds so outwordly and beautiful, I cried the first times. And yes he also is a very charming and charismatic man! maybe this song is not the ""best"" of all (hehe, every song is some kind of "best"), but this is the song that most people and reactors heard first, and it is probably the best to start with, like the first introductory chapter or the preface of a good book that gives just a first glimpse of what to expect, only to be able to surpass it again and again with each new performance of the same or other or new songs. btw: since we all have heard most of his songs multiple times, we shouldn't be annoyed by having lots of pauses or breaks for reactions IF the reactor skips back a bit to not miss any effects, runs, long breath, etc. and its better anyway instead of talking above the song and missing even more. at least I enjoyed these reactions. too bad that hearing him "for the first time" is only possible once, and thus the next best thing is to watch reactors and their true "first hearing" ...

It‘s a bit of a pet-peeve of mine 🙈 I went to movie school and wanted to get into movie editing before deciding against it later in life, so whenever I watch something I think how I would arrange the visuals - and there were so many moments he was actually using his hands expressively, so I was a little irritated they chose that moment, because it didn’t really „work“ for me 😅🙈 edit: *later in life! On this occasion he was a returning professional for a small pre-concert before the competition starts. He had picked up a huge following the previous year from the 2017 "I Am Singer" 13 week pro competition in China. I think his digital album in China just after the competition went triple platinum in less than a day, or maybe one hour. But his competition in the Slavic Bazaar is what got him the wild card entry in the Chinese competition. So he does a lot of thanks to the event that kick-started his career at the end of this song.

I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23. Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute. MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life: 1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God. Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. You migt like Love is like a dream where he shows a more low register in the start of the song and it's a ballad also.(Love of Tired Swans and Your Love can fit in this category). Olympico has a low register as well but is more operatic mixed with pop style. Ti amo Cosi is purely operatic and and he sings pure tenor style alongside with the soprano Aida Garifulina and the well known pop and ballad singer Lara Fabian, the three singers of Igor Krutoy the Russian master compositor of almost all of the songs they sing and this concert was given for Krutoy's 50th birthday.

Never thinking that he had what it takes to be a singer, he went tot he Ukraine to become a dentist. While there, he was convinced that he did have a great singing ability, thus transferred his major to music. Thank goodness he did. SOS d’un terrien en détresse is a French song from a French/Canadian rock musical called Starmania from the 1970s. It is a very sad and tragic song and begins with “Why do I live, why do I die? Why do I laugh, why do I cry?” Unfortunately, the sentiment is surrounding the subject of suicide and that doesn’t lend itself as well to the more built up section that you admired in the latter part of the song. I’m fortunate to be a Canadian in a more bilingual environment so I don’t need to use subtitles for the song, but I might recommend a listen through with the subs just to have a better understanding of the emotions that Dimash conveys so well with his voice. Of Dimash’s covers, I particularly like Sinful Passion... the feeling is different from SOS. Barely noticed the construction workers - hoping you’ve had the chance to watch Butter. So you have heard him in Khazak and English, this one is in French. His rendition on the Chinese show the singer really broke him out but this is just a festival but between the first and this you can hear several things, one is his voice is maturing, men's voices do not fully mature until late 20s to early 30s. His deep registers are forming and he tightened up his French to perfection.

I love this version of SOS, but I really prefer the one he did on The Singer. THAT, to me, is his all time best! Soud quality wise, performance wise, vocalswise, the only thing that's not better in the singer's version is his pronunciation of a couple of the french words. You’ll find that Dimash ALWAYS puts the song first, above all else, the end of the song is talking about a child sleeping. The song is a sad song about a man who has suicidal thoughts and he feels he doesn’t fit into the world. The song is in French. Dimash won this Slavic Bazaar competition in 2015, here he is back as a guest vocalist in 2018.
In many of his videos the cameras pan to Dimash's hands, because they kind of indicate what he is singing. He is very expressive with his hands when singing which Dears love. Nice reaction.

In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after this song Dimash captured the hearts of millions of viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to TH-cam... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. I generally tend to like live versions more than studio versions! Coming from Kpop though, where there‘s often choreo or extensive stages involved, going straight to the live performance can make it overwhelming when you‘ve never heard the song and try to take it in at the same time with all the visual stuff 🙈

maybe this song is not the ""best"" of all (hehe, every song is some kind of "best"), but this is the song that most people and reactors heard first, and it is probably the best to start with, like the first introductory chapter or the preface of a good book that gives just a first glimpse of what to expect, only to be able to surpass it again and again with each new performance of the same or other or new songs.
btw: since we all have heard most of his songs multiple times, we shouldn't be annoyed by having lots of pauses or breaks for reactions IF the reactor skips back a bit to not miss any effects, runs, long breath, etc. and its better anyway instead of talking above the song and missing even more. at least I enjoyed these reactions. too bad that hearing him "for the first time" is only possible once, and thus the next best thing is to watch reactors and their true "first hearing" ...

I discovered Dimash thru a reaction video and this was the same video SOS. My God, I'm tellin ya I got so f* hooked. I even watched his 1st virtual concert. I just love extremely talented men who are tall. He's the counterpart of Exo Kai in terms of dancing. Both have a way of conveying the message of the song. They interpret music in a magical, expressive and beautiful way thru singing and dancing respectively.

It‘s a bit of a pet-peeve of mine 🙈 I went to movie school and wanted to get into movie editing before deciding against it later in life, so whenever I watch something I think how I would arrange the visuals - and there were so many moments he was actually using his hands expressively, so I was a little irritated they chose that moment, because it didn’t really „work“ for me 😅🙈

He was a competitor the previous year in this competition of young artists at the Slavic Bazaar. On this occasion he was a returning professional for a small pre-concert before the competition starts. He had picked up a huge following the previous year from the 2017 "I Am Singer" 13 week pro competition in China. I think his digital album in China just after the competition went triple platinum in less than a day, or maybe one hour. But his competition in the Slavic Bazaar is what got him the wild card entry in the Chinese competition. So he does a lot of thanks to the event that kick-started his career at the end of this song.

I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning and imitating. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition.
The discipline, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his career the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living out our day to day life. His hard work for years is indeed bearing good fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a public listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the good content and message of its music.
The fact that, he is able to sing his music at maximum or more than 6 octaves with ease and comfort in different languages and in various voices is really amazing. But some others also cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they said Ooh… is Dimash human..? Alien..? The thoughts that I will be sharing below is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death)
SONG FACTS: The song is from French Rock Opera called Starmania. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23.
Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute.
MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life:
1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God.
Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed up of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow over time in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand.
Suffering reminds us the real fact that we are all fragile human beings; that we are limited and we are not God. Sufferings are human reality and consequences of sin that affects us all. It helps us see the real worth and value of things and meaning in life. It sharpens our awareness that this earth is not our permanent and true home. We should remember that we are only strangers and pilgrims on this earth”.
Suffering purifies and refines us of any life’s superficiality into an authentic one. Though no one really is actively searching for suffering in his / her life, but honestly truth compels us to admit that sufferings do have a great value in our life and by experiencing it personally in reality, you will never be the same person. But through the original sin that enters human lives, our nature has been wounded, and is now subject to suffering and death.
Death for us is a frightening mystery because we are being stripped off of all our attachments to this world; our body lies corrupt; our immortal soul goes to meet the Lord. We will see the whole truth of our lives. Death creates in us a feelings of fear, separation, sadness and pain.
Many times we evade this reality and we try to question and even argue with God why…? But all our efforts failed because whether we like it or not at the end, we all die. Death comes in our life anytime anywhere. No material things, good health, young age can guarantee of its extension. The truth is… in front of death we are all poor and powerless.
If this life were the only one we had, death would definitely be the great tragedy. Death is such a peaceful, joyful event in our life, if we die reconciled with God and at peace with others as well. Death is unknown to all of us, therefore, it is best that we should prepare at all times.

For those who love Dimash, another must see singer is Zhou Shen from China. Because of his small stature, feminine disposition and voice, he was often bullied in school. Never thinking that he had what it takes to be a singer, he went tot he Ukraine to become a dentist. While there, he was convinced that he did have a great singing ability, thus transferred his major to music. Thank goodness he did.

SOS d’un terrien en détresse is a French song from a French/Canadian rock musical called Starmania from the 1970s. It is a very sad and tragic song and begins with “Why do I live, why do I die? Why do I laugh, why do I cry?” Unfortunately, the sentiment is surrounding the subject of suicide and that doesn’t lend itself as well to the more built up section that you admired in the latter part of the song. I’m fortunate to be a Canadian in a more bilingual environment so I don’t need to use subtitles for the song, but I might recommend a listen through with the subs just to have a better understanding of the emotions that Dimash conveys so well with his voice. Of Dimash’s covers, I particularly like Sinful Passion... the feeling is different from SOS. Barely noticed the construction workers - hoping you’ve had the chance to watch Butter. Take care from Canada.
So you have heard him in Khazak and English, this one is in French. His rendition on the Chinese show the singer really broke him out but this is just a festival but between the first and this you can hear several things, one is his voice is maturing, men's voices do not fully mature until late 20s to early 30s. His deep registers are forming and he tightened up his French to perfection.

I love this version of SOS, but I really prefer the one he did on The Singer. THAT, to me, is his all time best! Soud quality wise, performance wise, vocalswise, the only thing that's not better in the singer's version is his pronunciation of a couple of the french words.
