File the knowledge you learned fishing dirty water away for future reference. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and squarebills are your friend in the wind. You did great!
Looks like you were using a northland reed runner spinnerbait, perfect conditions for it. They move pretty slow and look like a neon diner sign in that dark water. Try the Blackbird black and orange one. You would be surprised how good it works in stained and panic water. Good job on your videos!🐟
Great videos! Your intro made me laugh, I just got my first kayak and I'm driving a very unreliable van with 200k miles and no ac 😂 and I've been looking at the outback as a replacement, hope it's still serving you well.
Melissa Great North Face Tent! I LOVE camping and fishing. I also like your foul weather gear. No matter what, it looks like you will be nice and dry! I like the blue color. I have the same net and it is the best on the planet. it is perfect for any type of fishing. Your fishing channel is so relaxing and you are so upbeat about everything. Very refreshing! Thank you for this fishing adventure. I can't wait for the next one. Fish on Lady! 🐟🐟🐟🐟👍👍🌹
Oh how cool! Level 3, wow! I'm level 2 Alpine and level 1 Children's but I don't think I'll ever dive deep enough into the technical parts to get my level 3! I miss the Patagonia discount, I applied to be Patagonia pro-staff after PSIA switched to NF, but they rejected me because I wasn't "full time" at any outdoor pursuits.
@@GirlGoneFishing I have always been a die-hard NF fan. I still have everything I have ever bought from them and it's all like new. Back in the '80's, I was sponsored by the "Real" North Face before the Hilfiger NF. They asked me if I wanted some camping gear and I said yes. They sent me an 8 person expedition tent the same as they used on Everest! Retail at the time was like $4800. I never used it because it was too big. I asked my backcountry friends in Whistler BC if they wanted it to set up in the backcountry and they did. It's been there since 1994!! I've stayed in it 15 times and it looks like new. They bring it back down every April because that's when Whistler closes for skiing to the public. I was a Patagonia rep but it's not the gear for 4 days out in the backcountry where it's life or death. Fish on Melissa!! 👍👍🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
@@GirlGoneFishing sure do. Up where the Lily pads are. It Is def pretty shallow. Deer Creek feeds it from the north and you can catch some nice sun/pam fish, and some Largies too. The nature at that lake is so beautiful.
I was thinking, wish you would throw a spinnerbait and next thing I know you're landing two keepers on one! Wonder how'd it went for you if you'd started with a spinnerbait that morning, nice job👊
I had a spinnerbait in the rotation through most of the day, but it was a chartreuse with hammered gold blades, and I started getting bit when I finally switched to the one with painted chartreuse blades. And now we'll never know if that switch would have worked earlier or if the bite just turned on at 2pm.
Keep on grinding Girl Gone - the conditions were not good windy - muddy water - you have to adjust on the fly in a tourney glad the spinner worked for you🎣👊👍
Awesome video! I heard spinnerbait does good in muddy waters and wind. I'm not a spinnerbait person either but I got one tied on for this morning. This year its been Big Joshy swimbaits and Yamamoto senkos black/blue wacky hitting everything for me. Ditch the tent , camp in the Outback. Saves time and space lol
I live within 15 minutes of Alum Creek and it can be tough fishing when the water is up and muddy like that. That was a great choice on the spinnerbait and the painted blades do make a difference! I was taught when the water is that muddy to use a colorado blade for more thump, just wanted to share to be helpful. Glad that you had fun and did good! Safe travels and hope you come back and fish Alum Creek again and you might want to try Hoover Reservoir which is about 20 minutes east of Alum Creek and it is a 10hp restricted lake which is perfect for kayak fishing! :)
Thanks for the info! Hoover was also allowed in this tournament but my understanding is it is better in the heat of summer and the guys who fished it for the tournament didn't place well, but I'm going to check it out this summer!
The upper end has always skunked me and is always dirty. I have a lot more luck in the south pool. Also, be careful. I know dawn was close but technically it's illegal for you to be out before without proper running lights and quite honestly can be dangerous
As a human powered vessel I am required to have a 360 degree white light on board and it is actually illegal for me to have the red and green lights that denote a motorized vessel. :)
Aw thank you so much for the offer! I upgraded my battery this year and all new wiring setup has been giving me problems, but I'll get it figured out! Thanks though!
Ive had zero fish the last hour hit the right bank caught 7 in 25 minutes won tournament 5 fish 19.49lbs never give up have won many tournaments in the last hour or less
You are in a select few of anglers. Most do not have the drive to fish in those conditions and catch fish. As I would say you are in the Tuff as Nails group
Rattler trap, chatter bait, buzz bait and spinner baits great to use in that water.

Thanks! Our Ohio Kayak Fishing 2025 trail opener is at Alum Creek in April, so I've got some map studying to do over the winter!

Good eye, I really like those Reed Runners! It is funny because my local BassPro stocks them in the muskie aisle so you have to hunt for them!

Great job and way to make adjustments! I bought a couple of spinnerbaits in the off season but haven't used them yet - hope to do so soon.
From now on if I encounter muddy water, wind, clouds, rain, I am trying a spinnerbait!
I was fishing Madison Lake last week and met someone who recommended your channel. Love your content! Girls just wanna go fish!! Tight lines!
Thank you! That really shallow Madison Lake? Do you get fish there? It looks pretty, just so shallow!

I took note to how you virtually wisper when it's dark!

Your doing well and learning as you go
I just wish I hadn't started so old... I have to learn faster!

Black&Blue football head with a blue and black flipping chunk
Remember fish will gravitate to the bottom or against objects when it’s muddy
The same as when it's clear
