well when take a jam band mentality and mix it with odd time signature what else would it be, its progressive. the next evolution , whatever you call it ,its awesome shit
@Conscious-Type Person i totally agree. and i think its actually a compliment to their level of musicianship. to here a band that jams this hard and does it in Odd time signatures , covering the vast Genres of music from a to z is a breath of fresh air in todays culture of synth pop auto tune MK ultra preprogrammed drone artists, Like beiber and beyonce.
I found out about this band on way home from a small college radio station...last Friday. Where the hell have they been my entire life? A dream show would be these guys and Mastodon, who played an excellent show in Youngstown recently by the way.
my phish head friend says the same thing, I don't get it because I love bayliss' voice. why is it so bad? he belts out the high notes but he stays in key for the most part.
I was just thinking while watching this again for a millionth time that Jefferson was always so in tune with what the band had going on up on stage. Waful, true artist
His voice has grown on me over the years. Not to mention he's improved his vocals over over that time as well, and yes if he didn't sing at all I would love it just as much.
Justus Bugg I think it fits with what they do honestly and considering he sings about only 40-60 percent of the time then it's not that big a deal what it's like.
wtf where have i been. im so happy i stumbled onto this. prog rock is Alive and Well
Careful, the umphreaks might not take kindly to the "prog rock" comment haha

Umphreak here, I welcome the "prog rock" classification. I've never heard anyone upset about calling Umph progressive.
Hell, I embrace the label. I think they're closer to a prog rock group than a jam band.

Umphrey's is so awesome. Most of them can sing, especially Chris Myers.
Kris

UMPH LOVE!
Quarter rest does not equal woo
Philip Murphy lol. I love how so many freaking people don't even know when the vox kick in and woo anyway. Jack wagons.
NOthing equlas woo. woof
Never knew there were Umph snobs until this moment. Disappointed
@@eric4041 there's alot of them lol super annoying
Love all the hand signals directing the jam starting around the 7 min mark.
just amazing holy shit why are these guys not more popular
Cuz most people have short attention spans. Whenever I play them people think I played multiple songs🤣
Holy shit. This. This is what music is all about.
Bill Loman Leroy Jenkins
This has to be one of my top 4 fav UM songs. I rock this so hard every time it pops up on my playlist or on JamOn
Lights from 9:12 till the end are just amazing. Jefferson Waful is the shit
I was at this amazing show, they played me a song about time :)
Long live UM
Umphrey's freakin rocks. Brandon Bayliss has a great voice. who's your band brah?
This is UNREAL! so sad I missed these shows! Buying the DVDs and I'll see you guys in Denver for 2014!
This and "Wizard Burial Ground" are my fave UM tunes
wow...I love this Band! light show is awesome...
¡Qué bonitos sonidos! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much Joey!
Thank you
they play at red rocks tonight!
I am so excited to go there tonight.
I was there
They have really polished this gem.
Everyone shroomin at 9:00 just had mind explosions. This is why I love this band. So crazy, no words really necessary....
Amazing 🎉🎉🎉😊😊
They're pretty fucking popular. They played at Red Rocks Amphitheater multiple times.
Yeahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Awesome !!
No worries. Gotta love some Umph
How do you do the songs?
Bringing up Phish here might be a mistake...but I'm just trying to say people don't listen to Umphrey's (or Phish) for their vocal abilities
+Alex Bieger Actually the vocal abilities are not that bad. Consider the covers they do
I do and did with the real Grateful Dead.
That added depth is what brings it all together.
I like um's vocals, you just have to "get it"
UM has come along way. Back in the day, i would totally agree w/you. They've improved a ton on vocals
Trey's singing is shit. Bayliss is the man
Nastyyy
absolutely umazing
Haha! Yeah right! This has always been Kris's favorite song to play live! :P
“One simply does not Woo during a quarter rest…” Joel Fucking Cummins
That jam just dissipates into nothing at the end. Love when they do that. Always in for a treat with these guys \mm?
It doesn't exactly dissipate into nothing, it actually transitions into Resolution
JAMCORE!!! \mm/
codyyyyy
hardest something something in something n roll
9 people have plungers stuck on their faces
Hi
:)
I think this is the closest they've come to a Phish song.
I love it!
I'd have to go with prowler for sure.
THE riff.
UM...first comment!?!?!? yes! Rock on
I
\mm/
WTF are those called at 4:00 the little clamping click things?
etiquettefiend castanets
Dripping lights.
instruments.
they are? pretty widely known, actually.
my phish head friend says the same thing, I don't get it because I love bayliss' voice. why is it so bad? he belts out the high notes but he stays in key for the most part.
7:05 that sounds ripped straight from an Opeth song
Can you
they're pretty big..
And I have band videos
11.02 wtf is that noise
10:12 - Hell yea J Waf
Waful is always on point
I was just thinking while watching this again for a millionth time that Jefferson was always so in tune with what the band had going on up on stage. Waful, true artist
i mean lets be real, bayliss doesnt have the best voice, but it's about the instrumentation. his voice isnt necessarily bad though
Drew Binder the only people in the jam band industry that are better are Michael Kang, Kris Meyers, and Kieth Mosley.
His voice has grown on me over the years. Not to mention he's improved his vocals over over that time as well, and yes if he didn't sing at all I would love it just as much.
The lyricism is really great though. I love a lot of UM lyrics and find them to be some of the better lyrics in the jam band scene
Justus Bugg I think it fits with what they do honestly and considering he sings about only 40-60 percent of the time then it's not that big a deal what it's like.
His melodies are really good too. Hooky and complex, like most UM stuff.
it's not awful live...espcially during a song like divisions...but on recordings it does sound awful
no woooos please kids
Huey Lewis brought me here
no comment
Chris be messed up in the head.
castanets
BB's voice. I love these guys dearly but OMG his vox are not good.
WAFUL'D
hahahhahaha j fucking coleman ten. hahahahahah no one listen to the kpin kueeeeeeeeen! lub yas booo come visit hahahhahaha
Waful!!!!
I don't know man. Ive heard way better voices. His voice serves its purpose, but it needs some polish.
Ethan Pieper felt this but I’ve been listening to them for so long I couldn’t have that voice any other way to be honest.
:(
why
