Thoroughly enjoyed both of the catapult videos! It was lovely to see a complete beginner dive straight in at the deep end and make his own! I'm also glad you referred to the Gamekeeper John videos! He really knows his stuff!😀
have been looking at having one of those during elk hunts since we run across many high altitude grouse. A nice quiet way to bag some dinner without making a ruckus. I think your video has inspired me to make one instead of just buying one. Should be fun. Thanks for the video. Love all your workshop and hobby vids!
A sling shot is a formidable weapon. It was written that a fine young fellow once took down a mighty giant using only a sling and one smooth stone! Anyway, it looks like you're having fun. Lisa
I just wanted to say thanks for all of the entertainment and knowledge I have experienced watching your videos. I really enjoyed your epic battle with the ridgeway. Watched from beginning to end on a sunday. I was actually cleaning a dan wesson and kimber 1911 handgun when I first started watching. Had to stop and just sit back and watch your journey. Guns went to bed dirty but it was easily worth it. Enjoy the beautifuly crafted knives you make in good health.
proper job W.M. I first started to shoot cattys when I discovered John Webb the gamekeeper✌about 4 yr ago and when my aim started to sharpen the buzz was awsome.i use double 20mm-15mm.i think John currently uses a single 27mm- 22mm. its all good, proper vid mate keep em coming 😉👌
Great job - as always. I made mine from mahogany and treated it with boiled linseed oil. I have fitted tubes but I think the performance could be greatly improved with theraband so I'll have to make a few modifications to the frame. I bought my first slingshot from Nick Hegarty (Hegarty Slings) so that I had a good one to compare my efforts with.
Hi Sandy, I'm a fellow slingshooter and really enjoyed this two parts video of yours. I'm sure you spent lot of time and energy to making these. From making to aiming, cutting bands etc. You made an outstanding research and the presentation is just fluent and a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing! Mark/Tremo
Great video, takes me back about 60 years. The frame was a suitable Y piece cut from a tree branch, pouch was made from a leather shoe tongue and rubber band from the local model shop. A more evil version just had a single rubber loop and no pouch, we used to fire large fence staples from it. Got hit by one and it didn't arf hurt with lots of blood. Remember also the rubber becoming detached from the frame and wacking you in the face, ouch!
Good stuff WM, it's so easy to buy gadgets like this today I think we sometimes forget that half the enjoyment is making them. I remember as a kid seeing symmetrical catapults in comics but never being able to find that perfect branch, it always had one strong side & one weedy :)
W.M. Have you thought about using Ice instead of Lead in for practise. Cheaper and a bit more environmentally friendly. Although on a hot hot day might be a few probs but should be ok for in the garden...LOL. Great videos and real pleasure to watch.
Great catapult Sandy, very well made.Just ordered one off eBay as I don't have the tools to make one.Look forward to seeing you use it in the woods.ATB.
Hi Sandy,Good to see you got into slingshots, but as a beginner, I will probably use some light weight band set as a target shooter, in that way u will have more control and a smoother pouch release, and it can also help tobuild up the confidence.Try to relax your body when aiming the slingshot, it can also help u to gain more accuracy.Don't forget to wear a safty glasses! Can't wait to see your next video! Take care!
Nice one sandy. That is one chunky catty youv made there. I bet it feels totally different once it's been stabilised. I use to love my Barnet Diablo and my little steel one called a malbrow. Think I might dig it out and get in the woods again. Carnt wait for part three :-))
Wow great piece of Kit ( Artwork, beautiful ornated) Sandy..i bought some Thera Band Tubing to bild my own,, tis Band is in my Survival Kit (Lofty Wiseman Style) LOL+ Greetings Harry
th accuracy like that my friend, using stones, with proper ammo you'll be cutting cards and lightinng matches in no time!! That's pretty heavy bands you've got on there, respect for that!
Waldhandwerk Thanks Sepp, I have now uploaded the final part of this mini series and the catapult worked really well. Perhaps this is something that you can add to your bushcraft kit list? ATB Sandy
Well there's another side to you... CRAFTSMAN, I started following your channel just recently ZED recommended you for the Jack Lore knife vids but I'm impressed with every video I've watched so far, well done with the slingshot .
I have been watching, you and your projects for quite awhile and you are a Jack of all trades and a master at everything you do, I also am a jack of all trades but a master of none. I really like you, keep it up
I've tried to get in contact with you about a knife, but no luck. I would love one of your hand made knives!! And learn the craft myself. Thanks, Adam.
i had a feeling you wouldn't kill animals, that's because you probably respect the creator and his creation, long life to you, your vids are incredibly entertaining, and we love your dog
To kill any creature is an ultimate act of extreme aggression toward it and not something I am willing to do unless it was a survival situation and I needed a meal to stay alive. Yes my dogs are beautiful. Sandy
Always enjoy your videos, thankyou !. Hope to wildcamp one day when the opportunity arises, hope your wife, Mandy, has recovered, all the best to you and your whole family, Kind Regards, Mike
I like to add leather washers stuck to the pouches over the holes using superglue, you get very little stretch on the holes while keeping the pouch weight to a minimum.
Hi Pete I am from swindon. My experience with Oak is mixed. It will stbilise well but on some pieces you can see the resin in the wood fibres and it doesnt look nice.

Please tell me you live near Tisbury? How much would you charge to stabilise a few small chunks of Oak burl?
Hi Pete I am from swindon. My experience with Oak is mixed. It will stbilise well but on some pieces you can see the resin in the wood fibres and it doesnt look nice.
