By lightning conceived was I The stars above became my eyes Hvergelmir flows in my veins My hair the mist across the never ending nameless lake By womb of soil, the moist of dew Born when sun was high, the day was new And the raven soared high up in clear sky The land will speak to you, when your heart is pure And you were made by Mother Earth, Father Thunder This heart winged, I am eagles son Through storm and spite, untouched, it is pounding on This sword, forged in fire and ice The runes that trail its blade can be seen but by my two eyes As if written in the snow, the lies, shall melt away By the wheel of sun to cross the sky this day Shadows may lay heavy upon the earth But the truth, cut deep in stone, will last 'Til the heavens comes tumbling down upon this world Mother Earth, Father Thunder
Without question, the last two Bathory albums are one of the greatest What If scenarios in the history of music. Quorthon, as we now know, was a heavy drinker for much of his adult life -- and it was this addiction that cost him his life in June, 2004. Had he gotten sober before his heart attack, we would have easily gotten the second half of the planned four-album Nordland saga with Nordland III and IV; but, it's only the first two albums that manage to see completion and a release. Remember, if you're addicted to alcohol or something related to it, there is help to kick those addictions to the curb. Don't be afraid to ask for help, because it may save your life.
Nordland III and IV were never planned to be a thing. Quorthon himself said in an interview that Bathory's next album was intended to be something "closer to their roots" implying another Black, Death, or maybe Thrash album. This is just a ridiculous rumor that tons of people somehow still believe. EDIT: Adding onto this: Nordland was originally intended to be one album, it was made into two albums because in the studio they realized they had nearly two hours of material and decided it would be best to split it rather than have one absurdly long album.
@@castle_rain He was a pretty secretive man, so we have unfortunately very few details about his life. So it's anyones guess if he was speaking the truth or not, though I'm inclined to believe he didn't drink.
My lightning conceived was I The stars above became my eyes Overgelmer flows in my veins My hair the mist across the never ending nameless lake By womb of soil, the moist of dew Born when sun was high, the day was new And the raven soared high up in clear sky The lamb will speak to you, when your heart is pure And you were made by Mother Earth, Father Thunder This heart winged, I am eagles son Through storm and suite, untouched, it is pounding on This sword, forged in fire and ice The runes that trail its blade can be seen but by my two eyes As if written in the snow, the lies, shall melt away By the wheel of sun to cross the sky this day Shadows may lay heavy upon the earth But the truth, cut deep in stone, will last Till the heavens comes tumbling down upon this world Mother Earth, Father Thunder
Epic song, perfect to walk alone
Hail Quorthon/Bathory
Amazing chorus. Very underrated.
Greatest Chorus of all Time ! 🖤🤟
"MOTHER EARTH
FATHER, THUNDER"
Mythical and awe inspiring sound!
By lightning conceived was I
The stars above became my eyes
Hvergelmir flows in my veins
My hair the mist across the never ending nameless lake
By womb of soil, the moist of dew
Born when sun was high, the day was new
And the raven soared high up in clear sky
The land will speak to you, when your heart is pure
And you were made by
Mother Earth, Father Thunder
This heart winged, I am eagles son
Through storm and spite, untouched, it is pounding on
This sword, forged in fire and ice
The runes that trail its blade can be seen but by my two eyes
As if written in the snow, the lies, shall melt away
By the wheel of sun to cross the sky this day
Shadows may lay heavy upon the earth
But the truth, cut deep in stone, will last
'Til the heavens comes tumbling down upon this world
Mother Earth, Father Thunder
Bathory forever, hail Quorthon
forever Bathory Hail

I wonder if any demos exist from his producer, Boss

He didn’t die of a heart attack or Alcoholism. He had a congenital heart defect. It was pretty inevitable he would die.

Absolute bullshit, he had congenital heart issues, nothing to do with drinking or drugs. He didn't even smoke ciggies.
My favourite Bathory song by far. Everything is perfect: chorus, music, lyrics, performance!
All hails to King Quorthon!!
Thomas Börje Forsberg forever 🤘😃🎵🔥👏😊
This is a masterpiece
A true masterpiece! Legendary!!
Their music has a mysterious metal sound
This is Masterpiece!
What am I even listening to? Whatever i though black metal was.......this is better and I'm loving every second of it.
You are listening to the best kind of art. That which is conceived from pure passion and love.
This is late Bathory, the very roots of Viking Metal.
That intro goes so mfing hard.
Música perfeita!!! LINDA!!! atmosphera impressionante!!!

Ok, Bathory were the first to release this song, and Manegarm's is a cover, but it is better than the original.
Get out
Hail Quorthon
You are lost Boy, there is no hope...
Even Mother Earth and Father Thunder can't help you.😂
