Long time listener, first time caller. Simply superb to see your process here. Thanks so much for going to the trouble of filming while doing this. What a treat for the rest of us to see. More like this please.

Funny thing is that I really don't like making workshop videos!
I find the process of filming when I'm working makes very slow progress.

What can I say but that is absolutely fantastic Rob. I very nearly didn’t give it to my mate when I saw the knife, and it’s a good job I gave him the knife before I watched the video. Absolutely fantastic job done on the refurb and a new found appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into it. Big thanks again mate

I bet ya could of carpeted a whole house in that time. You are a great teacher as well as craftsman, to say nothing of all the trouble filming it, very well done sir.

There’s a video on TH-cam of Michael Harrison making one of these. He’s shown pinning the handles on using brass collets and no epoxy.
I have one of these, but it’s a one off flat ground version with a dyed, stabilised burl handle. Still pinned without epoxy, I believe!

" Their own brand of Sheffield made Bowie knife, when you see them in person are breath-taking. Also, a very, very popular knife is their take on the classic Bushcraft blade. They use 01 carbon tool steel, hardened to 56/58 Rockwell. Crafting them with Stag antler, Buffalo horn, Rosewood and of course the fabulous Snake wood handle scales. John showed me the steel blanks used to make the 01 carbon steel Bushcraft knives. The stag handles are cut from natural stag gathered from a sustainable source in the UK. The blade is 4.5mm thick, providing excellent strength, weight and balance."
Hey Rob, copied a little bit from an article on A Wright & Son from Sheffield. I suspect the reference to the bushcraft knife matches the one you refurbished. Earlier in the article it mentioned the ferro rod holder on the sheath was an extra option .
Nothing like a flu bug to kick off the new year :~/ Hope your back in good health my friend. Thx for the great vid!

    • @RobEvansWoodsman

Personally I'd go with a vegetable based oil inside then wax outside, if it's good enough for boots it's good enough for a sheath, beeswax based wax is excellent.
