    Tested Gen6P vs 0317T outdoor with PXG rep. Windy day headwinds oat the range. 1-2 club wind. The 0317 and Gen6 distance on 7 iron were the same. I'm 65 but long.
    Avg distance into the gusty headwinds was mid 160s. 0317Ts are special. Definitely a players club. Gen6 distance with Mizuno playability. Such a great club. Bought a set and had them lofted stronger for a more boring flight since I get great height already. Stunning looks and underrated playability. Looking forward to playing them.

    My 1317T's are arriving tomorrow. The numbers during fitting were ridiculous. Picked up 10 to 15 yards against my 923 tour irons with dispersion on all my shots with the PXG's being in a FIVE YARD CIRCLE. 😳 Can't wait to see if I can do it real world too!

    Tremendous video once again. I too was in same boat as you and our numbers are almost identical. Here’s the bottom line that I found. I’m an 8 hcp. I played Gen 6 for some time. Loved them. Biggest hiccup was attacking greens and holding. My ball wouldn’t stick. Now, I have 0317t 5-7, 0317 CB 8-PW and for me it’s perfect. I get the distance I want and need. Workability. Forgiveness and green stopping power. If all you want is more forgiveness and your not overly worried about pin point accuracy attacking pins go w Gen 6. They’re fabulous clubs. If you try to play competitive golf and like to finesse your shots, attack pins, want the best feel and workability, the 0317 line is way to go. Great job here 👍🏻

    Loving PXG on my 3rd set
    Strangely I'm on 0211 from 0311 gen 3....tried gen 6 p and the more forgiving version but got same numbers and preferred the look behind the ball of 0211
    When I asked to try them fitter predicted I would get better numbers from them.....said he would normally steer me away from them but because he'd fit me twice before he was happy for me to try the cheaper version....as keeping a customer in the brand and happy he knew I'd return for more clubs ..he was right I bought a putter and 3 wood is on the list

    Just had a PXG fitting. I hit both these clubs and actually my numbers were very close to yours other than I had spin of 5800 with both Gen 6 and 0317. Like you my ball speed was a couple of mph faster with the 0317. I was much more consistent on distance and L to R with the T, and didn’t lose any distance and they felt and looked much better. It surprised me so much I didn’t buy them yet thinking it was just a quirk. Glad to see your numbers and review matched mine. The demo also had a silver weight in the back which I really liked.

      PS I also just hit the Ping i230’s and loved them and they had very similar numbers but it was a different location and day so not a perfect comparison. The sole width is the biggest difference, though the ping is larger it feels very much like a players iron. My current gamer is 1st gen 790 which I love other than the once a round flyer always left and too long. Ave distance is only about 5 yards more than Ping and PXG.

    6000 rpm spin, with a 7 iron, is the optimal spin club fitters should be striving to achieve with their clients, again the correct shaft will aid this being achieved if you generate a lot of spin, or not enough. Many golfers, out there, struggle with the same old shaft, unaware they are losing distance because of spin loss or increase. Use a good fitter to identify which shaft suits your swing. These 0317's look superb and would be in the bag in a heart beat, but I still use my 0211's, which are mostly down to your channel Andy, when you reviewed and got fit for them. When the price came down, I pulled the trigger. Been using them ever since. If PXG offered me a swap for the right money, I would but would need my shafts in them. The MMT's are soooo good.

    Great review. This is what I was looking for as in terms. I am struggling between models. My thought after a few different videos is the 0317T. Now I just need to make the decision between graphite or steel.

    Thanks for this review. I switched to a tour series iron a couple of years back. Some club makers have done amazing things, mine also have a hollow core filled with some mystery magic stuff. I love playing them, and have gotten some of those back hand compliments on the course, "you sure are lucky you can still hit those little heads." When I was comparing these were easier to play with than the midsize, and never mind oversize. I don't like to look down a club and wonder why I am swinging a shovel.

    Great smash factor based on those numbers, reverse math on the launch/spin numbers for the 5 iron show that the 0317's had a dynamic loft of 5 deg higher than the gens 6's with only a 2 deg static loft change. Also the Gen6's had a spin loft of ~16.3 vs 19.3 for the 0317. This was produced by a 3 deg change of impact AOA, positive on the gen 6 and neutral on the 0317. The 7 iron was similar , 3 deg positive on the gen6 and 1 deg down on the 0317, Both Clubs show a change of about 2-3 deg less shaft lean at impact. Without knowing if they were playing the same shaft ( both look like steelfibers). I would suspect the change in club head is subconsciously setting up with less shaft lean at address.

    Plan on getting the 0317T’s in 2024 and have then 2 degree stronger so they match the gen6 lofts. Currently game the gen 3 T’s because they are the softest irons money can buy. 💯👍

    I can hear the difference in studio. The data speaks for itself. That 0317T 7 iron numbers were great for you. Better all the way around and worth every penny of the 3.8 yard loss. I can't wait to get to a PXG store to try one.

    Let's face it, with under 90mph swing speed, the avg player should have a hybrid or 7 wood in the bag instead of a 5 iron. I took the 5 iron out of my bag when I could not consistently get 10 yrds farther carry than my 6 iron, nor hold a green . Now I have a hybrid that replaces the 6 as well. Those 0317Ts are lookers as well as performers. Can't beat that. But have to say that I benefit from the stronger loft of my XCor 2s.

    Nice vid Andy , I’ve recently gone to woods over long irons 5, 7 and looking to get a 9 wood to replace the 5 iron , all have 50gr evenflow riptide shafts feel super light which gains more confidence and faster swing speed but more importantly more confidence . As you quite rightly said for the longer clubs you need the swing speed which you lose over time. Not a great fan of hybrids to tell the truth . Having yet to purchase my 9 wood and I watched your video you did on the ping 9 wood . Is there any chance you can compare the ping 9 wood and the ping 9 wood HL 45grm shaft as I’m torn between the ping max 9 wood hazardousrdx 60 gram and curious to see if the 45 gram 9 wood as my current fairways are 55 and even my driver is 50 the shafts being 5.5 ….keep up the good work and great content

    I literally have this exact decision to make in 1 months' time. I adore the 0317T; they are some of the best looking sticks out there IMO, BUT not sure I have the talent to hit them.
    More likely is that I'll be fitted into the Gen6 P's, which will be an excellent iron, but not exactly a looker. So tough :(

    These 0317T look great! I'm moving into single handicap and was curious what every ones thoughts are comparing the 0317T to pings i230s? I'm a bit of a ping fanboy, but with all the reviews of the pxgs its hard not to be tempted to make them my next club. Does anyone have experience with either of these?

    Looks like the T is a good choice for you. 7 iron numbers look great. Wondering how the 6 looks. Not much point in the 5 iron though. With those numbers it seems that you'd get a lot of roll out on a green and a hybrid or 9 wood would be a much better fit for that part of the bag. I'm pleased to see the 7 iron distance is only a half club different from the P irons even though there's a 2 degree difference in loft. That might work for me coming from Gen 3 P irons. Definitely check those out in the spring.

      I'm still playing gen 3 & play the T one strong. I swing the smaller head faster and like less bounce so bending them strong gave me a cleaner strike. This new 0317T might finally kick them out of my bag. They look awesome.

    I have a similar club head speed to Andy but I do generate a bit more spin than he does (no idea why). For me any iron with a loft of less than 25 degrees is probably useless in my hands, I do not have the speed to launch the ball high enough or get enough speed to generate enough spin to keep the ball in the air. So my longest iron is a 5i. That carries (i210s so slightly more loft) c. 170-175 yards and spins at around 4800 rpm (according to trackman)
    However, when it comes to the results I was shocked at how low spin the Gen 6 irons were. A 5i spinning at 3000 rpm is not stopping on a green, in fact the 7i even with the benefit of higher peak height and a good descent angle is not stopping quickly on a summer green. The numbers for the Gen 6 remind me of the numbers I got when I tried a TM M2 irons around 2016 - in my hands absolutely no stopping power even with a 7i.
    The 0317Ts were the complete opposite. For us average swing speed players 5800-5900 rpm with a 7i coupled with high peak height and good descent angle means lots of control. The 5i was on the margins of control, but I do think that is more a function of Andy being a low spin player

    i understand how they moved the T model from their main 0311 line to the 0317 family... But so much of the talk about it is talking about how it's smaller/low offset/small profile/etc - all of which the OLD T already did/was.
    Have not many youtube reviewers not had experience with the older/prior gen "T" irons and now that they're marketed a bit differently getting more attention so it seems like all this is new? Because as somebody who's had 0311t for a few years, literally every talking point in these 0317t has been around for a while now.

    • @ryank3264
      @ryank3264 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the main dif is the new 0317T doesnt have xcor foam to add distance, but scor or something just to help with the softness, acoustics and tiny bit of forgiveness.

    • @theCycleReport
      @theCycleReport 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ryank3264 I don't think the foam adds distance, the thin face and open hollow area behind it gives it the trampoline effect. The foam is more for vibration, sound and feel to "catch" the flexing face.
      Point being, the cross section of the older t models and the new t models are extremely similar (both much smaller hollow area behind the face than p or xp).
