Wonderful story! I really enjoyed this one! I'm learning more about Fitzgerald through his writing. This sounds like it might be about his wife, Zelda.
I disagree, she loved him but scared, young. The fact she brought the boys shows they were just fun. Just friends. Growing up this is almost my story. When my first love as me to marry him, I had to much hurt, he left. 3 weeks later I got married, been married 56 yrs. Even after I was married he was around my family. In the end, he got cancer, he married. But his mother, father, wife came to my home, I front of my husband and children, he wanted to see me before he died. My husband was very cool, he didn’t want to meet him, dropped me off, it was tough. At the end, he asked to meet my husband and boys. My husband just turned off the car. My boys were too little to understand. One of the hardest times of my life
I must repeat. This guy could really write. I know about all the crazy stuff and Zelda and all that you know I got that history but I haven't heard. According to John Prine, a question ain't really a question if you know the answer t o o. I'm not going to go back another that's what John Prine said. Back in 1970 or so
There is no one else who is as talented as Fitzgerald. A master of words. American hero.
Absolutely , this recognition unfortunately came far too late , as far as his premature death is concerned(
All kinds of love in the world but never the same love twice 👍🏽
Fantastic story
Fantastic and sad....

His poverty discouraged her and the fact that she was still receiving other young men is telling
The second time she showed him plainly that her love had been only a fleeting passion. Sad. With him the feeling had run deep

I don’t understand why they fell apart? He came to see her and left broken hearted- what happened that changed her mind?
