These jellyfish are absolutely stunning. The amazing thing is that they are natural sources of light, along with angler fish, fireflies and glow worms. It’s also incredible how over 70% of deep sea creatures emit natural light! 🐠 🐠
I choose to include the actual sounds at the aquarium where I recorded this. So, you end up with the sound of the visitors as well as the music the aquarium was playing overhead. I agree that the voices are distracting but at least it's faithful to the experience at the aquarium.
@@brodielovetv7780 This is the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. I'm sorry I did not see your reply until now. Check the video description for the information.
One time when I was snorkeling in the Florida Keys, I swam into a patch of jellyfish and I was like " OH DAYUM " But they were bioluminescent jellyfish and they didn't sting! If you caught one and shook it, it would glow! But they were invisable above water
I wonder how cool this sort of thing could be for a sensory room. Not the real ones but if there was some sort of projection or light that could possibly replicate it?
I reckon if you caught one of these and stuck it in a aquarium at home and then stuck wires up its arse that are connected to your music system it would be better than iTunes visualizer !!! :D
The Monterey Bay Aquarium does not have bioluminescent jellies. Some of them look bioluminescent, but it is an illusion caused by the high powered lights that they use and the jellies' cilia.
guys iam sure u might hv seen the neon blue bioluminescence in sea water caused by microorganisms ... many people who live near costal areas clsim tat this phenomenon occurs in different colours like red, flourucent yellow/green like ones emitted by fire flies ..hv ny one seen this ..plz help me

I learned more from this comment section than from my biolohy class.

I have seen this in real life, under water. It was really cool.
How far under water did u have to go
Not underwater. Just at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium.
Ch33zyBreadTrellie it was a long time ago. I snorkeled In Thailand I think, and it was surprisingly high up. I could breath while looking at it.
Vince Patton no, I saw it underwater. It was beautiful.
i was in the navy and have seen the schools of jellies in complete darkness. most amazing light show ever

JProductions the jellyfish, shaking: ahhhhhhh
Nature can be light too like Electrical Lights?! Oh yeah! Now we are talking!
Jellyfish dont know they are so beautiful creation of god 😍
Addison Brewster im christian !
WOW!! Thank you so much for sharing this video. AWESOME music and shot!
Glad you liked it. The music is simply what the aquarium had playing overhead in the display area, so I don't know more about the source.
They are relatives of jellyfish. Comb jellies have such beautiful beating cilia.

Some of these I think are Ctinophores, but I love this! Love seeing all glowy!
the first ones are not bioluminescent. The rows diffract light creating a rainbow effect.
Most of those were ctenophores not jellyfish
This is unbelievable!
I'm trying to show my six-year-old this footage, but he's more interested in his iPad game about sea exploring. LOL

Mike B Lmao 😂
How stunning.
Video should be an hour long with this music.
Soothing, isn't it? This is just the music that plays overhead in the aquarium where I shot this video.
Can they see? Do they know they look like that? Someone should explain to them how cool they look
you showed comb jellies and hydrozans
They had RGB before it was cool
I appreciate this.
do they sting
of course
of course not
probably
No
Hi Vince, can I please use the link to this video on my website for people to check out?
Certainly! Link away.
So this is what they modeled the NTI's in "The Abyss" on.
Could we have bioluminescent cells?
Great video ty

Those are ctenophores, not jellyfish, except those small blue ones in the dark water with the long tentacles and greenish glow.
I wanted to share this with my online students during the ocean animal class. How can I get permission to show?
Feel free to play this clip to your class.
Gracias por compartir
cool video!
When we go fishing at nite in narragansett bay in summer its a brilliant blue light show astern of the boat you have to see it to believe it.
I thin I saw these at the see I look becearful
It’s not bioluminescence it’s the light reflecting of them to make it look like it’s bioluminescent
The comb jellies I’m talking about
My eyes are amazed wow
they are really amazing
seriosly
ctenophores are really world's beautiful creature
Hi Vince - I'd love to license this video. Do you have an email address I can reach out to? Sabrina

Do you know what species these are? (Especially the first ones with the "chasing lights")
Sorry, I'm afraid I don't know the species.
Comb jellies, or ctenophora
there's this documentary called "The Abyss" that's all about these guys.
guys iam sure u might hv seen the neon blue bioluminescence in sea water caused by microorganisms ... many people who live near costal areas clsim tat this phenomenon occurs in different colours like red, flourucent yellow/green like ones emitted by fire flies ..hv ny one seen this ..plz help me
