@@TysonHugie Honda Accord and Subaru Legacy of those year 1990-1993 were/are of "Japanese ingenuity Engineering and Manufacturing"... 💘 💘
I will share you my Happy and Sad Stories of our Subaru Legacy Model L ... 1992.
It has only 93k miles or 148,000 km on the Odometer; inside the Chamber it is like this Honda Accord in term of little scratches and the Cushion/Bench Seat in the back still look like new. Underneath the Hood, the Cleanliness like this Honda 1993 SE.
3 Features stood out in this Legacy was:
1/ that the Original Timing-Belt was changed only in 2019 at 140k km; and the Subaru Tech Lady who provided Services/ Sold Parts for us/me was born 1993; so at the time when we bought the Timing-Belt and Thermostat = *she said OMG the Timing-Belt is older than me* . 😂😂
2/ The Legacy designed so that you never left the Head-lights or Lights on = as when you took out the Key from the Ignition Slot; all light shut off by itself.
3/ AWD or Ready AWD Symmetrical that Honda Accord or Toyoda Camry those years did not have = Winter Driving where I live and drove up north to Alaska Highway...
I still have the Original Winter Tires and Rims Made by Subaru Rims and Bridgestone Tires since 1994! And bought some Parts like Column Steering/Control (assembly that including Levels of Signal Lights and Windshield Wiper as well the Cruise Control ─ Bought Brand New as Spare Parts.) And Black Bra on the Fender is brand new, never put on the Car; We/I also bought a spare of Maroon Mirror Painted instead of Black and intended to have the Car repainted by my friend Mechanics Shop; and many Brand New Parts for the Model 1992 since the Dealer that I knew they went to Bankruptcy in 1996; so we/I got so many spare Brand New Parts for Restorations.
The Worst New! Sad is the Car was stolen in late May 2023; and the Police could not do anything about the case! So mad!
We only spent $2K last in 2019 on changing Original Timing-Belt, Thermostat and Water Pump = since it cost extra only $500, so, we had they done so everything around the Timing-Belt would be like new and would help keep the Engine in best shape. The car was trouble Free for us since 1992 from Japan to the day we lost the Car; except that we had to replace the Alternator because here, winter like Minus 40°F/C during Last Week of Jan and 1st week of February. It is very hard on the Electrical Wires.
*We/I saw a a Subaru Legacy Model Lsi. 1992 was auctioned in Australia for 22k AUD$* - which had only 45 thousand original Miles on the Odometer.
My plan of converting our Subaru Legacy 1992 Model was not materialized...
That is all; and Cheers to those Classics Made in Japan JH/ JF and JT serial Number.

My Grandma and Grandad bought this exact model when it was brand new. Paid cash for it so they owned it outright the day it left the lot. Had all the options added to it. Spoiler, fog lights, alarm system, cd changer. I absolutely fell in love with it when I was only 3 or 4 years old. My dad was a Honda mechanic so they got a few deals on the options too. 😊On this video hearing that good ole F22A6 engine wind up was like music to my ears.

Not only is this a wonderful example of how beautifully preserved this 4th gen accord is, but also the fact it has over 130K means the owner actually drives it instead of sticking in a meat locker with 20K miles. I wish we all could take care of cars like this, to preserve them for decades while also using them even if it's "just an Accord".

Good point, I should have pointed that out!

    • @DrivingHy
      @DrivingHy ปีที่แล้ว

Actually it's an interesting story about why it was ever done. As many already know the dreaded motorized shoulder belts were used for the first 2 years followed by driver's side air bag for '92 and '93... except the '93 SE. For some reason only the SE sedan (not the coupe) came with dual front airbags.
What's unclear is Honda ever bothered? For one year, one model, they just decided to spend what must have been enormous resources developing, testing, redesigning a one piece dash for a limited edition model just to accommodate a passenger airbag. The cost of the tooling alone must have cost millions with no hope of ever recouping the investment, or did they?
Since the '94 (5th gen CD5) were designed to include dual airbags the following year my thought is this. Honda liked to run concurrent models along the same assembly line. Before ramping production Honda typically would run both old and next generation models on the same assembly line at a slower rate. This was done to gradually familiarize the employees with upcoming model assembly techniques. During those days many components and sub-assemblies were carried over from previous generations. By implementing the passenger side airbag on the 93 SE sedan it would gradually expose workers to the assembly process earlier for the upcoming Accords. Just a thought...

What I like about the '93 compared to the new Accords.
    - Vinyl headliner
    - Rear door courtesy lights
    - The user-friendly layout of the dash controls
    - Less electronics (less stuff to prematurely brake)
    - Replaceable headunit for aftermarket
I had both 93 and 2018. I still miss my 1993 more than my 2018.

Ten years ago, when I turned 22, I could have bought a fully loaded 1993 Frost White Honda Accord SE Coupe with under 60,000 miles and a clean title. I'm from South America, though, and these cars are pretty rare out there and too expensive to maintain. After I checked some parts' prices, I gave it up and went to Toyota. The owner later told me that he had sold it to a guy. Three days later, that guy parked it on the bottom of a steep street when an uncontrolled small truck hit and totaled it. Luckily the guy wasn't inside the car. RIP Accord.

I bought a 2001 Honda Accord with leather interior used back in 2004. I still drive it today as my daily driver and it is still just as smooth as the day I bought it. It has over 226k miles on it. Someone offered to pay me $5k for it, even though it's book value is $1k.
