Good to see a direct comparison in a real world test - I've got a pair of Simond gloves that are very good (I don't wear them often as they're too warm!), and I'd have no issue buying other stuff from Decathlon (despite being a bit of a label snob, although I try my hardest not to be).
Do you use much mountain equipment gear? Its often on sale and i have some additional scouting discounts i could get on top of that, but even on sale its expensive. And, I dont know how good it really is compared to the bigger names
I wonder if it's a good idea to buy one of those jackets in the first place. Seems like a hybrid that's not good at anything. Seems like a Down jacket/ fleece hoody combo would do most of the work this jacket provides.
@@mantis1966 that decathlon jacket is neither waterproof nor windproof. So a "down" jacket with synthetic filling would do a better job if money is concerned in my opinion.

Have you tried the Simond Softshell? Pretty much a bargain too!
I haven't, will have a look if I get the chance!
Hi there. Thinking of getting the Simond jacket. Is it water resistant?
It’ll keep a shower off but not water proof
@@JBMountainSkills OK, thanks for the info
On the topic of clothes, I love your jeans! Where are they from?
From the little logo by his knee they are Ocun jeans, and from a 20 second google they look like Hurrikans.
Yeah as above, Ocun ones! Bit baggy but my normal Prana ones are on their last legs!
@@johnfletcher9907 Sweet, thanks!
Hi Jez - out of curiosity, what was the *bleep* for? You mentioned Patagonia a lot throughout the video so just wondered. 😊
I hoped people might be intrigued, but more importantly said nano puff instead of nano air 🤦♂️😂
😂 - brilliant. It adds some intrigue and makes it seem like you were censored for mentioning a product 😊

Not these days but I have a lot in the past. Decent kit. Wouldn't say as high end as Patagonia / Arcteryx, similar to Rab type stuff.

Down not great in wet N. Wales weather.

It's amazing for specific use cases, for me is when temp < -5C and active (i.e. snowshoeing)
