I always looked at Jay as a highly intelligent character. He was sometimes too smart for his own good, he had a way with words to influence people. But if you ever notice he doesn't force anybody to do anything, he sort of plants the seed in their mind then they carry out the act. From Sean making his choices, to Emma going down on him, to Jt selling drugs. Jay is an interesting character and I say that because I knew guys like him growing up in the streets. That's why I used to get a kick out of watching him in this show.
The difference between Jay and Craig is that Jay was the only guy who pursued her and put in the effort. She chased after Craig. Don't chase after a guy. Let feelings happen naturally.

I HATED MANNY'S HAIR when she is first pretending to be with Jay. That whole season 🤦♀️ her hair was the best when she was dating Craig - long bangs and long hair. But the short bangs and curly hair just did not look good on her. UPDATE : I love Manny's hair in Degrassi Goes To Hollywood ❤️ where Manny and Jay become CANON.

I love them together. I love how they have a secret handshake and how proud Jay is when she’s singing. Also, I hated her and Craig and the fact that when she with Jay she told him she was completely over Craig. 👏👏
2:12 you can see how much Jay appreciates the chance to show someone that he isn't just a troublemaker and the guy who got expelled. He finally isn't an asshole and wants to show his achievements and possible future and show that he's someone you can be proud of. Manny's dad was a huge asshole in the beginning of the show (just like Jay, LOL) but besides Tony, Manny's dad was one of the few adults on the show to give Jay a real chance to continue to redeem himself. Even knowing he was a dropout and several years older than his daughter, he gave Jay a chance to explain himself and didn't judge him for his past. It's no wonder he fell in love with Manny- he not only fell in love with her, but also gained acceptance from her parental figures. That must have meant the world to him, especially since he came from a broken home.
