The Timeline of Spencer Rattler Finally Making It To The NFL (His Crazy Journey)

- At one point, Spencer Rattler was considered the top QB in his high school class and was a surefire Hesiman winner and first overall pick. Sadly, he would flame out at Oklahoma and had an up and down career at South Carolina. He never gave up and has now made it to the ultimate destination, the NFL. He was taken by the New Orleans Saints and today I want to take you through the timeline of how Spencer Rattler made it, enjoy!

Spencer Rattler finally did it. No QB in the last few years has dealt with more scrutiny and BS than him, happy for Spencer!
I think Baker Mayfield and Justin Fields might have something to say about that.
Still happy for him, but Rattler made his own problems. It just seems that he's grown enough to stop getting in his own way.

AMEN!!!!! If there is a story of being resilient and picking yourself up after getting knocked down, this kid's story is surely one meant for a book! HE may have been cocky(but I want my qb to be cocky...how many players have been cocky or even arrogant and it SURELY DID NOT HURT THEIR DRAFT STOCK!!!???? PRIME TIME to hundreds more) Spencer situation at Oklahoma was just a nightmare for anyone! You are playing great football, but your own crowd is boo'ing you!! BUT, he let the remainder of the year pass, entered the portal, and found a new home where his fans LOVED HIM! Trust me, as a Gamecocks fan, this man's declision to pick us over everyone else gave us HOPE, and he led us to quite the season with wins over TWO TEAMS that would of made the PLAYOFFS if we did not shock them!!(Tenn and Clemson)....to get that losing to Clemson monkey off the back in a trhilling 31-30 nailbiter will always be a CLASSIC to Gamecocks fans and he went from someone that probably would of had a great career at Oklahoma if he had stayed while Caleb bailed...but he would never be appreciated MORE than he is in Columbia !!!!! I am sure he wishes he would of stayed ONE MORE YEAR as we all wish he had of too! BUT LOOK OUT! THE GAMECOCKS HAVE QUITE THE REPLACEMENT---RATTLER'S UNDERSTUDY...SELLERS WILL BE A HOUSEHOLD NAME AFTER THE FIRST 3 GAMES OF THE SEASON!
Going to the Saints is about as good of a situation as he could have hoped for! The Saints are not committed to Carr in the long-term future, so if Rattler shows enough, maybe they will allow him to start once Carr's contract is up.

I’m a saints fan and actually wanted the saints to take rattler!! I think it’s a great pick up. Gonna be a good back up for us and I think a potential steal as he’s gonna take over for Carr when he eventually leaves.
Hello, All! N. E. Pats fan here. Spencer Rattler! CONGRATULATIONS! This low round pick of Spencer is an insult to him. This is NOT a reflection on the N O Saints. It's a knock on the mystery as to why teams didn't draft him sooner. Rattler was a much higher, valuable consideration..unknown why there was so much hesitation...maybe some old stuff from high school or something. This kid is GOOD! I've followed him for the past 3 years, and I gotta tell ya, he's experienced, confident, talented, a leader, well-based and mature. His cockiness has been refined. Special note that so many teams overlooked: In 2023, the South Carolina Gamecocks had the nearly worst offensive line in the SEC (injuries, mix-and-match, lack of cohesiveness), thus compromising Spencer's performance and stats. Had South Carolina's offensive line been equal to North Carolina's offensive line in the game where they played each other, South Carolina would have WON that game (against Drake Maye, no less). Congrats to the Saints and you Saints fans. You are in for a TREAT!!!! Congratulations to all and to Spencer!!
Rattler fell to where Jimmy Clausen should have landed, probably because he was Clausen 2.0 before playing for South Carolina. He grew last year in his game and as a person, but we'll see just how much he's grown.

@@thatonewriter8043Spencer never had any negativity around him in South Carolina, he was a great, hardworking kid and teammate from day 1. He was made a captain in both years. No one in the SEC has any issues w his personality. His game got better the moment Satterfield was released of his play calling duties starting w the Tennessee game in 2022. Contrary to you and any talking heads Shane Beamer saw Rattler in person at Oklahoma and he never doubted his attitude or character and asked him to South Carolina. He also said he heard no bad words about him in Oklahoma. I trust a HC more than any media guys.
Spencer Rattler definitely is a draft steal. Definitely gonna prove a lot of teams for passing up on him. Time to shine in the NFL playing for the Saints.

My saints did a great job with the draft, not forcing anything and just taking BPA, which is one of the first thing I’ve seen in a while.
Last 2 picks are project guys, but guys that can develop over time.
A key thing I can say is they all were very important positions that were taken. LT, CB, QB.

So happy he’s a saint I was high on him goin into the draft thought he could be a 3rd round pick and even if he doesn’t end up being that good he brings that swag that jameis brought in the QB room
As a Gamecocks fan i wanted to see Rattler stay with Carolina, but i guess hes going from "my qb" to my rival qb in New Orleans. Itll be interesting if we one day get to see Bryce vs Rattler in the pros.

Video on Jermaine Burton would be interesting. 6 different schools, character issues, but insanely talented. And landed on a fun offense with Burrow.
It's hard to root for this guy... One thing I will say is this, he had a humongous slice of humble pie 🥧 from his QB1 days till now.

He's got his future in his hands in New Orleans. Carr is going to have another couple years to get it together but he's still pretty mid as a QB. Rattler will get some time to get up to NFL speed and have a shot at QB1 if he keeps the gas pedal down.
South Carolina O-Line didn't give him a lot of help ! 😞
Exactly. That's what a lot of people fail to realize. The end of thw 2023 season for example with wins over TU and Clemson. The O-line got better at the end

I remember watching this kid in highschool, when he got benched for williams i felt so bad for him.
This guy was born to throw a football! His throwing motion is beautiful and the ball just fliys out of his hand! If he can ever get his decision making and consistency raised up he can be elite! Good luck Spencer!!!

Haener is probably slightly better but rattler seems to have a slightly higher ceiling both could eventually be the best qb in their class with kubiak system.

Brock Purdy will be the best QB to come out of Arizona.
That said , I'd give Rattler a chance. I like his skill set. As for his attitude....make it clear this is the NFL , which stands for "Not For Long" for low-round draft picks with attitude.

What attitude? According to anyone who actually knows him, played with him or talked to him in the SEC he's a hard working, humble kid that is a great team mate. That includes SEC media too

That fact he fell so far is absurd to me there have been far worse QBs in the past who were drafted much higher than him, the Saints got themselves a steal, hopefully he can use this as a fire to fuel him in the future.

Dude was throwing for 40 yards with the flick of a wrist when he was 14 WOW!!!!!! But he throws way too many interceptions. His interception to touchdown ratio is not good
Taysom Hill is on that NO roster also, don't forget -- which is another body who makes the QB room more crowded. If Rattler can stay the course he may eventually be QB3 or QB2 sooner rather than later. But has to be sure he dots his i's and crosses all t's in order to get there.

Drafting Zach Wilson in the fifth round would have been fine. The problem is, Zach Wilson was grossly over-drafted. He had no business being the number two pick in the draft!

Why make a video when you have done no research and just serve lazy takes? There is plenty interviews w Shane Beamer, Dowell Loggains or just people around the SEC, even from other teams. No one questions Spencers character, his work ethic or talents. Nor how tough he is. Everyone knows we had a bottom Oline, running game and defense for most of last season. Spencer had 1 reliable receiver. Only teams worse than us were Vandy and Arkansas. But there are stats for that too if you don't trust what SEC people say. And contrary to the other USC w Williams South Carolina had to play the best defenses in the country. Williams showed how he looked against a good defense against Notre Dame even though he had a better Oline and more weapons.
