    Thank you so much for putting Marugame Udon on your video. I went to Hawaii last year and went to Marukame and was in love with that place and I’m happy that I see that there’s a place only about 2 hours away from where I live. I’m definitely going there to try it out.

    Thanks for the great suggestions in my city! Definitely going to check it out. Also the pho restaurant you went to is technically in the TL but that particular area is called Little Saigon as well. I used to live on Polk and Eddy.

    Wow, hadn't known there's a Marugame in SF! I was just drooling over the thought of hitting it up in Hawaii on vacation next month. And will definitely need to try Mensho and the Vietnamese restaurant. Have had tons of pho, bun rieu, etc., but never that particular 'dry pho' or 'hu tieu' as I see someone calls it.

    Fun fact for you TJ, and everyone else, "Ha Nam Ninh" - was a big province in Northern part of Vietnam. Now it was divided into 3 small provinces: Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh. Nam dinh is where pho origins from. :D

    San Francisco's Tenderloin district has a reputation for being sketchy, but it's got fantastic ethnic restaurants and a lot of backpackers' hostels too.

    I live in the Bay Area and still can’t bring myself to line up at Mensho. Going on three years and lines aren’t dying down. The other 3 spots are solid. Not too far in the tenderloin where the dry pho was is turtle tower if you like Vietnamese chicken noodle soup!

    Hey cupofTJ, it’s not dry pho, it’s another type of noodle called “hu tieu”. Just fyi! Really enjoy your videos though!!

      Can you describe "hu tieu" noodles in detail? What ingredient is it made out of? egg or rice noodles or ? what shape does is it? and what country is it from? Thanks

      @@Kevin-zi9ku Phở = beef/chicken broth based, NO PORK; only using rice noodles (Vietnamese call this type of rice noodle="phở"); originally from Northern Vietnam.
      Hủ Tiếu = pork broth based; using rice noodle (this type of rice noodle is a little bit different from phở noodle. It's slightly more chewy since they add tapioca flour with rice flour to create the chewy texture); originally from Chinese people who lived in Southern Vietnam and Cambodia.

      That is not dry Pho. That dish is called Hu Tieu and is the dry version. You don't put the broth in the bowl though as there already special sauce to eat with it.

      Yohannes You should try it, it's pretty good. But you have to order "Hu Tieu Kho", kho means dry. Cuz if you ask for Hu Tieu, it will come as a bowl of soup (almost like a pork pho, different nood tho).
