Great video but why do even watch experts incorrectly say a dive bezel is for timing how much "oxygen" you have 39:23. In normal diving we breathe regular air (21% oxygen) not pure oxygen, and it's a pressure gauge that will tell you how much air is left in the tank. A diving bezel is literally just to time the dive and safety stops.

Best video on Rolex ever!! Seriously loved it! I have a few questions about collectors:
Why isn’t the watch world shouting “thank you” to Rolex for finally actually producing a “Blueberry” sub? Isn’t this what collectors have been asking for? Or why is it that collectors lament when Rolex listens and produces “stella” like dials. Didn’t they (we) ask for the old days? And finally, why is it that collectors are not saying, thanks for listening when Rolex slims down the lugs and beefiness of the submariner case? Didn’t collectors hate the maxi case? I have not seen a video pointing out any of these things. Rolex actually listens to the collector community! This is the most “collector” focused watch rollout we’ve seen in some time. We even received a Kermit with a ceramic dial (also lamented for by collectors)!

The jury is still out regarding that wider bracelet and larger case. The ratios look slightly off like it’s been stretched slightly wide in photoshop. I guess it’s a case of having to readjust to a new design having been used to a 40mm design for so many years. Some wrist shots coming through show the Sub to wear large on some guys. Flat wide and large. Almost into SeaDweller territory. It would be good to get this new guy on the wrist in person to get a feel of how it sits. Hopefully not too many months/years to wait. This latest iteration seems to be moving a rugged chunky steel tool watch into a flashy dress piece especially the polished centre link versions. Oh yes. And about that new price...

Obviously, Rolex is correcting all of their sins pf the previous blocky Ceramic model. Now the new Sub 41 looks like a direct lineage from the 5 digit Submariners. One issue with the new LV is the best reason to own a LVC “Hulk” was the green sunburst dial but Rolex took that away and left the milky green ceramic bezel that wasn’t universally liked. The white text on the gold models feel off and not as complete of a look as the gold text. Obviously black on black is the no brainer winner in overall design execution and as THE “icon”. These will be unicorns for years.

That is why you keep hearing about them being scratch magnets. Its harder to work with because its softer and the heat generated by machining effects the metal

So here’s my opinion about Tudor. First, I think they purposely don’t have an outstanding finish because they are the prop value brand and if they would provide a finish like Rolex then that’ll be too competitive. So they have in-house movements yet they’re fat. I love my blue Pelagos and it’s worth every penny but the markers aren’t meticulously aligned and I excuse it because it is a value prop BUT deep down I still think it should be perfect, $4k isn’t chump change for a guy like me :-). Look at Omega, I own the Sedna/SS (210.22.42.20.01.002), it’s perfectly finished, even after I louped it. Tudor’s finish should be like this, the watches thinner (we know they can do it).

Natra no, it’s a deliberate decision by Rolex. It’s much more costly to have double AR just on the cyclops than it is to apply on the entire crystal, which is what Rolex does. The coating process is several steps more complicated. Plus, Rolex uses high quality AR crystals, better than most brands. I coat many of my watches with double AR where the glass basically looks invisible from most angles, and I never do it on my Rolex, because it kills the quality and destroys the overall aesthetics.

    • @Cerim112

@@crybabyteamo It is not a deliberate move because they think it looks better it is a cost-saving move and there's nothing to do with the aesthetics if you look at all rolexes advertisements about their watches you cannot see any glare on the glass but when you look at it in real life then it looks cheap it's all in the glaring in different angles. And my friend how much do you think a Rolex cost to produce. And I have a Breitling have owned a Rolex and I also owned Omega and the Rolex looks cheap in comparison and it has all to do with the crystal because it does not have AR coating.

@@Cerim112 I don't think you read my comments properly. So here it is again: it is more expensive/costly, whether it's for Rolex or whoever else, to produce a crystal with only double-AR on the cyclops, than it is to coat the entire crystal with double AR. The economies of scale will not address the per unit cost issue entirely due to the specific process involved to coat just the cyclops. I know this for a fact because I contract lab to coat watch crystals. By the way, the way Rolex manufactures and polishes its crystal is also different from other companies. If you really handled an Omega/Breitling crystal vs. a Rolex crystal by hand, you would know. I refrain from arguing in the aesthetics angle because that's highly subjective, but in my personal opinion I prefer my Rolex just as is, while I do have 100% of the means to coat the entire crystal with double AR into an "invisible glass" at a marginal cost.
