The ending of this song is filled with such unspeakable sorrow. I guess it's true that music is one thing that gets the closest to expressing the inexpressible.
were doomed to this earth, but with melodies and amazing sounds like this... really will just help us distract the look toward our self ignorance!!! simply a real face of beauty!!!!
Reminds me of the "Eviga Riket"-story by Cult of Luna. Or maybe the other way round, as this one was released first. Anyway, beautiful song, with or without a video...
Shit day but god this song has made me feel so much better! But then again all Swallow the sun's work is magnificent and uplifting, Oh if only they came to Australia.....
"I wander between two worlds / No one can see me" and "But I swear / I will put them to eternal sleep /Then I can leave..." seems to be about a soul unable to pass on (read: die for good), and is being tormented by apparent wish of revenge (which manifested in mirror-scene). perhaps she was drowned (cloth on the water might serve a symbol of it) to the stream, i dont know but it seems to be linked to the house.
most rock/metal clips are really dull and {often} dumb (my opinion, of course), but this video is beautifully shot and creates a mood like the song. Swallow the Sun is like the Pink Floyd of doom/deah metal.
@rmed30, Swallow (live at FME 2006) starts with this kind of stuff but later descends to more traditional chaos. Descending Winter is a quickie, dont fall asleep goes doomy on its outro but before its basically sts's view on melodeath if you will. Weight of the dead, the massive closing track of their latest starts with in your face riffage before going doomy. it ends with absolutely epic kind of crushing ambient segment. its HUGE. Deadly Nightshade from their first is also .. ehh. sped up, heh
this song reminds of reading that book, and the author was obviously morbidly suicidal, the most sorrowful depressing hopeless book ever, and i finished it...... dun dun dadun!!!
I seriously tried my best to appreciate this song in any eccentric way possible... but I just cant seem to manage... if any is able to take the time to explain to me the beauty that I am obviously missing in this, please do and I ll be in your debt
Very spooky song. It leaves a strane feeling behind inside you. Beautiful. Does anyone what they mean about the knew release. I forget the name, something plague... They said it is one song in three parts and that it is 35 minutes long, then they mention something about it coinciding with a short film. Help anybody?
its going to be basically one song, 35 mins long but technically its divided to three "movements", kinda subsongs or something. and yes, Plague of butterflies was intended to be the OST for a short film but they had to ditch the original idea. however, they havent arsed the idea completely and are looking for another method for it. so it album comes first, film later (if they find the means for it)
@ihavetourettesxx well, i will say a proper high tempo blastbeat takes a load of concentration to perform and very much patience to master. a drummer is the conductor of his band, and it is proper for rapid passages
soooo goood, doom at its finest. The cinematography in this video is absolutely awesome!, I love the shots of the band under the spotlight. Trust me I'm not one for spamming on videos but if you guys are into doom perhaps you should check out my band Where She Wept.
"Epic is now used to describe Rhapsody of Fire, Dragonforce, Nightwish and Dragonball Z." Hahahahaha. All of you need to check out Barren Earth, the band with Swallow The Sun, Moonsorrow, Mannhai and Kreator members. Excellent band.
Великолепная композиция!!! Слушаю годами ,и не наслушаюсь👏👏👏 браво!!!
Завораживающая композиция -- классика группы
The ending of this song is filled with such unspeakable sorrow. I guess it's true that music is one thing that gets the closest to expressing the inexpressible.
I can't get tired of listening to this, great song.
Божественно. Никогда не надоест
This song is great. I walk to this song everyday. Exercise is good ;-)
2022, still slowly and morosely headbanging to this.
The ending break down of this song is so legend. Love it
were doomed to this earth, but with melodies and amazing sounds like this...
really will just help us distract the look toward our self ignorance!!!
simply a real face of beauty!!!!
Every word i'll say to embrace this band will be needless because the music speaks for itself. The clip is just as awesome too. Thanks for posting
Im Going To See them Today!!!! Fantastic Band!! Stay Doom!!!!
this is one of my favorite bands for that reason
its so dam dark
This song is a masterpiece!! Those who say it's easy to play slow are idiots!! It's even harder to play slow....this drummer is a genius.
Goddamn. That one clean riff the lead guitar does towards the middle/end is so awesome. This song is amazing.
I LOVE HIS SCREAMING!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!
I love it how they are standing still with no emotion whatsoever. That's good.
the vocalist has one of the best growls in metal
great video great song
I really like the ending riffs of this song, they are very powerful and emotional.
Swallow the Sun is an awesome band!
dark.
foreboding.

Reminds me of the "Eviga Riket"-story by Cult of Luna. Or maybe the other way round, as this one was released first.
Anyway, beautiful song, with or without a video...
Right
Swallow The Sun and Evoken are the best Doom Metal bands in existence!!!
that hair shadow is so creepy i just started listening to doom metal today and i love this stuff
Shit day but god this song has made me feel so much better!
But then again all Swallow the sun's work is magnificent and uplifting,
Oh if only they came to Australia.....
Most doom bands cut their songs down to like 4min but not swallow the sun great song great video.
Breathtaking...
7:03 Is a facebraker
omg I love this band
Just awesome!
Most metal bands aren't very good at making music videos, but Swallow the Sun always seem to pull it off well.
Agreed, its beatiful.
Outstanding!
Without a doubt....this is the saddest riff I've ever heard 7:04
No wonder the other name for Doom Metal is Funeral Metal. The members standing there, motionless, it's like grieving.
i love the song, the end is perfect ¡¡¡
Love the ending to this song
Swallow the Sun FTW. I hope they tour the US again soon.
just beautiful and i like it what else matters
Amazing band
Hello Mr band Manager. Pls tell the band to perform this masterpiece next time they come to Romania. They OWE us this song :). Thank you.

Swallow the Sun is immeasurably cool for making a 9min+ music video. Immeasurably.
Love that pick scrape at 4:52 :)
Really?
I'm gonna be seeing them in February with Soilwork.
Can't wait =D
I just hope they don't fall asleep on stage XD

Another good Melodic Doom bands:
-Novembre
-November's Doom
almost full of them too :)

this song reminds of reading that book, and the author was obviously morbidly suicidal, the most sorrowful depressing hopeless book ever, and i finished it...... dun dun dadun!!!
i didnt like them the first time i listened to one of their songs either, 1 year late they were one of my favourite bands
Going to see them at Backbooth on Friday.
My favorite part is everything from 5:45 onwards.
well including the awesome instrumental parts too
pretty sweet video!
love it !!
Come on man! Music doesn't belong to a territory. Music is universal and has no boundaries. BTW , StS had a blast in North America.
The beauty of darkness
Epic is now used to describe Rhapsody of Fire, Dragonforce, Nightwish and Dragonball Z
liian kaunista. ei voi muuta sanoo
I seriously tried my best to appreciate this song in any eccentric way possible... but I just cant seem to manage... if any is able to take the time to explain to me the beauty that I am obviously missing in this, please do and I ll be in your debt

I think the "bored" expression is just normal, when I seen them live last month they looked bored.
its doom/death really. more doomy but there is an undeniable death metal influence in their early work
Tonight show will be.. the highest moment on my live..
STS !
soooo goood, doom at its finest. The cinematography in this video is absolutely awesome!, I love the shots of the band under the spotlight. Trust me I'm not one for spamming on videos but if you guys are into doom perhaps you should check out my band Where She Wept.
Misanthropic...but awesome...
i can see why pasi left,he clearly doesn't like playing slow doom anymore,it's a shame,he was a really good drummer and perfect for STS
"Epic is now used to describe Rhapsody of Fire, Dragonforce, Nightwish and Dragonball Z."
Hahahahaha.
All of you need to check out Barren Earth, the band with Swallow The Sun, Moonsorrow, Mannhai and Kreator members. Excellent band.
