Lindsey Burrow and Rob first met as children, attending the same primary school, and they shared a special bond. After high school, Rob's rugby career soared when he joined the Leeds Rhinos in 2001.
They married in 2006, solidifying their partnership and commitment to each other. They were blessed with three children - Jackson, Maya, and Macy.
In December 2019, Rob received a devastating diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND), a condition with no cure. Lindsey's response was one of unwavering support and determination. She became his primary caregiver, managing their household and providing loving care for Rob.
Last week, on Sunday 2nd June 2024, Rob Burrow passed away at Pinderfields Hospital from complications of motor neurone disease.
In a heartfelt tribute to Rob, Lindsey often spoke about his incredible strength and resilience. She described him as her hero, someone who faced the disease with unmatched bravery. Rob's public battle with MND brought significant attention to the condition, and Lindsey's unwavering support became a symbol of true love and dedication.
In her tribute, she wrote, "Although we knew this day would arrive, I am somehow still feeling at a loss for words that our loving, kind, and caring husband and father has departed. However, we take comfort from how much people’s love and continued support meant to Rob through his most vulnerable times."
She expressed gratitude to the rugby league community and others for their "outpouring of love" since his diagnosis and praised the MND team in Leeds and the staff at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.
Mrs. Burrow concluded, "He was simply the best. Our hero."
About Rob Burrow's funeral, Leeds Rhinos and Rob's family are still discussing plans for the public to pay tribute during the funeral, which will take place early next month.

Rob was a lovely person they say only the good die young don't forget its not a good bye its see you later Rob lives in your heart and the kids hearts you will all have great memories of what you did with Rob perhaps something stored away in your head and you haven't thought of it for a while and you will think about it you've had good and bad times but j think you'll have had more good than bad now it's your time to look after yourself and the kids I'm sure Rob would want you too and be happy love fran xxxxgod bless
