I became a languages teacher and now I'm studying Multimedia to also pursue Animation. I really love Multimedia, too. I went to school for baking and pastry arts and am now a full-time baker! My previous jobs were mostly centered around cupcakes, cakes (custom & wedding)- which was how I stumbled across your channel. It was your Adventure Time cake I fell in love with and how I discovered your channel. But cakes are not for me so now I work with doughnuts! I work for a doughnut shop which does 14 different doughnuts (15/16 depending if its a weekend) and coffee/tea. It's great it is so much fun and I love it.

I have my associates degree in fine arts and I love painting! I want to become a teacher but at the moment I am a full time night manager of a McDonald’s....yay for kids
Currently I'm a homemaker/homeschool mom, which I LOVE! My degree is in religious studies. I have been a pastor and a K-2 teacher. I have no idea what I will do when my kids are grown. In the meantime, I love what I'm doing.:)

I went to school for anthropology (spoilers: I'm not an anthropologist now), and it was some of the best learning I've ever done. I have never enjoyed learning more than I did, despite my depression and the hard times I went through getting my degree (which I did finally accomplish after 7 years of university/college education, about a year ago). I have always been interested in law, however, and I wanted to get into that field. After a pure stroke of luck I now work as a paralegal, and I absolutely love it! While I'm not doing anything remotely related to anthropology right now, I'm glad I went to school. It taught me that I can get through difficult times and accomplish something. I always recommend some sort of extra schooling to anyone because it opens your world up to so many new experiences, people, and possibilities. I wouldn't be the person I am today if I hadn't gone to college.
Christine Bileau i went for anthropology too! And also don't technically work in anthropology today but i do feel it applies to everything. It really encourages empathy and open mindedness, even to thought processes you may disagree with... because ultimately, what's more important than differences is our shared humanity

Hi Cassie. Art is a great choice, but if your passion really is for science, there are loads of great options out there too. Getting a BSc in a scientific field would get you ready to then move into a masters and research programme in the scientific field. We have a science offering here at Bedfordshire too which might be worth checking out.
I aspire to take an English and creative writing course as an undergraduate degree and then, for a post graduate degree, I would very much like to study either Journalism, Law or simply get a masters in English. That is certainly the best case scenario. Despite my age (14) I have always idolised the thought of academia and see no problem in have aspirations and long term goals no matter your age. As for a career I can say that I know yet for sure. I like the idea of either a writer, barrister or a journalist - all of which would be amazing! Nothing, however, is set in stone though and I’m trying my best to keep my options open. 🥀
I originally went to school for biology but I got bored with memorizing species names and bones and niches and what have you. I always thought it was what I wanted but then I took chemistry and the teacher liked me so much that he asked me to do chem study groups and then a lab assistant. And I fell in love. Good teachers are always the ones who help you to find your passions. I do have my degree in chemistry and I have a career in the field (even though it's the most boring chemistry out there). But I took a year, now two years off to work on my book for publication. Though, I would really like to go back to school as well :) you're really inspiring. And I love who and what you promote...aka school and education :)

This video focuses on our School of Art and Design, but we also have a campus in Bedford which teaches all of our teacher and education degrees too. Maybe something like Primary Education with QTS would be for you?
I studied Japanese at uni and really loved it. I thought everything was possible, but after applying for one job after another and got rejected, I ended up in a hotel.
I loved helping people getting around in the city and so on, but it wasn't just right for me..
So, I took a really really reaaaally deep breath and went to uni again. Now doing computer science (and hopefully will get my degree next year in April )
I'm in my final year of my Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Archaeology! Then I'm finishing a BA in English, which will take one more year. Then off to grad school for Near Eastern Archaeology. I love Ancient Near Eastern pottery, especially the late bronze and iron ages. Hopefully I get to work full time as an Archaeologist one day! It's just a bit of a road to get there haha.
Ever since I was little I've wanted to be a veterinarian. I think this is because I've always looked at being a vet differently. This is because I know how much pets mean to people, and when I was 6 or 7 years old I got my dog Dutchy. She is a full grown dachshund and I love her very much. This past summer my family and I went camping, and while we were camping my dog fell off a bunk bed and hit her abdomen on another bed. After seeing if she was okay I put her out in the "living room" part of our trailer. After awhile I went to go check on her and she had peed blood. I got so caught up and worried about her that I was sobbing and having a terrible panic attack. While this was happening my blood pressure rose so high my nose started gushing blood. The next morning we took her to the local vet and it just turned out to be a urinary infection that could be easily fixed with some antibiotecs. From this I realized how much she meant to me and how she has helped me through so many things so, to me, being a veterinarian is like helping humans by helping their pets. I've always worried about the well-being of everyone I know and I feel like being a vet is my way of giving back to the world. And now that I'm done with my stupidly long tangent I just wanna say, Love you Jamie!

I’m current still in the weird ground between high school and college and I had to give up my dream art school because of money. I just recently applied to a college to major in communication design so I’m hoping I’ll be able to fulfill my dreams of creating art for a living even if it’s not for cartoons or animated movies :’)
I've been thinking about going to art school as well.. I dropped out of high school several years ago, but I've been studying to retake all the hs exams so I can get into uni/college, hopefully by next autumn..^^
I want to get into film production but right now I’m going to a career center that is partnered with my high school and I’m taking a wildlife and resource management class and that is for 3 hours of my school day. It is super fun learning about the environment and I plan on making a documentary as apart of my end of the year senior project. It feels weird knowing a class I have taken for almost two years for a career in the field is most likely not where I am going to end up but I’m just grateful that I learned that before going to college. I used to be in an animation club at my old school but since joining the career center I haven’t had the time or resources I want to do that anymore but I would love to animate again. I find animation so fascinating and I have nothing but love to give to people who do.

I think more schools and university's should address mental health. Especially with all the stress put on the students. It's important, and not something that should be ignored in schools. It's really nice to see them care about it. :)

I studied english for my degree and now I'm a designer/graphic artist! At the time I didn't know what I wanted to do, so it's important to study something you're interested in, even if you're not sure about your path later on.

You seem like such a sweet and lovely person! And your art is INSANE!! :O As someone who has believed that you don't really need a degree for an art career, your point about it being a good thing to experience the struggle of getting a degree makes so much sense and got me thinking! It's true that pressure creates diamonds, and adversity can make us better people :D I do wish more schools and companies actually prioritized mental health because some of the things they make students and workers go through are just too ridiculous sometimes

Minnie i have no personal experience with this, but why don't you try doing other things (cooking, art, etc) and try to learn new skills? you might find an interest in something that you've tried, and learn a few skills along the way.

I went to university to study Ethology (animal behaviour), I still have a bit left on my final thesis, work and life came in between. I worked as a full time dog instructor, then combined that with being a high school teacher and an artist and now I work full time as an artist/illustrator 😁
I'm a senior in high school and applying to mechanical engineering. I really like math/science, but I also really like art; I think my main passion is just...making stuff. Engineering took my interest because I can make stuff that helps society and solves real problems that people face.

I was a freelance graphic designer, making posters, invitations, t-shirts (I used to screen print), business cards, all sorts of things. I designed for local business and local chapters of larger companies such as Starbucks and Old Navy. I also worked as a photographer's assistant and designed all of the photo books. Fast forward about 8-10 years, I'm now a stay-at-home-mom of two who doodles a bit on the side when she isn't covered in tears, food fights, poop, bath water, and who knows what else XD. I also worked through school in retail management and food service (hence my ties with Old Navy and Starbucks.) Texas Tech University School of Visual and Performing Arts class of 2007! I have a degree in computer science. Originally applied for maths, then actually enrolled on "Maths with Computing", then just ended up transferring to computer science in my second year.
I did all of that because of my pushy dad (well, he wanted me to go into medicine too, maths/computing was my non artistic rebellion) and I regret it so badly... I wish I'd done something artistic.
I'm currently at university School of Creative Arts North Wales (Glyndwr Univeristy) studying Graphic Design and Multimedia, and honestly when looking at univeristies (did UCAS twice) soon as I walked in there I knew I was home.
I'm currently getting my degree in Philosophy! Yay education! I love learning what I'm passionate in, regardless of if I will end up being a philosophy professor or an artist as I want to be, I'm sure the education will help as I believe in intrinsic value of knowledge and education.
Important note: Every art school is vastly different and some can be miserable. Always be sure to research the school you want to attend and be sure they will nourish your creativity and that it is right for YOUR style. You don't want to be an abstract artist going to a traditional school and you DEFINITELY don't want to be a traditional artist going to an abstract school.
A school that focuses on students mental health?! Oh wow!! If my schools had done that I can’t imagine where I would be today. I kept switching schools because my depression was way too overwhelming and now I’m not going to graduate with my class because of it. I hope more schools follow this trend! Its so much more manageable when help is within reach and doesn’t cost $100 an hour

I wanted to work for pixar and go to school for animation. However I discouraged myself because I compared myself to other people and other students art work too much. My teachers did as well which I think is something you shouldnt do. Dont compare ones students art to anothers. Everyone has their own style. I also encountered people who didnt agree manga was an art form which angered me at the time. I ended up graduating with an English degree and Bio minor. Im alright with English but it doesnt give me joy. Sometimes I wish I could reapply to art school and an animation program. Maybe I will one day. However I know that requires a more recent portfolio so I should get cracking I guess.
I have a masters degree in musicology and quite proud of it too. Especially since I researched a subject that really needed more research and hardly has any from before. I intend to get a PhD some day and continue my research on south-sami music. I guess technically you can call me an ethno-musicologist, but I am currently not working due to my health. I'll get that PhD some day though!
I did a four year psychology degree and now work as a (mental health) therapist in an NHS service in London. I've just applied to go back to uni to do a three year Clinical Psychology Doctorate program ^_^
Hey Jamie! Even though I have a degree in Organizational Leadership... not many people know what that is, so I’m considering going back to school for a degree in marketing. I’m not sure which type of marketing I want to focus on yet, but I do feel like it would use more of my creative side! I’m not good at painting... I used to draw a lot... but now I craft random stuff, sew, and I think I could get back to my drawing. Keep inspiring everyone who watches your channel!

In all honesty, I'm a bit young to be deciding on my future right now (going to be thirteen in December) but I'd like to be an artist. I'll probably start a webcomic or something because I always loved writing and to be honest I had a lot more natural talent for writing than art.
I am better at art now, though. Being an artist requires effort and practice, having talent is just a head start :)

I'm a political science major in my first year of school right now! I'm actually watching this in my dorm room while my roommates are out 😊. But I just met with a art professor today and I really want to add a minor! I'm super excited and I hope my portfolio gets accepted. Sorry to get long and emotional, but part of the reason why I'm doing this is because I've started watching a lot of your videos these few months! I'm always watched, but usually more casually but being so far away from my parents and friends is hard and your videos always given me a break from first year stress. I was going away to London to study Digital Media Arts at LSBU, but then met my boyfriend here and decided to stay in Lisbon instead and do Multimedia Arts at Uni here. I love London, but I since then discovered I love Lisbon as well, and that I can be happy here. I still think "what it I went" from time to time, but I shouldn't. I have a great course, good and interesting paying jobs as a freelancer, and a great supportive bf. My dream though is to work in Game Design. And since my bf is into programming, he's going to Uni to learn more about it and we want to make a game together!
Jamie, I have been watching your TH-cam videos for quite some time, I’m a bit of a silent TH-cam watcher however I follow you on Instagram and I have to say I find it so encouraging that your not at your end goal (career wise)! As an outsider it’s so easy to see how amazing you are and all you’ve achieved so far and to feel disheartened about myself, but to see you say you want to finish your degree has really resonated with me. I’m 27 and I applied to some art uni’s when I finished college, however I then met my husband and fell pregnant at 19! Then my little boy was born with cystic fibrosis and I left any aspirations I had behind to make him my focus..but they slowly started to creep back in and I just knew I needed to go back to it. So now I’m 27 and in my final year of my illustration degree. 🙂 sometimes I feel like I’ve left it too late when I look at other amazing artists..but I know I have to keep going!
Love to hear your enthusiasm for education :D I feel that it's not expressed enough on TH-cam that education can be a good thing! Personally I struggled through my university course due to depression, anxiety and general medical concerns but I wouldn't take back my time spent there. I grew so much as a person and I ended up meeting the love of my life! Career wise, I haven't used my degree (I did animal conservation and biodiversity!) but I am working along side another big passion of mine - Disney! I work in a Disney Store in Greater London and its been the best experience in my life so far! I hope you share more of your journey with education if you decide to carry on with it :D xxx
I'm currently in grad school, and finish in six months minus a day. Occupational therapy, and I hope to someday work either in mental health, inpatient rehab (possibly specializing in spinal cord injury, not sure yet), and maybe someday far in the future, teaching.
I'm in senior year of high school and it's been my dream for quite a long time now to study Illustration. I love to learn, and have teachers to learn from, I can only imagine and dream about what it's like to have that, all about art. I love art, to draw and paint, but I have never been taught any of it, I've been wanting it since I was aware that it existed. (never stopped me from creating tho ;) ) Right now I'm very frustrated, because I can't afford it. Also, in my country we don't have arts and design programs, so it'd have to be abroad (which I'd LOVE) but I don't think I can even afford the application. I spend my days looking for scholarships online that match my situation, but it's so difficult to find them... Right now I've got my eyes fixed on Ocad u and Sheridan college (Ontario, Canada) for many reasons. I'm trying to think of ways of making this possible for me. Whenever the thought of me not getting to do it comes to mind, I get such a disgusting feeling, I feel so sad, so mad, and down. I can't imagine myself not studying illustration, or animation, or anything art related, the only thing I see myself studying in the meanwhile I get to go for the arts, is literature, but neither literature is available where I live. My parents don't want me to 'lose time' and not study a career while I get to go for the arts, but to study something I don't like would be like drowning my soul, I need to do arts, and learn things that set my soul on fire, and learn how to inspire others the same way, and to create things that talk to the people's deepest part. I know I can do it, I just need guidance on the way. If you read this until the end, thank you. Now I'm going to ask, please, if you know about any way I can get to study illustration, could you share it? It would be really helpful. I live in Venezuela, btw. Hope this wasn't loo long or boring to read :)
I have a bachelors of Fine Arts, I majored in sculpture because I didn't fit in anywhere else. I am a performance artist who is now pursuing a second degree in elementary education. I don't what I want to do, but I know I find teaching fulfilling, and art captivating.

I originally went to school as a physician assistant but my goals were always unclear to me and that was honestly so depressing. Ever since I met my boyfriend (funny we actually met on sword art online for the ps4) he helped me figure out what I wanted to do so now we're both aspiring to be game designers to bring joy to everyone just like how sao did for us~
Upon high school graduate I had wanted to go into animation but out of state tuition put that option completely out of the question. I spent college flipping between all sorts of majors (art, pharmacology, English, animal ecology, psychology) before finally graduating with a degree in psychology. I worked as a domestic violence survivor advocate for several years before deciding to stay at home and raise my kiddos. At which point I also dove back into art and painting. I bring all those years of dabbling and learning into my artistic work today. 😊
I went to school for baking and pastry arts, and graduated with an associates degree. I wouldn't say that I don't want to go back to school (I seriously love learning and wouldn't mind going back), but I know myself, as well as the college system where I would attend, and I know it would not mesh well. My hopes are to go back to school super part time and get a management degree, and hopefully take more creative writing courses and just writing in general. I like my job, I get to bake or cook every day, my coworkers are fine, and I can see myself in my current job for a little longer. But I do want to expand my knowledge in my other fields of interest and see if I could be successful. Here's hoping I guess ^.^;

I’m having my BIG EXAM that determines my future and I’m trying my best right now to do well so I can be an architect! This university really peaks my interest and I might put it on my list after I get my results!

i'm majoring in computer engineering (which is pretty fun for me), but i love making art in my free time (when i actually find free time, haha). i'm actually learning about 3D graphics in one of my courses right now. :)
I'm currently at university studying criminology and forensics with hopes of becoming a detective or CSI. Before uni, I was worried that I would struggle because in my final year of A level I found it hard to get good grades, but the environment and teaching style of a university is so different from a college or sixth form in the UK, I'm enjoying the learning and I feel like I'm doing really well. My advice to people who are sick of education and are avoiding uni for that reason, is to rethink your options, university is SO different and I'm so glad I applied, it's an amazing experience with a teaching style you won't have experienced yet, it's your chance to be completely independent and meet people who are interested in the same things, just go for it. If you hate it you don't have to stay either, but you can say you tried it.
I just finished my first year of a Visual Arts degree and it's really stunted my own artmaking practice, I find it so hard to make art for myself anymore and I don't even know if I still want to be an artist which is so sad. But I took an Anthropology unit and I loved it so much I'm going to change to a double major of the two! I found visual arts not quite academic enough while anthropology was so interesting and stimulated my brain much more. I don't know what I'll do with my degree exactly, but I just love learning!
I’m in school for animation right now! It’s the best choice I’ve ever made. I went to art school right out of college and while I loved it I was not in a good place mental-health-wise and I ended up leaving and moving to Austin and basically working every kind of shitty job I could get. Then, kind of spur of the moment, I decided to apply to an animation school in Seattle (Digipen) and I got in! I go there now and it has changed my whole life :)
I went to art school (ECUAD) and I had issues with the teachers not accepting my art as art on more than one occasion. But I did discover a whole new medium (screen printing/print making) that I never considered working in before even applying. I don't really do much art anymore, other than paper crafts (card making and small banners). I'm in love with my job now even though it has nothing to do with art. I wish you all the best with animation school, I know how much work goes into that but Its also so rewarding in the end.
im applying for an arts college this year to do my A levels there, im wanting to do photography but in the college, your first year you get to do everything so see what you like and then the 2nd years its more focusing on what you enjoy and want to go into. I love doodling and taking pictures an filming so i never know what i could go into graphic design, animation, cinematography etc. etc.
I spent 4 years of community college doing nothing but the bare minimum of classes and dreading every day, wondering why I all my peers from high school were succeeding above and beyond. I became the president of the biology club within a month of transferring to my new school, and I couldn't be happier. I'm aiming to be an aquatic veterinarian. :3
I teach right now at a non-for-profit art school while I'm going to art school for my bachelors (maybe masters) in teaching! My end goal is to teach highschool level art. :)

I went to school for Writing and Journalism, I currently work for a newspaper but my big goal is to become a published author. I'm writing a book right now :)
I want to go into the cake decorator and catering entertainment field. But art school is just so much more fun! So I'm going to an art school😂 probably some super expensive private school like RISD cause why not? But I agree that the environment is just like no other and I would have never gotten into art if it weren't for my art teacher either😊 she's my best friend now( we are close in age)
Next year I'll be starting my masters for speech language pathology and ideally I'd like to work in an outpatient clinic working with people with strokes, traumatic brain injuries, etc. While I never aspired towards any career in particular, I feel so lucky that I settled on a path that combines so many of my interests! I hope others who may feel unsure or indecisive find something like this for them!!
For me, uni isn't everything. I got in to my childhood dream uni this year, but was dreading the course and years ahead of me... i had already went to college to do an HND for 2 years. Then the day after I reluctantly enrolled I got an email to say I had been accepted to my dream job in a major company as a junior graphic designer. Amazing how things work out!
I went to school and got my bachelors in music. I then got a job as a music librarian, but decided I wanted to teach elementary school. I’m currently teaching elementary school before and after school music programs and private lessons. Im currently in school getting my masters in music education, which I should have by next spring. I absolutely love what I do and never want to stop teaching music.
