Great to see some F1 action Thomas. Such a shame that Tamiya or any of the other makers don't seem to have much in F1 of recent times. Given the amount of carbon fibre used in the modern F1 cars, they really lend themselves to some super detailing. I like your carbon fibre decal work as it really sets the model off. Looking forward to the rest of the build.
Cheers Allan - I presume that model kit companies find themselves priced out of making model kits these days. Also aerodynamics are so complicated, that would push up the price of making a kit too. I'm happy with how the carbon fibre is going down so far but I'm also looking at as many images of the real car as possible to get it in the right places!
Looking good Thomas! Fiddly builds these F1 cars, pleased with my Williams FW14b, now started Tyrrel P34. Very time consuming builds but they look fantastic when completed. Where do you get your photos of the real cars? Good work Pal👍
Thank you Paul. The Tamiya P34 was the first F1 model I ever made! Quite the experience! I get them from lots of places but some on here are from a website called gurneyflap.com
Awesome work! I have a quick question, i recently got myself this same kit and I'm looking forward to build it, but do you need to paint it? I see that parts already come in black and red.
Thank you. So you can leave it the colours on the sprues but some parts may need painting, the rear wing is moulded in black I think but needs to be mainly white. The bodywork you can probably leave though.
Enjoyed the build and commentary. Well done and the did you know segment is wonderful too. Boy I miss the old f1 era
Thanks a lot Graham - glad you enjoyed it. Hard to believe this car is 15 years old!
@@BOABModels true... I was only a kid when I watched the 2006 season. Missed the good old times
Great start to this build, fantastic carbon work by the way! Loving the attention to detail with the sponsor decal work on the body too
Cheers mate. I'm a bit of a weirdo because I really like decals.
Nice work Thomas. I'll be watching
Thanks a lot, Mike.
Looks like it's building up nicely Thomas. The additional carbon fibre looks great.
I agree Simon.
Cheers Simon. Hopefully I'll have a lot left over for my next Formula car.
Looking really good Thomas!
I'm drinking coffee from you mug right now.. 🙂☕👍
Thanks a lot Tim. 😁☕

@@BOABModels Thank you too ☺️
Great job 😮 were can I buy this Marlboro decals?
Thanks. So the black ones were found on eBay but they didn't have the nose one so I printed it myself.

@@BOABModels Awesome! Thank you! I'll probably still give it some more gloss to it as the red it comes with seems a bit off.
You're welcome. Good luck!
This is not an easy decal job, with the carbon fiber and all. You did great, Thomas.
Many thanks, Gustavo. I like doing decals but they also make me nervous.
Where do you get these kits?!
So this one was bought from Kent Models in the UK. They have a good range of Japanese brands.
So what type of material is the carbon fiber? Is it water slide?
Yes, I think I used Tamiya carbon fibre decals for this. Is comes in a big sheet of water slide Decal and you cut it to size
