This was one of the best painting videos I’ve seen. You showed the whole process and listed the tools you used as well as some tips. Thank you very much!
Thank you! I'm about to put the color on my bathroom walls and I was afraid I had to prime two times. Color is showing through. Now I know I don't have to! 👍
I like to say thanks for making this video as i was wondering if i was putting on primer right as it looked really bad and i could se the colour still, go figure it looks like the same colour im trying to cover over ! lol
Hi. I put primer over the brown color to paint beige on top of it. Strangely the primer is not sticking to the wall. It actually runs down the wall. I applied a second coat and it happened the same thing. The brown color has been in this tv room for 7 years. The brown paint is water based as well as the primer. Any ideas of why this is happening? I applied the same primer to a different colored room and there was no problem with the primer at all. Your video was very relaxing and informative. Thank you!
Hi there ! Thanks for watching my videos and for the question. That is a mystery to me. Did you do any preparation to the surface before applying the primer? Like cleaning it with any cleaning solution or did you lightly sand the surface at all? If you are going over latex with latex you shouldn't have that issue. Even without the preparation work it usually sticks no problem. My first thought was if you used a cleaning product on the surface prior to priming if that would have a negative effect. Other then that I am not sure why that is happening.
I think you should sand it before applying primer. The reason your primer came off was probably the brown surface wall was too smooth ( that the primer couldn’t catch onto). You would need to roughen up the surface, then apply a primer. Perhaps use like 150 grits sand paper ( use a stick if you are sanding a large area, for ease on your hands)
@@TheCanadianHomePainter thank you both for answering my question. I never knew what happened but after 3 coats the primer finally covered the brown color. I apologize I didn't see your answer sooner. Thanks again!

I need to paint a black room white. Do I put one layer of primer and 2 more layers of white? Thanks
That's what I would do

Good video
Thanks 😊
So is the light grey color an primer as well
How many layers of primer will i have to apply to cover a sage green colour?
1 coat of primer is all that is needed then 2 coats of the paint
Is primer a product or a method?
It's a product , where ever you buy the paint ask for primer and they will explain it
