I'm 6'5, I just bought my first Harley, it's a 2012 Electra Glide Ultra Limited. I was really excited after watching your video, because my boys up front go numb after about 30 minutes of riding, and my back starts bothering me. But! Amazon is saying this doesn't fit. I'm going to reach out to Mustang and see what they say. Thanks for the video man, you don't know how much you have potentially helped me!
When I still had the VTX, I was looking hard at Mustang seats! I don't have back issues, but I could never get comfortable on a cruiser, a backrest was the best thing I added to that bike (aside from the windscreen). Long distance rides are the true test on motorcycle seats. The next time you plan on hitting the parkway give me a shout.
Broncoride there’s nothing better than making and loving a new choice of modifications. I occasionally have back flair ups, at home I use a therapy/exercise ball instead of a solid chair. The improvement in my back was incredible. Your motorcycle seat looks extremely comfortable and functional on longer rides. Stay strong and stay healthy.
You will find it is easy to reach behind you on the road to turn the knob and fine tune the back rest. Also like most seats water will get into the seat through the stitching in the rain. Edit: I forgot to mention I bought the Summit, The front is 19" the same as yours but the back is 16" wide. My wife loves it.
Change the bars!! It is a game changer. I recommend the KST Six Bends. For you 12inc will be perfect. Just installed the 10 inch on my 22 street Glide and 2 years ago did the 12's on my 2020 Ultra. It will help your back for comfort.
That looks like a great seat, hope you still like it after a 80 or 90 miles. I opted with taking the skin off of my seat, redoing the foam with high tech foam and re skinning it. I’ll see how that works.
I used to have a mustang that came with my first Harley and I loved it. I have to worry about that knob also but my Harley backrest has a screw right there covered with leather and Mrs. HDR never had an issue so I think you will be fine. Now get your bars and you will be ready for vacation! Ride Safe
Shawn Smoaks got that seat for his RK. I tried a couple Mustang's on a couple Vulcans and they were better than stock, but not day long at all, but back then I don't think they had the extended reach seats. I think if I got a HD this seat would be a must.
Hey Colin. Hope you’re doing well. This video couldn’t have come at a better time. As you know I got a new Roadking. You have her floorboards. I have the tall boy seat. Im 6’3”. I had the 17 Streetglide too and put the tall boy from that on the Roadking when I traded it. I was looking at that exact same seat today. A friend of mine recommended it. I think this just sealed the deal. Great video and thanks brother.
Like you, I too have had back issues, probably a result of the work I do and having been hit 3 times on a bike. I currently have a HD Sundowner seat and adjustable backrest on my 2017 SGS. I've been considering the Hammock but I've also been looking at the same Mustang you just upgraded to. I'm thinking the combination of the Legend Revo A shocks and that Mustang seat might be what the Doctor ordered. I am a long distance rider when I can get away....
Great video C! I went with the "Saddleman Extended Reach" solo seat. Saddleman has great customer service and I am in love with them. Ive had 3 back surgeries and the Saddleman Solo Extended Reach is the bomb! My wife refuses to ride a bike and I'm ok with that.
That looks a great seat. Seeing you leaning back into it on the road looks so comfy. I think Knuckles might have the same seat or similar if I remember right. Nice review Colin!
Hey Collin I am thinking of putting a heated Mustang seat on my bike. Been looking at different seats seems Mustang is the one with the most positive comments. Liked your review.
That is a nice-looking seat brother thumbs up good video I hope you get a lot of use out of that I have been thinking about getting a Mustang seat for my Dyna Wide Glide take care catch you later brother
I've had my mustang seat for years. It's been on 3 bikes now! It will only get better the more miles you put on it. The screw will not be in the way of your misses. Oh and it will fit 08-21 model years in case anyone is wondering?
Looks good (says the guy who can't abide cruisers himself, haha), glad it's a game-changer for you, back issues suck if you just want to ride. I keep looking at your videos and wondering where you are, but haven't spent that much time in that part of southern MD so rarely see something I recognize!
Did I hear you say handlebar upgrade? Call Sid at KST Kustoms in Bremen Georgia (I live there) and tell them the guy at the bank recommended you! They will hook you up on some great bars. I highly recommend the 12 inch bars for the back. Yes, you will need a couple rides to get use to them, but you will not regret it!
Collin, to say "game changer" is an understatement! I picked up the same seat last year and it was NIGHT & DAY brotha! I had the Tall boy and like you, was good for long legs but absolute ASS Pain after about 50 miles. ZERO issues @ all with my back (or butt) You will only find joy with that Mustang seat. Side note: that cup holder on your highway bar, is that the standard Ciro or the "Big Ass" cup holder? Looking at getting something similar, be safe and ride that Freedom Machine brotha!
Harley upgrades are like potato chips can't have just one.. (or beers). Thanks i will check this one out for my 2020 Road-glide. I had a saddlemen road sofa on my 06 ultra it was a great seat did 1044 miles in one day on it , the newer saddlemen's are ugly. I have Seth Laam seat on my FJR they are great. Main thing I look for in a motorcycle can i do an Iron Butt on them. Good info once again. price looks pretty fair
Isn’t that the truth about potato chips. I’ve have a friend that has a Saddlemen and he likes it. It’s all subjective but I can tell you I found the right one for me.
Is there room for 2 up rider since it brings you back 2”? I have same issues as you, 60-80 miles due to bad lower back and wife rides with me, so I prefer backrest but scared she looses 2” if driver gains 2”.
Thanks for the video, great info. Was it higher or lower than the stock? I’m standing at 5’9” so I’m trying to find a great seat that doesn’t raise me higher than stock. My feet are flat on the ground now so I don’t want to compromise my stability
Great video!...been thinking of getting the hammock!...quick Q...so there was a noticable difference between the stock and the hammock!?....thanks for sharing!...stay safe...ride safe!😎🤙👍🤙👍🇨🇦
Big difference with padding and comfort. Night and day difference. Won’t push you back though and raises you up. It’s a great seat, just not right for me. If it went back more, I would have been set.
Biggest issue to a lot of us is the seat height. One thing l really like the way the Tallboy not only sets you back is also sets you DOWN. A lot of these extended seats set you back but also HIGHER which is a FAIL for me. Tried the Ultimate brand tall boy and same issue. That seat sets you back however the height is about the same or a bit higher as the stock seat. Huge fail for me.
From someone with moderate to severe back, shoukder and neck issues, Including surgeries, I would strongly suggest to upgrade at least your rear suspension to something like the Legends Revo A or similar, with preload & damper adjustments on the fly. Want to talk about a game changer, that allowed me to ride from 100 miles a day to 400-500 a day. I also went from the stock handlebars to the Yaffe 10" monkey bars with 9.5" pull back. Enjoy & appreciate your videos. Noodles. 2021 Street Glide Special

How do you like this backrest and the way it adjusts compared to the H-D backrest? This is one thing that scares me... losing my adjustable H-D backrest
@@Broncoride Thanks so much for the reply! Literally just got off the phone with Mustang when I saw this reply. I think this IS the seat I'm gonna go with. Thanks for the great review too! Ride safe!
Both good seats, I did the opposite of you though. Started with Mustang, ran it for a few years and bought the Hammock last fall. Personally like the Hammock better for my back issues. Again, both are good seats, just depends on what works for each individual.
I had to buy the backrest separate when I picked up detachable tour pack. It’s the same one that comes with the touring models that have the tour pack standard. SGS models don’t have them.
I like the fold down backrest. Makes it easy to get on. If you park anywhere you can take the backrest off and stow it.
Absolutely agree!

Put down 300 miles last weekend and I’m about to head out for 400 into the mountains. This seat is amazing.
I just finished an 1100 mile ride, and it was perfect.
Had mine for years just had it redone after 10 years memory foam installed. Makes the ride that much better
