    My first paper was bad. I revised for the test, but I just froze and my mind went blank. So I really need to do well on paper 2 and 3.

      Sorry to hear that, but I'm sure you can still do well on the other two papers. Good luck with your revision 🤞

      KayCrazzy LOL that happened to me once in a mock!! my advice do deep breathing before the exam and no last minute revision outside the exam hall. During the exam just take like a 1 min break before carrying on or go to the toilet to clear your mind.

    I thought I could revise lots during the exams, so did like all the revision the day before. Don't think I did that bad, but lots need to happen during the holiday. It wasn't too bad since I'd done like all past papers over many months.

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You've probably done a lot of work in class and with the past papers that you were probably more prepared than you think. Definitely put in the effort over the half term week and it'll hopefully pay off in the other two papers. Good luck 🍀

    • @bronze9005

      corbettmaths yea thanks. Need to do good since I want to so higher in IB. You also feel absolutely crap when you have clever peers and you're unsure I'd you did really well or not, whilst having people say they think they got 90% or full marks.

    Didn't get the result I wanted from paper 1 but no matter. As you said, it's all to play for and If I keep going with the attitude of success, I'm sure paper 2 and 3 will turn that around and I'll still get the 7.

On question 42 of the Very High Chance Higher paper (paper 2 and 3 preparation paper) it says that the video number to go with it is 309 but the video doesn’t exit nor does it match up with the question. I was wondering if you could help me find the video that goes with the question. Many thanks!! 😁

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure which paper you sat, but I do feel they will come up for both the Higher and also the Foundation papers. They might be on Paper 2 or even Paper 3, but I do believe they will (or should) be there. On Higher, it might be the harder non-linear version. Check out the Unseen Topic checklists for Paper 2/3 here: corbettmaths.com/2018/05/08/gcse-maths-summer-2018/ Any topic with a star would be a topic that I feel is really likely to appear

  • @SamOBrowne
    @SamOBrowne 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I could have done so much better on paper 1 - I knew a lot of the stuff but it left my mind in the exam, and I made stupid mistakes. Just some examples of such idiotic mistakes:
    using the wrong equation in the linear sequence simultaneous equations question
    getting cos and sin values mixed up, couldnt do the last question
    did area of a cylinder for the 5 marker instead of CSA
    I also ran out of time - if I had 15 minutes more I would have been able to recheck my answers and perhaps notice my stupid mistakes.
    I genuinely think I got around 30 marks. And I'm predicted an 8.
    I'm hoping i can get much better on paper 2 and 3, even though in the mock paper 1 was my best mark

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear that Paper 1 didn't go as you hoped, but with still 160/240 available. An 8 last year on Edexcel was 157, so with the marks you've got so far (perhaps as many as 40), that might mean you are chasing 117 out of 160, which is possible. Anyway, try to focus on just doing your very best... good luck

  • @malvanoss5021

    You - Sir - Are - A - Life - Saviour, btw roughly how much marks is it to get a grade 4 because that paper didn't go that well for foundation around 45-50% and I am scared I wont pass?

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything is definitely still to play (and study) for! A grade 4 on Edexcel in June 2017 was 50.83%, so two good papers and you'll be fine! Keep working hard and use these resources: corbettmaths.com/2018/05/08/gcse-maths-summer-2018/ GOOD LUCK!

    Hello , please help me I done badly in my foundation paper 1 maybe 30-35 Marks is there still time to save my grade and get that 4 ! Thank you

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, 30-35 would be enough along with two decent papers 2/3. Good luck! corbettmaths.com/2018/05/08/gcse-maths-summer-2018/

    Hi sir, paper 1 was honestly such an easy paper but I've lost so many marks to silly mistakes... I'd say my minimum score would be around 30... do you think I could still get a 7?

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might not have done as badly as you think... you'll definitely pick up lots of method marks. A grade 7 on Edexcel Higher in June 2017 was 41.33 marks per paper, so you can still definitely achieve that with hard work (and also you don't know how well you may actually have done on Paper 1 - you may be in the mid 30s, which is almost on track). Try not to worry about Paper 1 and really focus on Papers 2 and 3. corbettmaths.com/2018/05/08/gcse-maths-summer-2018/

    I found OCR higher paper 1 very hard, is there any tips you can give for me to try and ace the next 2 papers? I need at least a grade 5 in maths, but want a grade 6 or 7!

      wanted to ask if I am using the correct resource. Im sitting OCR higher, and our first paper was higher paper 4, then I have paper 5 next and then paper 6. When you have written paper 2/3, it refers to the 5 and 6 paper? By the way its a really useful list thanks so much - a lot better than using mathswatch in my opinioun!

    Sir I did your challenge paper because that was a very similar style to the exam
    I splitted it in half and it was out of 83
    I did it on 1 hour and 35 mins
    I got 65/83
    Do you think that would be an 8 ?
    Thank you for helping us in making these resources
    Could you PLEASE make more challenge papers because they are really helpful
    Wish us luck 😅😃😁

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Delighted it was useful and that's a great score. The challenge paper is a collection of questions and I didn't write it in the style of a usual paper, so can't say if it would be an 8... but I can say that it's really great doing so well on a tough paper! Good luck!

      Hi, sorry I don't think the challenge papers would be ready in time. If you go to the Unseen Topics checklist and visit corbettmaths.com/contents/ there are Practice Questions and Textbook Exercises for all the topics listed. If you go to the last question of each, you'll find some good questions

      corbettmaths I did the second half of the paper which was out of 80
      It was even harder than the previous half and I got 47/80
      Do you think that is superb or pathetic
      Thank you so much for helping me feel more confident for the maths exams

    Ok I’ve got a problem I’m a top grade student (not trying to be cocky here😂) I get 7/8 on my papers leading up to gcses I sat that first paper one the other day and it went badly I froze up I couldn’t answer basic questions and doubted simple addition and multiplication calculations. I walked out the exam hall and I instantly knew how to answer those questions it’s so frustrating as I love maths and want to take for a level it’s just a problem that I can do questions well outside the hall then in the hall it just doesn’t click ??!

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear Paper 1 didn't go as you hoped, but who knows, Paper 2/3 might be perfect papers for you. Keep revising and try not to put yourself under too much pressure... you can only try your best! Good luck

    Do you need to get 40+ marks in each paper? Like if i got 30 on the first could i still pass if i get good marks on paper 2&3 which?? Am really confused

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, all 3 papers are added together, so the better you do in a paper, the higher your overall mark. Please try not to think too much about your paper 1 (as you can't do anything about it now) and concentrate on doing as well as you can on Papers 2 and 3. 🍀🤞

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi did you do OCR? I have created papers for the AQA and Edexcel GCSE

    • @johnmellor932
      @johnmellor932 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The past papers we were given by my tutor as homework state OCR. I'm not a school pupil, I'm an adult doing it at day college. I've never really taken notice if it's AQA or Edexcel. What is the difference? My tutors have always recommended your youtube channel, I've downloaded your papers and will give them ago. Thanks.
      PS My tutor told us that they are excluding stem and leaf and trial and error questions from the exams. I'm assuming this is on the OCR exams. So I'm skipping those.

    • @johnmellor932
      @johnmellor932 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OCR.

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The content of OCR, AQA and Edexcel GCSEs are pretty much identical. The main difference is the order of the papers, AQA and Edexcel have their Non-Calc paper first, whereas OCR has it later. These resources may help: corbettmaths.com/2018/05/27/ocr-papers-2-and-3-june-2018/ ... more will be added over the next day or two. Good luck

      Hi, as I mentioned, a lot of students actually do a lot better than they think... usually because they pick up a lot more method marks than expected. Unfortunately there's not much you can do about Paper 1 now... so try to keep positive and focus on the 2 upcoming papers. There's loads of useful resources on Corbettmaths to help. Best of luck with your revision 🤞

    For one of the questions the answer was 90-2x, where the question said to leave it in the simplest form. I wrote 2(45-x), as at the time I thought that was the simplest form :( Will I still get my 4 marks? Or will they cut out 3 or 4 marks and give me 1 mark only? The question was out of 5 marks. Please help, this has been bugging my since I left that exam hall and talked to my friends.

    • @corbettmaths
      @corbettmaths  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When marking exams they "ignore subsequent working" so they will give you full marks for 90-2x and ignore the factorising... so you'll be fine. Well done
