Obviously Layton is fabulous but I’ve been really enjoying watching Nikita blossom more this series. His creativity with the choreography and even his dancing is just incredible. Clearly having someone as advanced as Layton this year has allowed him to really showcase what an amazing professional partner he is ❤
I love watching Nikita to the point I don’t watch Layton much ..I feel Layton is still staging his dancing as opposed to just dancing from the heart ..to theatrical for me personally ..love Nikitas style and true love of dancing and a great partner ❤️,
@@niciwatson There is no such thing as "too theatrical" in a Saturday night dancing competition. They have so far been given mostly lively uptempo dances, so there wasn't much opportunity for "dancing from the heart". HOWEVER, Layton really, REALLY danced from his heart with his Viennese Waltz back in Movie Week, to "There are Worse Things I Could Do... than go with a boy or two... even though the neighbourhood thinks I'm... etc, etc" --- but he was severely undermarked by the judges, as he hadn't worked out his ballroom hold properly yet. Still, there have been few dances this year with more genuine emotion, with the exception of Annabel's Couple's Choice dance.

It’s always nice to see the pro when they get a competent dance partner. It seems like they are able to up the creativity and shows their own dance abilities more.

YES! Oh my goodness, that was fire! They kept up the fast pace, the choreography was superb and while it wasn't a classic jive, it was still a jive and they nailed it. Out of this world gorgeous!
Bloody hell that was epic, the syncopation and timing was bang on, the attitude spins and the chaîné turns were precision perfect, energy off the charts. Slight turned in toes at times, but not throughout the whole routine, you can see they've been working on improving Layton's foot position.
I loved watching these two in my eyes they should have won...Nikita is a great dancer and teacher, I cant wait to watch him in the next series of Strictly.
It should be criminal not to award that performance full marks! The level of gymnastic brilliance he added to the routine. It's as if they underscore him as a punishment for overachieving.
Anyone started with their inner praise for Layton doing any Latin ,now just seeing Nikita realise these two are an absolutely perfectly matched pair, he is absolutely living for it ! One brit and one Ukrainian, two who are here for that semi final and final ! Anything less would be an injustice now. 9/10
I really don't mind if the celebrities have past training/dance experience as we get to see spectacular dances like this. The experienced celebs rarely win the competition anyway. Just getting as far as the final is the win anyone needs.
I think every celebrity who learns so much of dancing as novice is a winner in own right! That's why I rather not see well trained and advanced in dancing celebs winning.

Apart from the fact the song wasn't really a Jive song, this deserved a 10. Yet the 2 Judges who never danced Latin to any high level in their lives give 8 while the 2 Latin Queens gave 10. ❤
This raises an issue as to what Strictly Come Dancing is about: should the professionals be teaching their prospective partners from scratch or is the suspicion that this series has been a fix from the beginning, as Layton Williams has had previous extensive dance training?

Nikita is really utilising Layton’s dance skills to the maximum which is very smart to incorporate it! Jive kicks forward we’re very very good 👍🏻 Just needed to bring the side kicks in slightly and it would have been perfect

Firstly I read Nikita was injured this week so wasn’t able to train Layton as usual or to train with him. Secondly - Layton is great at selling routines through his dance and theatre training but that shouldn’t take away from the hard work he is putting into learning the techniques. If you think he looks like a professional ballroom dancer, that’s because he is working hard. Thirdly there are at least two or three other contestants with dance experience. One has won an Olivier award, I believe. So why single out Layton? Finally - we need this mix of abilities to make the show enjoyable from the start. I can tell you which dances I enjoy rewatching from the very first week and which I hope never to see again. It’s easy to claim that SCD is about non dancers - but that has literally never been the case. There has always been a range of abilities. Some have been better- Layton, yes, but also consider Ashley Roberts, Rachel Vincent, Tom Chambers, Natalie Gumede, Danny Mac… and when you look back at comments on those people, “they was robbed, guv!”. Non dancers often win because they’ve developed over the series but please don’t discount the importance of a range of skill levels.
Exactly, Layton’s rly the first celebrity I’ve heard getting this amount of backlash in a series for having dance as part of his background! I mean we obviously know those that excel from the beginning don’t tend to end up winning, but Strictly’d have much less of an audience if there weren’t good dances from the off -_
While this wasn’t a bad routine- I really feel Layton could have been pushed more. He has the ability to do 1:30 of straight jive, so include more jive, add more technique, do more lead follow partnering.
Score - *10/10* The girls were right, I can't believe Craig and Anton only gave them 8, this was amazing. Layton delivers as always, the cartwheel and piroutte 😍 + the Jive content was amazing, the chicken walks and retraction were of proffesional levels. They are sensational side by side, it was a powerhouse performance, it gave AJ Jive vibes and I don't think there was anything more that could have been here it was a unique, modern take on Jive and it set the dancefloor on fire for the night 🔥. This is the 2nd week they have put on the predicted top of the leaderboard dance, only for the both to be undermarked, are they trying to shake things up? Strange!?
@@the5thjudge Yes! I totally agree he has improved so much and so many don't admit it. I imagine previous dance experience is a blanket of certain prejudice people may have against Layton, similar to when people say "not my cup of tea", "too loud" or "he just seems like abit of a diva to me"

Okay so their wasn't quite enough core Jive content with Nikita opting to include Contemporary choreo to highlight Layton's tricks. Also Layton's feet were turned in multiple times in the dance.
yep, and layton did it better. also worth noting to the surprise of absolutely nobody, people have a problem when layton does it but its fine for karim to do it.
I think a bit of judge envy is showing, worth a 10. Unlike Angela R who was dragged around the dance floor. Sickle feet are a natural part of Leyton what nature gave him, for me didn't harm this excellent performance.
It’s a shame they went first, I think if this absolutely amazing dance had come after the others then it would have been obvious how utterly brilliant it was! These two are a really special couple like Giovanni & Rose, Oti & Danny Mac etc. Nikita is on fire this year having been paired with Layton. Well done both, please don’t be disheartened, it was no way an 8. 10 from me! 🎉
Leyton makes it look so easy but seriously with these comments. The dance was amazing and he is knocking it out of the park every week. If you preferred another celebrity then you should really concentrate your energy on giving them love... oh well! 😏
I wish the judges could replay the video and highlight where any mistakes were because I keep watching this and can't see a single issue with the footwork. I mean, I've never danced in my life so obviously they are looking at things in a different way to me, but it looks incredibly good to me.
Technically it’s not fully right with what the style of dance requires - it’s stupid I know cause who actually cares from an audience pov , his feet just turn in and they need to be out

Usually we can see is someone is out is fine or stumbles but this looks perfect as a casual viewer. I’d love to be shown exactly what parts they have issues with.

Firstly I read Nikita was injured this week so wasn’t able to train Layton as usual or to train with him.
Secondly - Layton is great at selling routines through his dance and theatre training but that shouldn’t take away from the hard work he is putting into learning the techniques. If you think he looks like a professional ballroom dancer, that’s because he is working hard.
Thirdly there are at least two or three other contestants with dance experience. One has won an Olivier award, I believe. So why single out Layton?
Finally - we need this mix of abilities to make the show enjoyable from the start. I can tell you which dances I enjoy rewatching from the very first week and which I hope never to see again. It’s easy to claim that SCD is about non dancers - but that has literally never been the case. There has always been a range of abilities. Some have been better- Layton, yes, but also consider Ashley Roberts, Rachel Vincent, Tom Chambers, Natalie Gumede, Danny Mac… and when you look back at comments on those people, “they was robbed, guv!”. Non dancers often win because they’ve developed over the series but please don’t discount the importance of a range of skill levels.
Exactly, Layton’s rly the first celebrity I’ve heard getting this amount of backlash in a series for having dance as part of his background! I mean we obviously know those that excel from the beginning don’t tend to end up winning, but Strictly’d have much less of an audience if there weren’t good dances from the off -_

While this wasn’t a bad routine- I really feel Layton could have been pushed more. He has the ability to do 1:30 of straight jive, so include more jive, add more technique, do more lead follow partnering.
Agreed I don't know why all the highlights in this dance were all Contemporary moves rather than Jive.

The girls were right, I can't believe Craig and Anton only gave them 8, this was amazing. Layton delivers as always, the cartwheel and piroutte 😍 + the Jive content was amazing, the chicken walks and retraction were of proffesional levels. They are sensational side by side, it was a powerhouse performance, it gave AJ Jive vibes and I don't think there was anything more that could have been here it was a unique, modern take on Jive and it set the dancefloor on fire for the night 🔥. This is the 2nd week they have put on the predicted top of the leaderboard dance, only for the both to be undermarked, are they trying to shake things up? Strange!?
Because he hasn’t improved. He came in too good. Might as well, just called him a professional.

@@the5thjudge Yes! I totally agree he has improved so much and so many don't admit it. I imagine previous dance experience is a blanket of certain prejudice people may have against Layton, similar to when people say "not my cup of tea", "too loud" or "he just seems like abit of a diva to me"

Okay so their wasn't quite enough core Jive content with Nikita opting to include Contemporary choreo to highlight Layton's tricks. Also Layton's feet were turned in multiple times in the dance.

yep, and layton did it better. also worth noting to the surprise of absolutely nobody, people have a problem when layton does it but its fine for karim to do it.

I think a bit of judge envy is showing, worth a 10. Unlike Angela R who was dragged around the dance floor. Sickle feet are a natural part of Leyton what nature gave him, for me didn't harm this excellent performance.
It’s a shame they went first, I think if this absolutely amazing dance had come after the others then it would have been obvious how utterly brilliant it was! These two are a really special couple like Giovanni & Rose, Oti & Danny Mac etc. Nikita is on fire this year having been paired with Layton. Well done both, please don’t be disheartened, it was no way an 8. 10 from me! 🎉

Leyton makes it look so easy but seriously with these comments. The dance was amazing and he is knocking it out of the park every week. If you preferred another celebrity then you should really concentrate your energy on giving them love... oh well! 😏

I wish the judges could replay the video and highlight where any mistakes were because I keep watching this and can't see a single issue with the footwork. I mean, I've never danced in my life so obviously they are looking at things in a different way to me, but it looks incredibly good to me.
Technically it’s not fully right with what the style of dance requires - it’s stupid I know cause who actually cares from an audience pov , his feet just turn in and they need to be out
@@tomhayes413 I’m sure, but that’s what I’m saying - I wish they could do a replay like in sports, where they can slow it down and highlight the issues. Usually we can see is someone is out is fine or stumbles but this looks perfect as a casual viewer. I’d love to be shown exactly what parts they have issues with.

Seriously, why not ask if the Strictly team would be willing include such a feature in future shows. I'd love to see it myself as it's taken several re-watches (not a hard chore😂) to spot those foot faults.
