I'd like to argue that after the first viewing. The scene where coop left murph was exponentially more poewerful than the first viewing. I could never make it through thst scene without crying really hard
I find it a master peace becuase it gave me awww moments, thoughts, and emotions I didn’t know I could experience and excitement I had never felt. That’s what makes it great to me
The most scientifically accurate movie, ironically, was also the most emotionally satisfying movie experience for me. A true masterpiece! With the most unique and perfectly matched cinematic score composed for a movie/story.

@@zakiahmed2017 If a robot is barely distinguishable from a person, is it a person? I think Nolan did a great job painting TARS as a bot that is very human and still believable. TARS is the opposite from HAL9000 in so many ways.
The best movie of all time for me. The best soundtrack. If i got to live for decades from now, this movie it's going to be my favorite vivid memorie of how in love i fell with the world, our home. When Hans Zimmer no longer plays, when Christopher Nolan no long lives among us, they'll be the ones that created something that i can call Masterpiece. So, we see that Cooper ended up inside the tesseract, a 5 dimensional space designed by "they". What we need to understand is that the 5th dimension allows us to see the parallel universes or the alternate realities. So, to us what seemed like Cooper looking at his own past from inside the tesseract was actually him looking at an alternate reality of himself and Murph. That is the big secret of Interstellar. And if you look it from that perspective everything seems fall into place and all the questions seems to have been answered. ******** Who were "They"? *********** The human species gets suffocated due to blight and become extinct. The only survivors were some scientists and engineers, probably at NASA who survived cause they stayed underground. They carried on with their research underground and lived that way and carried human species forward for years to come, and may be after a few decades or after 100 years or so, they were able to access the higher dimensions, by using a tesseract and placing it near the singularity of some super massive blackhole, cause at singularity the time stops and hence, they could have access to infinite space and time, and that allowed them to access the higher dimensions, the 4th and the 5th dimensions. So, these survivors were "They", the so called beings of the 5th dimension. "They" found a new home for human beings of the past, the Edmund's planet in a distant galaxy, and placed a worm hole near Saturn to help them reach there. Now, they needed a person from the past, smart enough to whom they could give the quantum data using gravity, who could solve the equation of gravity. They must have shortlisted a few such people (Murph being one of them), but there was a PROBLEM..
******* THE PROBLEM ********* Sending the quantum data using gravitational anomaly to chosen these people would have worked only if 1. that person was a physicist working on the equation of gravity. ****************** CONDITION 1 2. the data would come from someone with whom this person shared a strong bond of Love. ******************* CONDITION 2 Only once these 2 conditions are met, that data would make any sense to that chosen person. So, 1. they needed to get this person to NASA so that he/she would be aligned with task of resolving the equation of gravity.************ to tackle CONDITION 1 2. they needed to get someone, with whom this person shared a strong bond of love, inside the tesseract near a singularity, so that this person would use gravity to send the quantum data from inside the tesseract, to the chosen one on earth hoping that the bond of love they share, will do the trick. ************ to tackle CONDITION 2 So, out of those chosen ones, they chose Murph cause she shared that strong bond of love with her father who also happened to be an Astronaut with NASA, and he could be somehow lead to the tesseract in the outer space, and they felt that they could use this father-daughter duo of Joseph and Murphy Cooper to make this mission a success. We were shown that after the crash Cooper left NASA and became a farmer and later he got the news that NASA has been shut down. Later when NASA was Re-instated as a Secret organization, cooper was not aware of NASA being still operational. He receives NASA coordinates through a gravitational anomaly and He and Murph reach NASA n there he finds out that NASA is actually still operational. Cooper goes on the Lazarus Mission through the wormhole and jumps into the event horizon of Gargantua.
******* THE PARALLEL UNIVERSE ******* Remember Murphy's law, everything that can happen will happen. So, when we were shown that after the crash Cooper left NASA and became a farmer, in some parallel universe he continued to be an Astronaut with NASA even after NASA became a secret organization. And cause they had access to infinite space and time and the 5th dimension, "they" could observe that parallel universe too. So, it turns out that “they" could observe both the versions of Cooper in 2 parallel universes. 1. Cooper(the farmer) 2. Cooper(the Astronaut) In that other universe too, they placed a wormhole near Saturn and Cooper(the Astronaut) captained endurance through that wormhole, and as per Murphy's law, in that universe too if he would have a choice of jumping inside Gargantua's event horizon, he would. ******* THE BIG HIDDEN SECRET ABOUT LAZARUS MISSION ********* Christopher Nolan gave mission the name "Lazarus Mission", which implies someone had to die and then come back from the dead. The big secret here is that the Cooper (the Farmer) that we see jumping inside the tesseract in the movie dies as soon as he jumps inside the event horizon. And the Cooper that we see later inside the tesseract is the Cooper(the Astronaut) from the parallel universe, and he is the one who is dragged into the parallel universe of Cooper (farmer) inside the tesseract by "They" and he is the one who later reaches the Cooper Station. So, Cooper (the farmer) dies and comes back from the dead, from a parallel universe as Cooper (the Astronaut). that is why Christopher Nolan chose the name "Lazarus Mission" for this mission.
******* THE SWITCH ********* The switch from Cooper (the farmer) to Cooper (the Astronaut) was made when Cooper (the farmer) jumps into the Event Horizon of Gargantua. There was an untimely and relatively unnecessary Cut sequence there, where the scene switches back to earth, for apparently no reason. Here's how it went. In that scene we see: 1. Cooper(the farmer)'s space craft catching fire soon after he detaches from endurance. (Location: inside Gargantua) 2. Cooper(the farmer) in pain (Location: inside Gargantua) ------ CUT SEQUENCE ------- 3. Cooper(the farmer)'s corn field on fire (Location: Earth) 4. Cooper(the farmer)'s son watching helplessly in despair. (Location: Earth) 5. Murph filled with hopelessness, looking at the broken replica of the moon lander that her father gave to her. (Location: Earth) So, here everything that belongs to or is related to Cooper(the farmer) is shown as kinda broken/on fire, indicating that Cooper (the farmer)'s world is coming to an end and this is where we say good bye to Cooper(the farmer). ******* INSIDE THE TESSERACT ********* Right after that cut sequence the movie makes a switch from Cooper(the farmer) to Cooper(the Astronaut) who jumped inside Gargantua may be decades ago. So, when Cooper(the Astronaut) who jumped inside Gargantua in that parallel universe, at that time, Cooper(the farmer) was probably living on that farm with Murph. The Cooper that we see inside the Tesseract is the Cooper(the Astronaut) from the parallel universe who has been dragged into the universe of Cooper(the farmer) inside the tesseract by "they". Here, upon seeing Murph from inside the tesseract he realizes that he is looking at a Murph from a parallel universe and initially he feels that he has failed in his mission, so he feels that in that universe of Cooper(the farmer), he should make them STAY together, hence he sends the STAY message. Then after TARS (not the TARS we saw earlier, this is TARS from the parallel universe of Cooper(the Astronaut)) tells him about the tesseract, Cooper(the Astronaut) eventually realizes that "they didn't choose him, they chose Murph to save the world". Now everything becomes clear to him, and he, 1. gives out the NASA's coordinates to Murph and Cooper(the Farmer), so that Cooper would take Murph to NASA ********* TO FULFIL THE CONDITION 1 ********** 2. gives the quantum data through the watch. ********* TO FULFIL THE CONDITION 2 ********** Once, both the conditions are met, "they" know that his job there was done and hence, they close the tesseract and send Cooper(the Astronaut) back through the wormhole after which he is rescued and taken back to the Cooper station.
Now as "they" have access to infinite space and time, "they" make Cooper(the Astronaut) travel through the wormhole at the time when endurance, with Cooper(the farmer) inside was going through the wormhole in the opposite direction. There Cooper(the Astronaut) distorts spacetime to create an impression of a handshake with Brand.
**** WHY COOPER(THE FARMER) **** So, when Cooper(the Astronaut) jumped into Gargantua, "they" dragged him into Cooper(the farmer)'s parallel universe, Why did they do it that way? Why did they not let him be in his own universe, of Cooper(the Astronaut)? The answer is cause that would never have worked out. If from inside the tesseract, Cooper(The Astronaut) would give out the NASA's coordinates back himself (Cooper(The Astronaut)) of the past. Then Cooper(The Astronaut) of the past would have known where those coordinates lead to, cause he worked with NASA (the secret organization), and that being a top government secret, he would have never shared that information with Murph and hence, CONDITION 1 would not have met. So, they had to create a parallel universe for Cooper in which he would think that NASA has been shut down and would not be aware of the fact that NASA was later re-instated. To make that happen, they create a Gravitational anomaly to crash Cooper's spacecraft (the one he had a nightmare about in the beginning of the movie) to somehow force him to quit NASA and hence, created a parallel universe of Cooper(the farmer). When Cooper(the farmer) received the NASA's coordinates, he had no idea what those coordinates lead to and accidentally ended up taking Murph to NASA, hence fulfilling the CONDITION 1.
That for me is the Plot of Interstellar. There was no time loop or bootstrap paradox. In the 5th dimension there never is.
Beacuse the boy gave up on his father It's not his love for his daughter that transcends spacetime but it's her love for her father that did A 7 years old child abandoned by her father

I still can’t get over the fact that for more or less, this movie (edit: visually rendered) a black hole and closely predicted exactly what a black hole ended up looking like when NASA first caught one. Imagine what else we might have that is right now, too?

The theoretical physicist Kip Thorne who helped write and advise on the film provided calculations to the visual effects team which resulted in them creating a never-before seen model of a black hole. Then, last year, a NASA space telescope located and took pictures of a supermassive black hole 55 million light years away. And it looked REMARKABLY like the one in Interstellar. Dr. Thorne and the visual effects team from Interstellar did such a good job that their work was posted in several scientific journals and ended up accurately predicting the look/behavior of the real thing.
@@KevAlberta yeah its so cool in my opinion! The visual team were given physics law calculation for blackhole, and the result in their physics simulated visual is something new in science!
@@KevAlberta the model was made from complex mathematical equations. They used a super computer to input what a black hole would look like using those equations. It turns out that they look almost identical to the real black hole and once again einstein was right decades after his death.
I always assumed the ending had gone something like this: Black Hole & Time Dilation- Cooper falls into the black hole and the movie itself helps provide the fact that the stronger the gravity=the greater the time dilation. So with this one fact you can prove that as Coop gets closer to the event horizon the people farther away are experiencing time a lot faster. Theoretically, if Brand had looked at Coopers ranger approaching the event horizon it would seem as if he wasn’t moving at all; slowly just fading until after a really long time just disappearing into nothingness. So once he passes through the event horizon he’s only experienced something like a minute or two while Brand is probably already halfway to Edmunds planet with CASE. At one point inside this black hole gravity has become so strong Brand has already been on Edmunds planet raising generations of the future “bulk beings”. Even a few minutes of Coopers time after that would eventually be nonexistent for Cooper himself; having centuries or millennia pass. Self-fulfilling Future humans- Brand would obviously tell the story of the brave man who helped save her and the mission and tell stories of the old world they came from. How gravitational anomalies inside his daughters room mysteriously gave coordinates to NASA to pilot the Endurance. At some point long after Brand has been dead for what could be centuries or a millennia, they most likely realized that Cooper is theoretically still falling into Gargantua, very much alive and could save the man that saved them. THEY put the wormhole near Saturn and THEY construct the Tesseract for Cooper to fall in to and create what I think is called a bootstrap paradox. By them creating the wormhole in the future it allows it to exist for all the time before it. By them placing Coop into the Tesseract it allows him to send himself on the mission and complete it therefore saving the future humans and repeating the process indefinitely. Once completed, they are able to pull him out back to when Brand was JUST slinging out of Gargantua and approaching Edmunds planet. This HAS to happen at only this time because it was the only time Coop could leave the wormhole to be saved by Cooper Station (minutes of oxygen left in his supply). Now with him reunited with his daughter she inspires him to go to Brand; inevitably joining her and raising the future “THEY” humans to dedicate the research time needed to make the bootstrap timeline possible however many centuries/millennia in the future when the answers needed are finally found.
mikethespike056 Time isn’t linear to them though. That’s why all the shenanigans is possible. We can’t make sense of how it’s possible because our brains can only perceive time as past, present & future. To them it’s always no matter what. I’m not Christopher Nolan though so that’s just my theory on it. My theory only matters to me because it’s how my mind strung everything together watching this movie easily over 100 times. Anyone and everyone has their own way of piecing the end together and I guess that’s the beauty of some of his films. The fact that a bunch of fans come together and just brainstorm a bunch of shit to try and make sense of it lol. What’s your thoughts on it though? How do you think everything came to be? This is in my top 3 of favorite movies so I love hearing other people’s theories about it to open my mind up to other opinions!
BR2049 was my favourite film of 2017 and my favourite from Villeneuve but it still isn’t better than the prequel imo, which is my all time favourite film..
"...Interstellar is rare in its genre because it leaves us with a deeply positive message; It encourages us to be curious about the greater universe" - This. I love this idea because movies such as Interstellar are highly capable of doing what series such as Star Trek did for prior generations: It has the potential to inspire a new generation to become scientists, engineers, astronauts and explorers. Media that has the ability to show what we understand to be possible while also giving you the breadcrumbs to try and make it possible are extremely impactful and inspiring for the benefit of humanity going forward. Just think of the scientists at NASA that were inspired by Jules Verne, or Gene Roddenberry or George Lucas. Having breathtaking experiences in the imagination create building blocks for reality.
When Coop first left his family to join the Interstellar mission, he checked under the blanket beside him in the truck while he was driving to NASA, and Murph wasn't there so he started crying even harder. That shit was heartbreaking.
I've been telling people since the movie came out, those who don't have an appreciation for it now will look back at it like the next 2001 A space Odyssey
Read the book. The book, and it's sequels especially are pretty good and they have a much faster pace. Not nearly as much navel gazing going on. I like 2001 but I still usually skip the first hour.
My favourite film of all time. So sad that many didn't get it and couldn't appreciate it for a masterpiece that it is. This film changed me... It taught me about time and space being relative. Possibility of being able to view time as a space dimension, i.e. being able to "see" all the moments of time at once. Warping of space. Gravity.. Other dimensions... Making decisions for the greater good vs for the selfish reasons...etc etc Man, Interstellar explored so many interesting themes. And the visuals on it were absolutely amazing - so glad that I saw it on the big screen first. Also, Hans Zimmer's score is breathtaking - one of the best of all time. The film is magic, except that it's not. It's science. It's real. It's true. And so many people don't get it, so they don't like it. Or just focus on the "love" message and write the film of as too chic flick. I pitty them. This film can change your whole worldview if you go see it with an open mind and without being afraid to not understand some parts of it. And you must watch it on the biggest screen you can find!!
This is my favorite movie ever. I really mean that. Everyone around is always like, "you're watching that again!?" Lol I love this film & feel the same way as you.
Many said the same about 2001 Space Odyssey. Many walked away puzzled, Many though it pure rubbish, but for some, it created thought and questions about man's evolution and how other beings may have influenced our evolution (gods?). Stanly Kubrick was very much about the visuals and how what you saw was more influential and created deep thought versus spoken words which tended to make the viewers just follow along instead of think about what they were seeing. Certainly Interstellar is a movie that makes most viewers reflect and think about what they saw long after the credits have finished and the last kernal of popcorn is swept from the theater floor.

Probably because I watched it on my laptop and not on the big screen, or because there was very little going on, the same visuals lasting for ever. :/

to me the cooper vs mann scene was the dumbest :D frustrated me so much how cooper didn't respond like he actually would have in the real life scenario. they had to dumb him down for that scene to keep the plot moving

Interstellar is like Harry Potter if you change magic for science. Everybody thinks it's about the incredibly convoluted science part/magic. But it's really about love. Even though I never fully understood the science behind it, the movies never confused me. It made perfect sense in every given moment
That's where you fail. The film is largely about the science. And, the fact that it's not magic and something that is real/can happen, is one of the most important aspects of the film. The film explored so many ideas and "love" isn't the only one. You missed out.. A lot...
+Xelli X No that's not what I meant. I know that the science part of Interstellar is not some magic.Yes, the science is very accurate and doesn't violate any laws of physic for plot convenience. It could theoretically happen. "Magic" referred to Harry Potter. I put it in a wrong way. I mean. a lot of people think Interstellar is about science and Harry Potter is about magic. Sure science and magic are very important part of the narration in both the stories respectively, but that's not what the story is about. Even though both stories explore many ideas and themes, the core of the story boils down to love. Essentially in both the stories "love" is a force much stronger than magic or science. In the end Harry doesn't defeat Voldemort because he is the better magician and Cooper doesn't save earth through some path-breaking scientific discovery. They both succeed because of their capability to feel love. If it wasn't for "love" both the stories couldn't exist. Both stories a tribute to the idea of "love" being more powerful than any other force on earth. That's what I meant.
+TN NG Yeah in that aspect HP is totally different from Interstellar. Magic basically has no mechanics at all. It's just magic and you deal with it. It's not even really confusing. It just provides zero explanation. Interstellar is very different from that.
there are a lot of people that criticize this movie for being “cheesy” by implementing love with science- but i think it’s beautiful and perfect. this video said it best. going forward, humans need facts and logic, but all needs to be held together by love. also, people seem to be annoyed by the last ten minutes of the movie, saying that it feels too perfectly wrapped up with all the answers. i think it needed to end this way. there are certain movies where ambiguous endings are great, but this is not one of them. such an emotionally resonant movie with such hardship calls for an ending that shows the payoff. a nearly three-hour movie needed to have a powerful, clean ending like it did. i think it’s perfect.
interstellar is a ghost story, and cooper sent the messages from beyond, before he died. thats why the last 20 mins are so strange, idealistic, and dream-like, its because it is coopers' "death dream" where he survived a black hole, "appeared" on the solar system lightyears away, reunited with his daughter, saved the world, "stole" a fucking interstellar jet out of nowhere and hyperjumped into infinity. what is the last thing you see before you die? your children. murph. that last scene is his mind pushing forward, just like Mann said. thats the end of life, the end of coopers personal movie. theres a lot of death and 'letting go' imagery in that weird ending, murphs 'frees' him to go/die in peace and live his next adventure, theres even the house in a museum setting, which he said didnt feel real or right, because it was maybe a fabrication of what he thinks he misses, and then he realizes that you cant live on memory. you have to move on.
if it is a death dream, that would mean Cooper-station is also part of that dream.. or more simplified: it doesnt excist. if it does excist, and it is infact a death dream, how would one explain the missing jet otherwise. thats the one thing i can't mentally connect. Unless Murph can see ghosts. which i doubt since we've already had the sixth sense.
i always thought that the "bulk" beings are the embrions that born in that new planet, a mission where the plan B was the one that success while everyone in earth end up dying, them generations past and they learn how to manipulate time-space and gravity and try to save more people from earth in the past by making the tesserac
They have an attachment to their ancestors & their ancestral home allowing them to manipulate the correct time in our home solar system while still needing Cooper to make actual communication.
This film reminds me so much of Arrival. Both films are metaphors that love is the answer to everything and it is the most powerful force humans can have. As well as living in the moment. Very powerful stuff.
That was what I thought at first as well but after rewatching it again and seeing some videos on youtube, all of these things happened because 'They' chose Murph not Cooper. Cooper said it himself in the movie. 'They' had a lot of options for people and memories to choose as a way to send the message. For 'Them' the options are endless as time in the fifth dimension is just another space that they can move freely. Murph really loved her dad and the memory of her father leaving left such a huge impact for her. She kept believing her father and eventually came back to her old room and look at the watch. That room and that Murph's memory of his dad were the ones chosen by 'Them' to put the tesseract at. Although it was TARS that got the equation and translated it to morse, Cooper was just the bridge sending the codes. All of it wouldn't have happened if not for Murph's love for her dad. Also people on earth probably wouldn't believe if she told her how she solved the equation, so she just said that her dad played a big part on it.
no actually ‘they’ chose him because love is the only bond that can go through the dimensions and time. if murph wouldn’t exist he wouldn’t be in the 5th dimension
@@rodizeynepemci9915 You've no idea what you're talking about. 'They' IMO is analogous to us looking back on people in the past (video footage is a more tangible example), knowing good and well that right now people could be looking back on us hundreds of years into the future.
Interstellar is one of those films which I feel isn't really taken too seriously. I can see how people may see a lot of what happens in the end to be some new age mumbo jumbo, however I feel it really does a great job in communicating that there is something much larger going on in our universe that humans may not be able to understand, yet. The idea of the multi-verse is making it's way into mainstream media now and whether you believe it or not, it is something really interesting for us to think about and maybe help us understand our lives a little more.
Nolan merging cience with religion showing us that humanity will evolve so much that we will become like gods changing the matter of space and the fabric of time.
To me it's not mumbojumbo. Love is a physical pattern in a brain. So there is a real connection the "aliens" needed in our dimension. The movie does not hint anywhere to a multiverse, just higher dimensions. The multiverse theory imo is not science, more philosophy, the is no proof, and currently cannot be proven
Mutation this is coming from no where but if we survive inside a black hole long enough before we reach the singularity if there was a wormhole inside curving part of the rip back around into space could it be possible to leave the black hole
I sat with my two boys, a veteran of the 1990 Gulf War, and I cried with joy. I then showed them Asimov's 2001: a Space Odyssey from the 60's. And I explained it all to them - the facetime/skype, the AI, the satellites, the space stations, the shuttles. They then turned to me, 8 and 10, and said "So this is our future?"and I said, most likely. We shared a beautiful and terrifying moment. And in that, lies the absolute genius of this movie.
2001 is not by Asimov; it' s a movie made by Stanley Kubrick based on the stories "The Sentinel" and "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke (the guy that said that "any technology far advanced enough is indistinguishable from magic")..
I always felt the importance of Murph and Cooper’s relationship. Their love for each other (despite his other son being there too) was so impacting on their journeys towards saving humanity. I never questioned the science of the film, that’s not the message of the film. The message, as I always saw it, was the importance of love, hence Hathaway’s heartbreaking monologue. I’ve read many threads on how accurate the film is and it seems to be very important to the space/science community, there are other members of the audience like myself who just enjoyed it for what it is. There are many apocalyptic films that show the humanity’s fall not through some huge natural disaster (but natural disasters are the end of the world for many lesser developed countries’ citizens) or aliens coming to destroy us. It was because humans ran out of food and that is so much more believable and close to who ever is watching this film. This is a great video! I love everything you guys put out!
Cooper was saved for the higher intelligence understood he was able to OVERCOME HIS EGO by being willing to sacrifice himself. The movie The Abyss had the same concept I believe. The one that was willing to self-sacrifice was the one saved by a higher intelligence.
All though there is no past or future time, they are there.........Everything and everyone that ever was and ever will be here is "here" in a quantum state..........everything possible is "they".....
As is the case with all Interstellar videos, Coopers son is left out of the mix. I get it Cooper was closer to Murph and missed out on her life and childhood but she aint an only child
Because you'd never felt what a heart break is when you put trust on a son to be left for almost 3 decades, worse in space, and suddenly he threw you under the bus. Murph just can't accept the fact that Cooper has to go not knowing when to come back. She is with the Professor until she finds out that the Professor has made a solution yet desperate and lost hope which drives Murph to reveal it to Cooper. In fact Murph is the only one who is still sending message while his son already gives up on him after losing Jese and his grandfather.

The people who were confused were those that had little or no understanding of multi-dimensional physics and 4th dimensional time theory. As 3 dimensional beings that don't live in higher dimensions it is a little confusing when we try to imagine higher dimensions because our mind is also 3D and can only really comprehend 3D. Even a Tesseract as we illustrate it is still a 3D item as we have no TRUE way of showing what 4D looks like so it is difficult to show in a 3D or in the case of a film 2D format.

I'm not sure with this answer since I'm not a science genius but maybe it's because a lot of people just couldn't buy their explanation on how they tried to solve the paradox. I mean if "They" were the highly advanced people from the future (meaning our descendants), then how were they able to build the tesseract... if Matthew didn't fall into the tesseract (if you get what I mean). How did the future of humanity save the astronaut if the astronaut wasn't able save them? Who did the saving first... did Humanity save Matthew first or was Matthew the one who first saved them?
@@ralphjosephrjm326 there are two different ways of interpreting nonlinear time in fiction. You've got the idea that there are different timelines, i.e. Ocarina of Time. When Link goes 7 years in the future, Hyrule is destroyed because Link wasn't there to stop Ganondorf, and even after Link has defeated him in the future, when he travels back in time to stop him in the past, that dark timeline where Ganondorf was in power for 7 years never goes away. Alternatively, you have the idea that time is a singular timeline, which is the approach Interstellar takes. This interpretation is like Marty McFly going back in time and making sure his parents get together so he will exist in the future. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. The bulk beings helping Cooper save humanity are compelled by fate to do it, because it is impossible for them not to. They can't exist if they don't help Cooper.
interstellar is *the* best movie out of all of the movies out there and i’m proud to say that i just watched it for the 25th time since the year i found it: 2017. and with each time i’ve watched it, i was able to understand more and more of the whole movie. i’m currently 13 and the first time i watched it i was 10. this video really helped to wrap up my theory of the ending. so thank you.
Crying during something like Interstellar doesn't make you "like a bitch". It shows that you were so invested, interested in such an experience that it moved you.
They never talked about how cooper could use gravity through the 4th dimension to communicate with murphey. Some theorists think that gravity is so weak because the rest of gravity slips into the 4th dimension. So THEY use that anomaly for Cooper to communicate with his daughter.
The first time I saw Cooper fall through the black hole, I was shaken, because such a thing would be a death sentence for anyone. But because of love, the Tesseract existed to help Cooper send a message to his daughter through gravitational waves and spacetime. In a sense, you could say that love is stronger than a black hole. Now that’s powerful.

I'd say it's more bittersweet than sad because he DID get to see his daughter one last time. And I'm guessing he'll have plenty of time to meet all his grandkids and great-grandkids once he's gone back to give Brand the good news.
Im thinking parallel universes. In one of the many possible cases where things work out perfectly, the 'They' build the tesseract to help the other parallel cases to find a future for humanity.
I watched it on release in theatre when it first came out, so I didn't remember many of the details, just the general premise as it's been 5 years. I saw a post on Facebook about the score ticks on Miller's planet each being a day, so I decided to rewatch it this evening and I remember why I loved it so much. It's so strongly profound in it's own unique way, it really left me with the feeling that it's an absolute masterpiece, much like Inception did. As a person who is fascinated and an avid follower of physics, astronomy, and an Env. Science grad, I think it was brilliant. The visuals are second to none, the physics is astounding, and the conceptualization of what lies beyond the event horizon is facinating to say the least. Not to mention the goosebumps you get when Coop sees Murph for the 1st time again... Also, it takes one hell of a movie to make me think of Michael Caine's character as an asshole. If that isn't groundbreaking, I don't know what is. 😂 It most certainly isn't a film for everyone, but I'm thankful Nolan and his team produced this wonderful bit of cinema. I hope this inspires people to keep pushing boundaries and to look up and be a little more curious about what lies out there.
I think that Interstellar cannot be considered as a "perfect" film without its musics. Hans Zimmer did a great job! He composed awestriking musics that makes Insterstellar as a "perfect" movie.
Two more questions...... What was that "Quantum Data" the movie is referring to? another question is, When the Tesserect was collapsing and Cooper was hurled into space, he ended up in a specific time where his daughter already built that makeshift world whatever you call that, Why was he hurled into that specific time. Was that random or intentional?
Interstellar is one of the greatest movies of all time. I've watched it dozens of times, but it never fails to amaze me over and over. Truly a masterpiece.
This is most concise, complete, and understandable explanation video about Interstellar by far. It’s such a beautiful movie and even its most far-flung scenes and “rules” are grounded by actual fact. This video perfectly explains how science and love combine to save us all. I wish I could forget this movie just so I could watch it for the first time again.
I don’t think the future humans putting the tesseract within reach is a plot hole. I think humanity always survived through Brand getting to the planet and then their ancestors put Cooper in the tesseract to save the humans who in their timeline died suffering on earth. Underscoring the film’s point that we should care about future - or in their case past - generations because they’re our fellow humans and we have the capacity for compassion.
I have one question.. Although what u say might be correct but let's say these fertilized eggs with Bbrand grew up, to be the future people.. But then how did they know anything about Cooper. Even if they know anything about Cooper and if they can run forward and back in time.. How can they possibly make a tesseract with full of Cooper's past to which they know nothing about?

When i first watched this film, i immediately fell in love with it. Automatically the best movie in my life, so far, until now. And im really hurt when i hear people got sleepy in this movie.
I watched this movie as a kid not knowing much about any of the concepts and what they meant, but now being old and mature enough to realize what everything meant, it really surprises be Nolan could actually come up with a story with so much depth in it, really amazing!
In fact, it might and should one day be seen as groundbreaking as 2001. A Space Odyssey did. But it has an advantage over the latter film by also having a heart, while 2001 -despite its dazzling, sublime cinematography - was just filled with a kind of cold logic that creeped my out when I saw it for the first time.

Its not weird. Its possible. Space and time were always bound to each other and by creating this 5 dimensional world, the movies shows us we do not understand the possibilities in the universe. Hands down ,, the best sy fi movie I have ever seen... 2010,, is great,, but I have never seen a movie that has stirred up emotions in me like interstellar,,,it’s just heart breaking and fantastic all at the same time...

The most scientifically accurate movie, ironically, was also the most emotionally satisfying movie experience for me. A true masterpiece! With the most unique and perfectly matched cinematic score composed for a movie/story.
Every year science discovers they were completely wrong about something they believed was infallible. So accuracy isnt really their best trait.

So, we see that Cooper ended up inside the tesseract, a 5 dimensional space designed by "they". What we need to understand is that the 5th dimension allows us to see the parallel universes or the alternate realities. So, to us what seemed like Cooper looking at his own past from inside the tesseract was actually him looking at an alternate reality of himself and Murph. That is the big secret of Interstellar. And if you look it from that perspective everything seems fall into place and all the questions seems to have been answered.
******** Who were "They"? ***********
The human species gets suffocated due to blight and become extinct. The only survivors were some scientists and engineers, probably at NASA who survived cause they stayed underground.
They carried on with their research underground and lived that way and carried human species forward for years to come, and may be after a few decades or after 100 years or so, they were able to access the higher dimensions, by using a tesseract and placing it near the singularity of some super massive blackhole, cause at singularity the time stops and hence, they could have access to infinite space and time, and that allowed them to access the higher dimensions, the 4th and the 5th dimensions. So, these survivors were "They", the so called beings of the 5th dimension.
"They" found a new home for human beings of the past, the Edmund's planet in a distant galaxy, and placed a worm hole near Saturn to help them reach there.
Now, they needed a person from the past, smart enough to whom they could give the quantum data using gravity, who could solve the equation of gravity.
They must have shortlisted a few such people (Murph being one of them), but there was a PROBLEM..
******* THE PROBLEM *********
Sending the quantum data using gravitational anomaly to chosen these people would have worked only if
1. that person was a physicist working on the equation of gravity. ****************** CONDITION 1
2. the data would come from someone with whom this person shared a strong bond of Love. ******************* CONDITION 2
Only once these 2 conditions are met, that data would make any sense to that chosen person.
So,
1. they needed to get this person to NASA so that he/she would be aligned with task of resolving the equation of gravity.************ to tackle CONDITION 1
2. they needed to get someone, with whom this person shared a strong bond of love, inside the tesseract near a singularity, so that this person would use gravity to send the quantum data from inside the tesseract, to the chosen one on earth hoping that the bond of love they share, will do the trick. ************ to tackle CONDITION 2
So, out of those chosen ones, they chose Murph cause she shared that strong bond of love with her father who also happened to be an Astronaut with NASA, and he could be somehow lead to the tesseract in the outer space, and they felt that they could use this father-daughter duo of Joseph and Murphy Cooper to make this mission a success.
We were shown that after the crash Cooper left NASA and became a farmer and later he got the news that NASA has been shut down.
Later when NASA was Re-instated as a Secret organization, cooper was not aware of NASA being still operational.
He receives NASA coordinates through a gravitational anomaly and He and Murph reach NASA n there he finds out that NASA is actually still operational.
Cooper goes on the Lazarus Mission through the wormhole and jumps into the event horizon of Gargantua.
******* THE PARALLEL UNIVERSE *******
Remember Murphy's law, everything that can happen will happen. So, when we were shown that after the crash Cooper left NASA and became a farmer, in some parallel universe he continued to be an Astronaut with NASA even after NASA became a secret organization. And cause they had access to infinite space and time and the 5th dimension, "they" could observe that parallel universe too.
So, it turns out that “they" could observe both the versions of Cooper in 2 parallel universes.
1. Cooper(the farmer)
2. Cooper(the Astronaut)
In that other universe too, they placed a wormhole near Saturn and Cooper(the Astronaut) captained endurance through that wormhole, and as per Murphy's law, in that universe too if he would have a choice of jumping inside Gargantua's event horizon, he would.
******* THE BIG HIDDEN SECRET ABOUT LAZARUS MISSION *********
Christopher Nolan gave mission the name "Lazarus Mission", which implies someone had to die and then come back from the dead.
The big secret here is that the Cooper (the Farmer) that we see jumping inside the tesseract in the movie dies as soon as he jumps inside the event horizon.
And the Cooper that we see later inside the tesseract is the Cooper(the Astronaut) from the parallel universe, and he is the one who is dragged into the parallel universe of Cooper (farmer) inside the tesseract by "They" and he is the one who later reaches the Cooper Station.
So, Cooper (the farmer) dies and comes back from the dead, from a parallel universe as Cooper (the Astronaut). that is why Christopher Nolan chose the name "Lazarus Mission" for this mission.
******* THE SWITCH *********
The switch from Cooper (the farmer) to Cooper (the Astronaut) was made when Cooper (the farmer) jumps into the Event Horizon of Gargantua.
There was an untimely and relatively unnecessary Cut sequence there, where the scene switches back to earth, for apparently no reason.
Here's how it went. In that scene we see:
1. Cooper(the farmer)'s space craft catching fire soon after he detaches from endurance. (Location: inside Gargantua)
2. Cooper(the farmer) in pain (Location: inside Gargantua)
------ CUT SEQUENCE -------
3. Cooper(the farmer)'s corn field on fire (Location: Earth)
4. Cooper(the farmer)'s son watching helplessly in despair. (Location: Earth)
5. Murph filled with hopelessness, looking at the broken replica of the moon lander that her father gave to her. (Location: Earth)
So, here everything that belongs to or is related to Cooper(the farmer) is shown as kinda broken/on fire, indicating that Cooper (the farmer)'s world is coming to an end and this is where we say good bye to Cooper(the farmer).
******* INSIDE THE TESSERACT *********
Right after that cut sequence the movie makes a switch from Cooper(the farmer) to Cooper(the Astronaut) who jumped inside Gargantua may be decades ago.
So, when Cooper(the Astronaut) who jumped inside Gargantua in that parallel universe, at that time, Cooper(the farmer) was probably living on that farm with Murph.
The Cooper that we see inside the Tesseract is the Cooper(the Astronaut) from the parallel universe who has been dragged into the universe of Cooper(the farmer) inside the tesseract by "they".
Here, upon seeing Murph from inside the tesseract he realizes that he is looking at a Murph from a parallel universe and initially he feels that he has failed in his mission, so he feels that in that universe of Cooper(the farmer), he should make them STAY together, hence he sends the STAY message.
Then after TARS (not the TARS we saw earlier, this is TARS from the parallel universe of Cooper(the Astronaut)) tells him about the tesseract, Cooper(the Astronaut) eventually realizes that "they didn't choose him, they chose Murph to save the world".
Now everything becomes clear to him, and he,
1. gives out the NASA's coordinates to Murph and Cooper(the Farmer), so that Cooper would take Murph to NASA ********* TO FULFIL THE CONDITION 1 **********
2. gives the quantum data through the watch. ********* TO FULFIL THE CONDITION 2 **********
Once, both the conditions are met, "they" know that his job there was done and hence, they close the tesseract and send Cooper(the Astronaut) back through the wormhole after which he is rescued and taken back to the Cooper station.
Now as "they" have access to infinite space and time, "they" make Cooper(the Astronaut) travel through the wormhole at the time when endurance, with Cooper(the farmer) inside was going through the wormhole in the opposite direction. There Cooper(the Astronaut) distorts spacetime to create an impression of a handshake with Brand.
**** WHY COOPER(THE FARMER) ****
So, when Cooper(the Astronaut) jumped into Gargantua, "they" dragged him into Cooper(the farmer)'s parallel universe,
Why did they do it that way?
Why did they not let him be in his own universe, of Cooper(the Astronaut)?
The answer is cause that would never have worked out. If from inside the tesseract, Cooper(The Astronaut) would give out the NASA's coordinates back himself (Cooper(The Astronaut)) of the past.
Then Cooper(The Astronaut) of the past would have known where those coordinates lead to, cause he worked with NASA (the secret organization), and that being a top government secret, he would have never shared that information with Murph and hence, CONDITION 1 would not have met.
So, they had to create a parallel universe for Cooper in which he would think that NASA has been shut down and would not be aware of the fact that NASA was later re-instated.
To make that happen, they create a Gravitational anomaly to crash Cooper's spacecraft (the one he had a nightmare about in the beginning of the movie) to somehow force him to quit NASA and hence, created a parallel universe of Cooper(the farmer).
When Cooper(the farmer) received the NASA's coordinates, he had no idea what those coordinates lead to and accidentally ended up taking Murph to NASA, hence fulfilling the CONDITION 1.
That for me is the Plot of Interstellar. There was no time loop or bootstrap paradox. In the 5th dimension there never is.
Then who constructed the tesseract?
This is stupid af. It's not alternative universes. Its one universe and one time-line. It just has a "loop".

I still can’t get over the fact that for more or less, this movie (edit: visually rendered) a black hole and closely predicted exactly what a black hole ended up looking like when NASA first caught one. Imagine what else we might have that is right now, too?

The theoretical physicist Kip Thorne who helped write and advise on the film provided calculations to the visual effects team which resulted in them creating a never-before seen model of a black hole. Then, last year, a NASA space telescope located and took pictures of a supermassive black hole 55 million light years away. And it looked REMARKABLY like the one in Interstellar. Dr. Thorne and the visual effects team from Interstellar did such a good job that their work was posted in several scientific journals and ended up accurately predicting the look/behavior of the real thing.

@@KevAlberta the model was made from complex mathematical equations. They used a super computer to input what a black hole would look like using those equations. It turns out that they look almost identical to the real black hole and once again einstein was right decades after his death.
I always assumed the ending had gone something like this:
Black Hole & Time Dilation- Cooper falls into the black hole and the movie itself helps provide the fact that the stronger the gravity=the greater the time dilation. So with this one fact you can prove that as Coop gets closer to the event horizon the people farther away are experiencing time a lot faster. Theoretically, if Brand had looked at Coopers ranger approaching the event horizon it would seem as if he wasn’t moving at all; slowly just fading until after a really long time just disappearing into nothingness. So once he passes through the event horizon he’s only experienced something like a minute or two while Brand is probably already halfway to Edmunds planet with CASE. At one point inside this black hole gravity has become so strong Brand has already been on Edmunds planet raising generations of the future “bulk beings”. Even a few minutes of Coopers time after that would eventually be nonexistent for Cooper himself; having centuries or millennia pass.
Self-fulfilling Future humans-
Brand would obviously tell the story of the brave man who helped save her and the mission and tell stories of the old world they came from. How gravitational anomalies inside his daughters room mysteriously gave coordinates to NASA to pilot the Endurance. At some point long after Brand has been dead for what could be centuries or a millennia, they most likely realized that Cooper is theoretically still falling into Gargantua, very much alive and could save the man that saved them. THEY put the wormhole near Saturn and THEY construct the Tesseract for Cooper to fall in to and create what I think is called a bootstrap paradox. By them creating the wormhole in the future it allows it to exist for all the time before it. By them placing Coop into the Tesseract it allows him to send himself on the mission and complete it therefore saving the future humans and repeating the process indefinitely. Once completed, they are able to pull him out back to when Brand was JUST slinging out of Gargantua and approaching Edmunds planet. This HAS to happen at only this time because it was the only time Coop could leave the wormhole to be saved by Cooper Station (minutes of oxygen left in his supply). Now with him reunited with his daughter she inspires him to go to Brand; inevitably joining her and raising the future “THEY” humans to dedicate the research time needed to make the bootstrap timeline possible however many centuries/millennia in the future when the answers needed are finally found.

We can’t make sense of how it’s possible because our brains can only perceive time as past, present & future. To them it’s always no matter what. I’m not Christopher Nolan though so that’s just my theory on it. My theory only matters to me because it’s how my mind strung everything together watching this movie easily over 100 times. Anyone and everyone has their own way of piecing the end together and I guess that’s the beauty of some of his films. I love this idea because movies such as Interstellar are highly capable of doing what series such as Star Trek did for prior generations: It has the potential to inspire a new generation to become scientists, engineers, astronauts and explorers. Media that has the ability to show what we understand to be possible while also giving you the breadcrumbs to try and make it possible are extremely impactful and inspiring for the benefit of humanity going forward. Just think of the scientists at NASA that were inspired by Jules Verne, or Gene Roddenberry or George Lucas. Having breathtaking experiences in the imagination create building blocks for reality.

When Coop first left his family to join the Interstellar mission, he checked under the blanket beside him in the truck while he was driving to NASA, and Murph wasn't there so he started crying even harder. That shit was heartbreaking.

My favourite film of all time. So sad that many didn't get it and couldn't appreciate it for a masterpiece that it is. This film changed me... It taught me about time and space being relative. Possibility of being able to view time as a space dimension, i.e. being able to "see" all the moments of time at once. Warping of space. Gravity.. Other dimensions... Making decisions for the greater good vs for the selfish reasons...etc etc
Man, Interstellar explored so many interesting themes. And the visuals on it were absolutely amazing - so glad that I saw it on the big screen first. Also, Hans Zimmer's score is breathtaking - one of the best of all time.
The film is magic, except that it's not. It's science. It's real. It's true. And so many people don't get it, so they don't like it. Or just focus on the "love" message and write the film of as too chic flick.

Many said the same about 2001 Space Odyssey. Many walked away puzzled, Many though it pure rubbish, but for some, it created thought and questions about man's evolution and how other beings may have influenced our evolution (gods?). Stanly Kubrick was very much about the visuals and how what you saw was more influential and created deep thought versus spoken words which tended to make the viewers just follow along instead of think about what they were seeing. Certainly Interstellar is a movie that makes most viewers reflect and think about what they saw long after the credits have finished and the last kernal of popcorn is swept from the theater floor.

Interstellar is like Harry Potter if you change magic for science. Everybody thinks it's about the incredibly convoluted science part/magic. But it's really about love. Even though I never fully understood the science behind it, the movies never confused me. It made perfect sense in every given moment

No that's not what I meant. I know that the science part of Interstellar is not some magic.Yes, the science is very accurate and doesn't violate any laws of physic for plot convenience. It could theoretically happen. "Magic" referred to Harry Potter. I put it in a wrong way. I mean. a lot of people think Interstellar is about science and Harry Potter is about magic. Sure science and magic are very important part of the narration in both the stories respectively, but that's not what the story is about. Even though both stories explore many ideas and themes, the core of the story boils down to love. Essentially in both the stories "love" is a force much stronger than magic or science. In the end Harry doesn't defeat Voldemort because he is the better magician and Cooper doesn't save earth through some path-breaking scientific discovery. They both succeed because of their capability to feel love. If it wasn't for "love" both the stories couldn't exist. Both stories a tribute to the idea of "love" being more powerful than any other force on earth. That's what I meant.

there are a lot of people that criticize this movie for being “cheesy” by implementing love with science- but i think it’s beautiful and perfect. this video said it best. going forward, humans need facts and logic, but all needs to be held together by love. also, people seem to be annoyed by the last ten minutes of the movie, saying that it feels too perfectly wrapped up with all the answers. i think it needed to end this way. there are certain movies where ambiguous endings are great, but this is not one of them. such an emotionally resonant movie with such hardship calls for an ending that shows the payoff. a nearly three-hour movie needed to have a powerful, clean ending like it did. i think it’s perfect.

interstellar is a ghost story, and cooper sent the messages from beyond, before he died. thats why the last 20 mins are so strange, idealistic, and dream-like, its because it is coopers' "death dream" where he survived a black hole, "appeared" on the solar system lightyears away, reunited with his daughter, saved the world, "stole" a fucking interstellar jet out of nowhere and hyperjumped into infinity. what is the last thing you see before you die? your children. murph. that last scene is his mind pushing forward, just like Mann said. thats the end of life, the end of coopers personal movie. theres a lot of death and 'letting go' imagery in that weird ending, murphs 'frees' him to go/die in peace and live his next adventure, theres even the house in a museum setting, which he said didnt feel real or right, because it was maybe a fabrication of what he thinks he misses, and then he realizes that you cant live on memory. you have to move on.

Contact and Michio Kaku's Hyperspace book helped me understand this film. Another classic from Nolan.

This film reminds me so much of Arrival. Both films are metaphors that love is the answer to everything and it is the most powerful force humans can have. As well as living in the moment. Very powerful stuff.
Cooper's argument with the teacher about the Apollo missions made me cheer.
Imagine being the one who solved that shit, and your daughter is named after that instead of you.
That was what I thought at first as well but after rewatching it again and seeing some videos on youtube, all of these things happened because 'They' chose Murph not Cooper. Cooper said it himself in the movie. 'They' had a lot of options for people and memories to choose as a way to send the message. For 'Them' the options are endless as time in the fifth dimension is just another space that they can move freely. Murph really loved her dad and the memory of her father leaving left such a huge impact for her. She kept believing her father and eventually came back to her old room and look at the watch. That room and that Murph's memory of his dad were the ones chosen by 'Them' to put the tesseract at.
Although it was TARS that got the equation and translated it to morse, Cooper was just the bridge sending the codes. All of it wouldn't have happened if not for Murph's love for her dad. Also people on earth probably wouldn't believe if she told her how she solved the equation, so she just said that her dad played a big part on it.

Interstellar is one of those films which I feel isn't really taken too seriously. I can see how people may see a lot of what happens in the end to be some new age mumbo jumbo, however I feel it really does a great job in communicating that there is something much larger going on in our universe that humans may not be able to understand, yet. The idea of the multi-verse is making it's way into mainstream media now and whether you believe it or not, it is something really interesting for us to think about and maybe help us understand our lives a little more.
Nolan merging cience with religion showing us that humanity will evolve so much that we will become like gods changing the matter of space and the fabric of time.

I sat with my two boys, a veteran of the 1990 Gulf War, and I cried with joy.
I then showed them Asimov's 2001: a Space Odyssey from the 60's.
And I explained it all to them - the facetime/skype, the AI, the satellites, the space stations, the shuttles.
They then turned to me, 8 and 10, and said "So this is our future?"and I said, most likely.
We shared a beautiful and terrifying moment.
And in that, lies the absolute genius of this movie.
2001 is not by Asimov; it' s a movie made by Stanley Kubrick based on the stories "The Sentinel" and "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke (the guy that said that "any technology far advanced enough is indistinguishable from magic")..
Most underrated film of the 2010’s.
I always felt the importance of Murph and Cooper’s relationship. Their love for each other (despite his other son being there too) was so impacting on their journeys towards saving humanity.
I never questioned the science of the film, that’s not the message of the film. The message, as I always saw it, was the importance of love, hence Hathaway’s heartbreaking monologue.
I’ve read many threads on how accurate the film is and it seems to be very important to the space/science community, there are other members of the audience like myself who just enjoyed it for what it is.
There are many apocalyptic films that show the humanity’s fall not through some huge natural disaster (but natural disasters are the end of the world for many lesser developed countries’ citizens) or aliens coming to destroy us. It was because humans ran out of food and that is so much more believable and close to who ever is watching this film.

This movie blew my mind and absolute master piece not a surprise that nolan was part of the process. The man is a genius.
Cooper was saved for the higher intelligence understood he was able to OVERCOME HIS EGO by being willing to sacrifice himself.
The movie The Abyss had the same concept I believe. The one that was willing to self-sacrifice was the one saved by a higher intelligence.

Because you'd never felt what a heart break is when you put trust on a son to be left for almost 3 decades, worse in space, and suddenly he threw you under the bus.
Murph just can't accept the fact that Cooper has to go not knowing when to come back.
She is with the Professor until she finds out that the Professor has made a solution yet desperate and lost hope which drives Murph to reveal it to Cooper. In fact Murph is the only one who is still sending message while his son already gives up on him after losing Jese and his grandfather.

Why are people so confused by Christopher Nolan movies? I thought Interstellar was pretty self explanatory
The people who were confused were those that had little or no understanding of multi-dimensional physics and 4th dimensional time theory. As 3 dimensional beings that don't live in higher dimensions it is a little confusing when we try to imagine higher dimensions because our mind is also 3D and can only really comprehend 3D. Even a Tesseract as we illustrate it is still a 3D item as we have no TRUE way of showing what 4D looks like so it is difficult to show in a 3D or in the case of a film 2D format.

Nolan made small details behind in his films, so we can re-watch the film again.
@@ralphjosephrjm326 there are two different ways of interpreting nonlinear time in fiction. You've got the idea that there are different timelines, i.e. Ocarina of Time. When Link goes 7 years in the future, Hyrule is destroyed because Link wasn't there to stop Ganondorf, and even after Link has defeated him in the future, when he travels back in time to stop him in the past, that dark timeline where Ganondorf was in power for 7 years never goes away.
Alternatively, you have the idea that time is a singular timeline, which is the approach Interstellar takes. This interpretation is like Marty McFly going back in time and making sure his parents get together so he will exist in the future. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. The bulk beings helping Cooper save humanity are compelled by fate to do it, because it is impossible for them not to. They can't exist if they don't help Cooper.
interstellar is *the* best movie out of all of the movies out there and i’m proud to say that i just watched it for the 25th time since the year i found it: 2017. and with each time i’ve watched it, i was able to understand more and more of the whole movie. i’m currently 13 and the first time i watched it i was 10. this video really helped to wrap up my theory of the ending. so thank you.

Crying during something like Interstellar doesn't make you "like a bitch". It shows that you were so invested, interested in such an experience that it moved you.
They never talked about how cooper could use gravity through the 4th dimension to communicate with murphey. Some theorists think that gravity is so weak because the rest of gravity slips into the 4th dimension. So THEY use that anomaly for Cooper to communicate with his daughter.

The first time I saw Cooper fall through the black hole, I was shaken, because such a thing would be a death sentence for anyone.
But because of love, the Tesseract existed to help Cooper send a message to his daughter through gravitational waves and spacetime.
In a sense, you could say that love is stronger than a black hole.

I watched it on release in theatre when it first came out, so I didn't remember many of the details, just the general premise as it's been 5 years. I saw a post on Facebook about the score ticks on Miller's planet each being a day, so I decided to rewatch it this evening and I remember why I loved it so much. It's so strongly profound in it's own unique way, it really left me with the feeling that it's an absolute masterpiece, much like Inception did.
As a person who is fascinated and an avid follower of physics, astronomy, and an Env. Science grad, I think it was brilliant. The visuals are second to none, the physics is astounding, and the conceptualization of what lies beyond the event horizon is facinating to say the least. Not to mention the goosebumps you get when Coop sees Murph for the 1st time again...
Also, it takes one hell of a movie to make me think of Michael Caine's character as an asshole. If that isn't groundbreaking, I don't know what is. 😂
It most certainly isn't a film for everyone, but I'm thankful Nolan and his team produced this wonderful bit of cinema. I hope this inspires people to keep pushing boundaries and to look up and be a little more curious about what lies out there.

I think that Interstellar cannot be considered as a "perfect" film without its musics. Hans Zimmer did a great job! He composed awestriking musics that makes Insterstellar as a "perfect" movie.

What was that "Quantum Data" the movie is referring to? another question is, When the Tesserect was collapsing and Cooper was hurled into space, he ended up in a specific time where his daughter already built that makeshift world whatever you call that, Why was he hurled into that specific time. Was that random or intentional?
Interstellar is one of the greatest movies of all time. I've watched it dozens of times, but it never fails to amaze me over and over. Truly a masterpiece.

I don’t think the future humans putting the tesseract within reach is a plot hole. I think humanity always survived through Brand getting to the planet and then their ancestors put Cooper in the tesseract to save the humans who in their timeline died suffering on earth.
Underscoring the film’s point that we should care about future - or in their case past - generations because they’re our fellow humans and we have the capacity for compassion.
I have one question.. Although what u say might be correct but let's say these fertilized eggs with Bbrand grew up, to be the future people.. But then how did they know anything about Cooper. Even if they know anything about Cooper and if they can run forward and back in time.. How can they possibly make a tesseract with full of Cooper's past to which they know nothing about?

When i first watched this film, i immediately fell in love with it. Automatically the best movie in my life, so far, until now.
And im really hurt when i hear people got sleepy in this movie.
If you love this movie you need to see the movie The Tree Of Life. Another movie that flew way over most people's heads.
I watched this movie as a kid not knowing much about any of the concepts and what they meant, but now being old and mature enough to realize what everything meant, it really surprises be Nolan could actually come up with a story with so much depth in it, really amazing!

In fact, it might and should one day be seen as groundbreaking as 2001. A Space Odyssey did. But it has an advantage over the latter film by also having a heart, while 2001 -despite its dazzling, sublime cinematography - was just filled with a kind of cold logic that creeped my out when I saw it for the first time.

It stayed so close to real astronomy for almost the entire movie and then they just throw some weird inside of a black hole stuff at us
Its not weird. Its possible. Space and time were always bound to each other and by creating this 5 dimensional world, the movies shows us we do not understand the possibilities in the universe. Personally for me the end was the most captivating and mindblowing i have ever seen in a movie, ofcourse your opinion is as strong as mine..

2:18 You forget that the robot CASE was also still “alive” at this point in the film. He was running the Gargantua-slingshot maneuver. You also see him at the end on Edmunds’ Planet with Dr. Brand.
Hands down ,, the best sy fi movie I have ever seen... 2010,, is great,, but I have never seen a movie that has stirred up emotions in me like interstellar,,,it’s just heart breaking and fantastic all at the same time...
