@@audreyharris7643 Yeah, everyone just took the director's word that they wouldn't crunch when he obviously knew they would, he's on my shitlist just for that ngl.
Moana 2 was …. Something. The adventures were kinda boring and lackluster. It would’ve been better if Moana met other islanders along her journey. Yeah, Disney should’ve done an 6 or 8 episodes in D+.
As a Canadian, I’m glad that the work on Moana 2 was done by Canadian Animators/Artists. But, it’s for sure a double edged sword, because it meant that Disney was able to pay them less and that absolutely isn’t right. It really irks me that most people are unaware or simply don’t care about all of this. (The latter of course upsets me more.)
This may surprise some, but Walt Disney himself was notoriously anti-sequel. He seldom made them. When his 1933 animated adaptation of The Three Little Pigs made a lot of money and won an Oscar, he was asked by distributors and theaters to make more cartoons with the characters. He only did them because his brother and business partner Roy O. Disney said they needed the money. The three cartoons starring the characters were nowhere near as successful as the original. From thereon in, Walt Disney would frequently say throughout the years, "You can't top pigs with pigs."
I'm gonna keep saying it: Tangled the series should have been the BLUEPRINT for movie related series going forward. They had the chance for a new age of series people actually like like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. They could have even done some of the crossover things they used to do like the way Hercules showed up in both of those series (and iirc is canonically Ariel's cousin?). But no one over in mouse land has that kind of vision anymore.
@@DrawciaGleam02 I can't remember much but probably it was that people thought there were pacing issues or that things went too fast. I think it's a solid series with a great story. I'm still saying to this day that Hazbin's Charlie/Vaggie is just Rapunzel/Cassandra made canon xD
I've been thinking it's at this point where our (as in, we hardcore animation fans') loyalty to the Big 5 starts to end in terms of expecting freshness and originality. Not that there is gonna be NONE of that, but like you say, they'll be the exception rather than the rule - all the while indie, international, and just other lower-budget fare are only gonna get propped up more and more with each passing year.
Plus, you gotta remember that studios essentially make their money by leasing the film prints to the theater companies. So, for at least the first week, they make their money no matter how well the film does. The box office returns technically are more about how much theaters are making, which they use to decide how much longer they’re going to keep the movie on screens. If Disney just cared about getting paid for the holiday weekend then they wouldn’t even care how well it did, just how well theaters thought it would do. That’s probably why they cut it down to 90 minutes too, so theaters can run it more times a day, since a ticket is the same price no matter how long the movie is. None of this is good.
Loved a lot of the characters as well as the heavier tone, I wish they did give them more time to shine, the post credit scene especially made me think how much better it could have been.
4:52 Whaaaaaat Disney under paying their workers naaaaaaaah. (lol their are such jerk, hope the employees are given fair wages sooner rather thank later)
It really does feel…demeaning when your favorite and childhood company like Disney, who was a generational inspiration to many if not most people….Be reduced to this, same for marvel but Disney was the first in my eyes to go downhill
I don’t know why everyone on TH-cam is going against it now that it’s shown to make money I mean, I’m sorry guys. Sometimes the audience doesn’t care what the quality is. It’s a safe one. Again, how I use the example everybody bitches and complains about McDonald’s and yet every damn year when the McRib comes back, people try it even though they say they will Again
Because everyone on TH-cam are a bunch of hypocrites they want to think they’re superior they don’t care if people are positive being a negative egomaniac will give them more views this is what I don’t understand why TH-cam is being trashed like twitter and Reddit
So? Lots of shit makes money, and lots of good shit makes mote money. Also, with the tainted slivered onions controversy at McDonald's, their business pullmetted.
Sure, but only eating the McRib forever makes for short horizons, especially if you're not the kind of person to go out of your way to broaden horizons
In my opinion, it's BETTER than Wish, Strange World and Raya and the Last Dragon. Also it has as of today broke even at the box office something that Wicked and Gladiator 2 still haven't done.
This is why I’m glad I quit trying to be a animator for Disney or anyone else but for myself they don’t pay 💰 good money and take everything while we lose
I imagine the best hope of seeing the cut content is releasing an extended cut of this movie that’s exclusive to Disney Plus like what Max did for the Justice League movie. That would be the perfect opportunity to make the story make more sense and maybe add a song or two done by Lin Manuel Miranda.
So they took the Moana series that was supposed to be on Disney plus, and basically did the reverse of what they've been doing with their MCU shows (which is basically turning movies into 6 episode TV shows). So the reason it basically feels off to people is because it is edited more like a movie that was made for TV rather than for the theater.
Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, it just does. Speed-cutting a show into a movie is the laziest thing any studio has ever done. But to believe that Disney would come to that point in its history is as depressing as Trump 2.0.
Hey round table I have a question are you going to make a video about new gravity falls characters and villains or are you going to talk about new Steven universe villains both human and gem I think some of the humans might use gem technology or just gain gem-based powers.
They should’ve stuck with the series idea and just made a proper sequel movie with the original cast, crew, writers, directors, songwriters, and score composer…
How is it legal for them to pay TV wages and then last minute change it to theatrical release? Like that genuinely seems like a lawsuit ready to happen?? 🤔
I saw two people each with 4 likes in the replies of one of Moana 2’s songs I was watching because I wanted to rank them and they said “Moana 2 is BETTER THAN MOANA 1 AND INSIDE OUT” LIKE WHAT DID WE WATCH THE SAME MOVIE?????!???
Wow! I'm here at the get go for once! But yeah, the 2020's are going to be sequels only. And unfortunately, everyone who doesn't keep track of animation news doesn't seem to care.
I didn’t like Moana 2 and it is valid to be concerned that Disney will learn the wrong lessons from its success, but it’s still a harmless film that doesn’t ruin the first Moana.
Welp!! It is official. Disney theatrical animation is in the tubes!! You know I had one last sliver of hope for a second that Moana 2 could be a hit, a return to the forum to the classic Disney Movie with action, adventure, lovable characters, a dangerous villain and entertaining songs. Undoing the abomination that is Wish. But no. No. No, no, no. It's all wrong!! It's just four episodes of a movie, TIED TOGETHER???!!! Has Disney learned nothing from Atlantis: Milo's Return?? Disappointing.. 👎👎 I won't be seeing Zootopia 2 or Frozen III, even if people tell me it's "better than the original."
2:22 Couldn't have said it better myself. It's just going to tell Disney that they can turn any TV projects they have with their properties into lazy, shoddily made sequels that will generate money, as well as continue to stifle creativity for any original movies. Which is frustratingly in-line with their current plan -_-
Disney is just doing their old practices again, should be a surprise to no one. Although there is really no one to feel sorry for, as Hollywood has long screwed itself over to irrelevant in terms of movies and shows. So, having them get it done in Canada instead of Hollywood should be no shocker at all, as more and more of the industry leaves the dumpster fire known as Commiefornia. As for the movie itself, it would make sense for it to be mediocre as you very rarely ever get a good movie built from what was suppose to be an animated series. Even with as bad or boring as the sequel is, it could be better than the upcoming live-action remake with a vastly overblown budget and pure laziness.

The creator and the author of Rise of the Guardians expressed hope for a sequel or two and for some reason they haven't made an agreemenet with Dreamworks since 2013. @Dreamworks , give this franchise a CHANCE. If you don't believe me, this film is 12 Years old NOW!? Give it a Rerun at cinemas like you did to Shrek 2. THIS IS THE Holiday Title I would watch over what Moana 2 got from Disney.
Ed Edd n Eddy and other shows are leaving on the 31 of this month 😢.
I mean honestly, back when the first Sonic movie came out it also came out that the people who fixed it up all got fired with their studio getting shut down right before Christmas on top of the insane crunch and absolutely no one cared, so I don't see why people would care for workers getting mistreated now.
I honestly didn't know
@@audreyharris7643 Yeah, everyone just took the director's word that they wouldn't crunch when he obviously knew they would, he's on my shitlist just for that ngl.
Moana 2 was …. Something. The adventures were kinda boring and lackluster. It would’ve been better if Moana met other islanders along her journey. Yeah, Disney should’ve done an 6 or 8 episodes in D+.
It was definitely a cartoon.
From thereon in, Walt Disney would frequently say throughout the years, "You can't top pigs with pigs."
beauty and the beast belle's magical world, Atlantis Milo's returns and Moana 2 all having one thing in common.
Yes there all fun movies that not enough people give love to
@@Anthony-dl8bg ...
Hope that they come up with original ideas after this
I'm gonna keep saying it: Tangled the series should have been the BLUEPRINT for movie related series going forward.
But I've heard that Tangeled series had quite a few flaws.....
First time I’m convinced people are exaggerating about a film
Plus, you gotta remember that studios essentially make their money by leasing the film prints to the theater companies. So, for at least the first week, they make their money no matter how well the film does. The box office returns technically are more about how much theaters are making, which they use to decide how much longer they’re going to keep the movie on screens. If Disney just cared about getting paid for the holiday weekend then they wouldn’t even care how well it did, just how well theaters thought it would do. That’s probably why they cut it down to 90 minutes too, so theaters can run it more times a day, since a ticket is the same price no matter how long the movie is. None of this is good.

that's kind of evil, underhanded and a little dark
Loved a lot of the characters as well as the heavier tone, I wish they did give them more time to shine, the post credit scene especially made me think how much better it could have been.
4:52 Whaaaaaat Disney under paying their workers naaaaaaaah. (lol their are such jerk, hope the employees are given fair wages sooner rather thank later)
The “Beyond” song is literally “Legends Never Die” from League of Legends😂
I would've loved it being a series on Disney+ as planned. It would've felt alot more fleshed out....
GOOD Pun there, Austria, GOOD Pun!
I don't think I will watch the movie knowing that it has been shortened for the sole purpose of being a cash grab without paying their workers
The Big City Greens Movie deserved to be in theaters more than this
First I love Moana 2 but Wild Robot should deserved award of heartwarming tears and second I hope Zootopia 2 get more better and not fail.
I imagine the best hope of seeing the cut content is releasing an extended cut of this movie that’s exclusive to Disney Plus like what Max did for the Justice League movie. That would be the perfect opportunity to make the story make more sense and maybe add a song or two done by Lin Manuel Miranda.
I loved Moana 2 :(
sameee I had low expectations going in but I ended up loving it
You can love it, just don't spend your money on a lazy made movie like this. Otherwise we will never get an original again at this point :/
Same, people are so negative these days, it's so sickening.
@@Turtlemmd Whine much?
So they took the Moana series that was supposed to be on Disney plus, and basically did the reverse of what they've been doing with their MCU shows (which is basically turning movies into 6 episode TV shows). So the reason it basically feels off to people is because it is edited more like a movie that was made for TV rather than for the theater.
Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, it just does. Speed-cutting a show into a movie is the laziest thing any studio has ever done. But to believe that Disney would come to that point in its history is as depressing as Trump 2.0.
Wow that title is such a sick burn 😎👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey round table I have a question are you going to make a video about new gravity falls characters and villains or are you going to talk about new Steven universe villains both human and gem I think some of the humans might use gem technology or just gain gem-based powers.
Now we wait for the VAs to sue disney for their work on the "movie". Same situation with Robin Williams.
Bonus points for using DBZ KAI Yamamoto music for the opening reviews at 0:01
I honestly though Moana 2 is just as good as the first movie
Disney was never your friend -_-
That’s literally every company buddy it’s not just Disney
That thumbnails/name was really funny and poggers!
The thumbnail looks like something schaffrillas would put in his video called " moana 2 is a movie that exist"
Dang, that's the 2nd movie reviewer I've seen mentioned here! The community seems to be growing I guess.
Naysayers got egg on face....M2 is almost half way to a billion the first week...😂
I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE JEREMY JAHNS VID IN THE BEGINNING! He is my favorite reviewer!
They meet literal Zulu Warriors at the end.
That title😂
What amazes me is nothing happened in the movie so I can imagine how dull the show would have been.
🎶 "It's okay when Disney does it" 🎶
Tienes un genial humor amigo 😂
Moana 2 is just like despicable me 4, it’s disappointing and bad but the audience loved it
Aww..
Word on YT has been going out telling kids AND families to talk about Working Conditions.
Wow! I'm here at the get go for once! But yeah, the 2020's are going to be sequels only. And unfortunately, everyone who doesn't keep track of animation news doesn't seem to care.
Moana 2 needed more tamatoa!
Disney never gives I flip about there animators just ask anyone who's worked for Disney it makes me sick that they do this
0:30 hmm yes, the floor is made of floor.
I won't be seeing Zootopia 2 or Frozen III, even if people tell me it's "better than the original."
$389.2 million it's a hit already cry some more on the internet I'm sure that'll help😂
@@jordanmoore730 Not only did they get paid for a weak film, but people also stopped boycotting for supporting genocide, cry harder
@@gryficowa did you even read your message trust me buddy I'm not the one crying
@@jordanmoore730 So you support genocide? This explains a lot why there is something wrong with your head
Soyjak thumbnail goes hard
Another reason I haven't gone to the theater since Captain America Civil War
2:22 Couldn't have said it better myself. It's just going to tell Disney that they can turn any TV projects they have with their properties into lazy, shoddily made sequels that will generate money, as well as continue to stifle creativity for any original movies. Which is frustratingly in-line with their current plan -_-
Very funny title there buddy............
Even with as bad or boring as the sequel is, it could be better than the upcoming live-action remake with a vastly overblown budget and pure laziness.
im starting to think disney and other companies decided to copy the way japanese animators are treated
I would love a Moana tv series, I think if this was a tv series it would’ve been amazing
