    I made a bottle after seeing the first video. I used it this past weekend on opening day of bow. I had a buck below my stand for 45mins (not a shooter) and did not smell me at all. I also take a lot of care with my clothing beside using the cover scent but I think an extra step never hurts.

    If you have a 2nd 5gal bucket you can drill a bunch of holes in to make a strainer then when your done with the walnuts you pull the first bucket out and in the 2nd bucket you'll be left with the mixture!

    We use to use walnuts for dying and staining our traps before trapping season, also helped with scent control too. We use to half the walnuts in a washtub filled with water over a fire, bring it to a boil and place the traps in it

    Awesome! I have struggled for years washing my clothes in scent free detergent and keeping my clothes in a bin. I still get busted. This year I am washing my clothes in baking soda and hanging them in a a covered lean to outside in the fresh air. Then putting the clothes in my container and sprinkling dry baking soda on the clothes. Your walnut spray may be just the thing that helps get that big buck another 10 steps closer in the fall. TY so much for sharing. Curt WhitetailsDeerHunting

    First, love the channel. I'm big on scent control, as any serious hunter must be. That said, I feel the urge to bring some light to the topic of "cover scents."" Im a professional k9 handler/master trainer, and so the science of scent is directly in my wheelhouse.
    Deer, just like dogs, have the ability to individually distinguish over 100 scents simultaneously. To illustrate this to my students, I use the "vegetable stew" analogy.
    When you and I smell the stew, we may pick up one or two of the more prominent scents like onions or garlic, but for the most part, we smell the totality of the concoction... the sum of its parts.
    Deer, on the other hand, smell each odor individually and simultaneously. It is literally just as impossible to cover-up your human odor as it is to completely eliminate it. If you are fooling deer, its because you are wind and scent conscious.
    I do believe you can reduce your scent signature and fool a deer into believing you are farther away that you actually are.
    The commercial hunting industry has soaked billions out of the everyday hunter and I'm here to tell you that its all placebo.
    Nonetheless, I really do love the channel and hope you have continued success. God bless.

    Great video! However, this old timers trick works for any food source preferred by local game animals - alfalfa hay, apples, acorns, etc. Back in the day, we took it one more step. After the soaking, we'd squeeze all the juice out of the plants back into the soaking water before bottling the water in a spray bottle. For sappy plants, the sap really helped the scent strength. Happy hunting!

Love the stain it does takes the brightness down gives clothing and backpacks more a natural color. Will give this a good try this season. Hunting public adds an extra element.
    I have to pack in light and walk at a moderate pace to not break a sweat then add clothes from pack at the bottom of tree. After that it’s a prayer I didn’t put in all that work only to see a headlight come crashing around in the area.

    • @PatrickHoover
      @PatrickHoover  ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand that. I hunt public every year. Private too. I am the same way walk in for a few miles in a T-shirt when it’s 20°. Just so I don’t sweat. Then climb up the tree and put my clothes on. And hope no one comes and hunts near me.😂 and I take a spray bottle with walnuts spray, and spray down a bunch.😂

    @mrpush2532 ปีที่แล้ว

    Honestly, I think scent control is way overrated.
    Yes, if you go to hunt with massive BO, your gonna be picked up by scent easier.
    However, its wind direction that is way more important than scent control.
    Consider this, your breath alone carries enough scent molecules that deer can smell out to 100 yds or so. (You.are not shooting deer at 100 yards with a bow)
    Unless you don't breathe while hunting, you are NOT concealing your position to deer if they are down wind of you!
    Again, wind direction is way more important!
    Now also temperature matters!
    If it's at freezing or below, deer can't smell as well. So you can get away with more bo.
    Folks, hunt the wind, don't go out smelling like you just worked 8 hours in a sweat shirt and forget spraying a bunch of stuff on you.
    Hunt in colder weather and increase your chances even more.
    Yes spraying your boots to control scent you leave on the ground can help a bit im sure, but Honestly? I've had deer walk.the same trail I used to a stand and not smell my "boot prints" at all. (Or not care).
    Don't go out smelling like a laborer, and you will do fine if you hunt based on wind direction. Hunt in the cold and your even less likely to be picked up. Done. Dont need any special sprays.
    Do you think the aboriginease took showers before going to hunt? No. They just keep there pray upwind when hunting!

    How long will the scent stay in the bottle?

      As long as it’s cold. It will stay good for two or three weeks at least.
