  • Starting a spur trail by clearing brush with the Kubota BX25D using the loader bucket - I am putting in all weather trails to aid in collecting Maple Sap this winter. I have to do this after dark and stumbling through the mud and bush is not a lot of fun.
After I get the trail cleared and level I will be putting down about 4" of 2+ road base. Stay tuned for the video covering that coming shortly.

I been trying to show this guy I work for how much a man Kan get done with a small traktor. He's willing to invest but a few good deals have slipped thru our hands. He's like a komputer programer. So he doesn't really understand how good deals go fast. But anyways, eventually we will skore a good Kubota. After that I plan on equiping it with a Root Graphle and a brush hog. I live in northern Kalifornija and fire is a real danger. My house burned last year. This year the town of Paradise was totally wiped out. 50 miles away from me. My best friend out there and also my unkle both lost their homes. So I keep telling my boss he needs to klear a bunch of his akerage. He's based in the city so it is kinda"out of sight, out of mind" with him. He Kan wait all he wants but wild fire doesn't play kards.
Have you ever seen those "Piranha" bolt on flat chizel tooth bars? I rekkon on a budget they would do a lot of good for the price. Personally my anticipated approach will be to klear a bunch with chainsaws and ground saws. Then traktor in with the Graphle. making sure the stumps are flush. Then make one final pass with the brush hog and root rake.

Hi SB - I have seen the ripper bars - don't have any experience with them. The smaller Kubotas are not up to super big stumps - if you want to get those out it takes like a day of digging, chain sawing roots and the occasional cuss work. If your trees are up to about 10" you can usually loosen them by tying on to the tree a bit higher up for leverage but stumps in the ground take some work.
Sorry to hear about your loss to the fire - we have had a really bad fire season up here the last couple years too - usually they punch fire lines in with a Cat - takes a lot less effort.
      Take care,

I wish people wouldn't add music to their videos. If there is no commentary then I'd rather hear the tractor and other sounds. Having said that I guess that the producer of the video should get to make it their way and if I don't like it then I don't have to watch it!

Using music or not is pretty subjective. I have been recording with a GoPro in a waterproof case so not much sound makes it through so short of making tractor noises into the computer microphone that has been about as good as I can produce for tractor sounds :)
I have a microphone on order (GoPro's need a funky cable) - will try to produce a tractor sound only video for the purists - or if it works okay do some commentary as I do stuff.
