October 13th 2009, this song got me out of a very, very dark time of my life, I was about to decide to end everything and that’s that, but had a Parachutes CD in the car playing this soundtrack, when it came to “they spun a web for me”; I put the pills and the whisky down, then, decided to rebuild my life, onwards upwards and outwards. 12 years later I’m an entrepreneur, married with kids, loving life, being free in my mind. I thank Coldplay for saving me. I thank Guy, Jonny, Will and Chris for writing and sharing this masterpiece to the world.
I first heard this song when i was at a very dark and low point in my life. My parents were on the verge of a divorce and were both leaning on me for emotional support, i had become disillusioned with my university studies (and life in general), and I had lost the first love of my life. I felt lost and in a lot of pain, which later led to a depression. Many people criticized me for listening to this and other Coldplay songs claiming that they were only "furthering my sadness". But this was far from it - Coldplay spoke the pains that i had in my heart that i couldn't find the words to express- they allowed me to voice my vulnerability, my angst, my anxiety, my pain and sadness and get them off my chest and just be... Coldplay helped show me that i could share the sadness with others so that they would understand and it didn't have to be messy or pitiful, but could be deep, haunting and profound...and maybe, in that way, also encourage others to share the sadness in their hearts, be honest with themselves, get it off their chests and be unshackled. I started writing poetry and being precise about my feelings through my words. Coldplay helped me save myself. Drowning in despair isn't always what kills us - it's being unable to find the words and to share what we're going through and ask for help from those around us. The inability to say, "Please help me... I'm drowning and I don't know what to do...", is what really kills us.
Don't be sad, everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end, believe that all obstacles that occur when this is just a trial order ourselves to be better in the future. Trials and issue just a stepping stone, he teaches how to jump higher. The problem is always there, but how big a problem it depends on how you see it. GBU
This song reminds me of my Father. I was with him the last week he was alive back in April of this year (2020 total shitshow). He was end stage with COPD. He was so weak, I had to carry him from bed to the bathroom. I am so fortunate I was able to be there for him. We were together 24/7 and one night he said to me, " I never meant to cause you trouble, I never meant to do any harm to you, your brother, your sisters or mother." I broke out my laptop and showed him this video. We both sat and listened together. At the second hook, I noticed he was crying, bawling his eyes out. I was too. I played this over and over again. He eventually went into a coma two days later. On the day he died, I played it for him again. I actually saw him smile with his eyes closed. He died about an hour later. Music has power and emotion behind it. This song will always be special to me. I will always think of my Dad, his smile and peaceful face. RIP Duke Even more, lost my Mom 12/27/20. Covid took her. She became infected while in a rehab facility. This disease is not a hoax, it is real. Please be careful, wear a mask in public and do your part!
There's something about Coldplay that is so special. I'm not quite sure if its the lyrics of their songs, the rhythm, or all combined with Chris voice. What I know is that I feel understood and accompanied by their songs.
I think it's that everything about their songs compliment each other, the tune and the lyrics fit each other like puzzle pieces and Chris' voice works so well with their music, their music tells a story of feelings, especially in their older songs like this one, they convey feelings so well and the feelings seem so genuine, it's like I'm the one feeling guilty and in the wrong and yet it's also beautiful because this song makes me feel at peace...but that might just be me being a huge fan, I grew up with Coldplay and this is my favourite song from them, so that's probably why I love them so much😂
That's because Chris has said it himself, that he doesn't know where the songs for the first 3 albums came from. It's like they were sent by a Higher Power. That's why Chris calls the first 3 albums "a trilogy."

This song saved my life as a child, I won't discuss details but I just wanna take the time to say if you're listening to this, don't give up, it's not worth it, you are stronger than you think, everything bad is just a test we're given and meant to fail but we only get stronger from, life will be ok one day, you'll see, no matter how hard it gets, just pick yourself back up, life is worth living, even if you feel like it isn't, life is a gift
Yes, we're not so different afterall. Beautiful comment. Wanted to write something similar but I see at least here someone understands me a tiny bit. Sorry for writting this here, I have nowhere else to write it. I am not giving up. 🙂👋
This song gives me peace, makes me think of early 2000's, when I was a kid, the world seemed so simple and peaceful, wish I could go back, wish I could live in this video.

@@michaelcambridge1542 Same I'm an 80s child from NorCal. Music was a huge part of life. By the 2000s I was an adult and things weren't simple anymore.
It's so weird. All of the songs I used to listen to remind me of places, events, and emotions. This is the only song that reminds me of a dream. Not even one single dream, just some state of mind that I can never seem to figure out. It's strange how our minds work, isn't it?
oh yeah the instrumental certainly has a interesting limitless sound to it. something beyond all of life and death it's like a farewell song to what was before. it's a sound that reminds me of metaphorically walking towards the future which is unknown hidden from our ordinary point of view
Once upon a time, in the labyrinth of my own existence, I wandered through the shadows of despair, lost and adrift in a sea of uncertainty. Each day felt like a battle against the encroaching darkness, a relentless storm threatening to consume me whole. It was in those bleak moments that a single song emerged as my lifeline, my savior amidst the chaos: Coldplay's "Trouble." The haunting melody of "Trouble" became the soundtrack to my struggles, its poignant lyrics a mirror to the depths of my despair. With each note, it seemed to reach into the depths of my soul, resonating with the pain and turmoil that threatened to engulf me. Yet, amidst the melancholy, there was a glimmer of hope, a promise of redemption buried within the melody. Through tear-stained nights and heart-wrenching days, I clung to the song like a drowning soul grasping for a lifeline. Its soothing embrace offered solace in moments of despair, reminding me that even in the darkest of times, there was a flicker of light waiting to be found. Fueled by the courage instilled by the song, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and healing. With each step forward, I shed the shackles of my past, embracing the beauty of life with newfound vigor. Surrounded by the love and support of those who believed in me, I began to rebuild what was once shattered, stitching together the fragments of my broken spirit. As the years passed, the echoes of "Trouble" remained ever-present, a constant reminder of the battles I had fought and the victories I had won. Today, as I stand on the precipice of success, bathed in the warm glow of accomplishment, I am reminded of the transformative power of resilience and the enduring strength of the human spirit. So, to Coldplay's "Trouble," I owe more than words can express. You were more than just a song; you were my salvation, my guiding light through the darkest of nights. And as I bask in the radiance of a life well-lived, I carry your melody in my heart, a testament to the triumph of the human soul over adversity.
Reminds me of my passed father, too. Now that he's almost been gone for a year, I like to listen to songs and reminisce. Always think of the good times 💜
sorry about your dad💜 I used to listen to a ton of Coldplay with my dad. we even went to their Viva La Vida tour in 2009. we don't as much anymore. we listen to Sinatra and classical music now. Which I still love
Had some troubled times in my life, but losing mum and dad, sister & brother, and the life they led, has given me strength in life to carry on, and this song is a reflection of those times. RIP
This song reminds me of my sister because she always listens to it, she is still alive but I wish she could see the world with a little more optimism. No one ever taught me how to be the older brother and I cannot really rely on my younger siblings. I hope she can realize that she is surrounded by assholes, but that we, our family, will always support her.
As time goes by, great song crafting is going by the wayside. The testimony of great songwriting is the timelessness of the piece. This song will be played long after we're all gone. It's my single favorite song by Coldplay. There's no song I'm aware of that has this sound.
This sound is rooted in late 90’s early 00’s Radiohead. There are probably even more obscure bands that predated Radiohead with a similar sound but I don’t know
I returned here just for a quick listen. Funny this thread mentioned Radiohead. I very recently searched for a song that I heard at the end of OZARK. It reminded me of coldplay. It was so unique and full of feeling. Turns out. The song was written by Radiohead.
So many years and I still get emotional listening to this. So beautiful. #TogetherAtHome made me come back to the video. Thank you for that mini concert you gave us.
I realllllllly needed this. I've started thinking about something I buried in my thoughts a few years ago again trying now to reconcile with my own actions as a toxic person I was to someone. I unknowingly hurt someone and was toxic to someone. "Trouble" really is therapy to help me better.
The last song my Dad loved. I lost him 20 years ago, 23rd July 2000. Life was ruined, never the same again. Miss you so much Dad. 💔 This somehow popped up in my recommendations...
This song is so good and emotional I actually hate it because it makes me legitimately depressed because of the memories it brings back. I honestly try my best to avoid this song.. but I come back to it eventually. "Never meant to cause you trouble.." Makes my spine freeze... I hate it man
Everyone is hating on these graphics but.. I honestly really think they fit the song perfectly. They add a touch of creepy/sad vibe. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Yes..n it's not the era we grew up in or all that nonsense..they simply just don't make quality music anymore..it really ended by 2006 ish for me..n I was still a kid back then..today's music has no ability to touch it inner soul and or heart Imo..it's just crap, pure crap..our society needs help immediately.
The lyrics so intrigued me as a little boy. Now when looking at it, they seem so relatable. One of their top songs. Trouble’s piano riff is iconic at this point.
I can’t even adequately express how much I adore this gorgeous song. This album was Coldplay’s best, most important work. Imagine knocking it this far out of the park on your first go...and then spending the next two decades trying to create something new that captures that same magic. A fool’s errand, sadly. On that note, I’m so grateful to be able to revisit the songs, records and videos that comprised the soundtrack to my childhood, youth, and coming of age. Indeed, what a time. ✨💞🙂
Seriously? Parachutes was great but they clearly showed an incredible evolution with so many hits and great albums post Parachutes. Check out Ghost Stories, A Rush of Blood to The Head, X&Y, A Head Full of Dreams, etc. etc.
This song was one of my favorites when I was younger. Now that I'm older, this song convinced me to become a better person, and to make amends with people whom I've hurt. Thank you Chris,Jonny, Guy and Will. You guys gave me some of my best childhood memories I could ever have, and made me a better person. I will never forget you guys, or what you did for me.
I love videos like this, where the artistry of the song is equaled by the artistry of the visuals. I get the same soul-deep satisfaction hearing and watching this, as I do from Benjamin Francis Leftwich's "Atlas Hands" and Bon Iver's "Holocene".
Hard to believe that this came out 20 year's ago on the 10th of July. Where did 20 year's just go? A young man starting out in life on a journey joining the Army at 18, little did i know coldplay would become the soundtrack to some of my best year's in life. I've never been able to watch them live even though they played at the richo arena near to where i live. Lets hope they tour again soon and see sense that they are depriving people of their great art.
Hoy siendo las 4. 30 AM , mi pequeña de tan solo 5 años despertó y me pidió esta hermosa canción 😍, me siento feliz de que poco a poco a su corta edad empiece a adoptar estás melodías maravillosas!!!

Drowning in despair isn't always what kills us - it's being unable to find the words and to share what we're going through and ask for help from those around us.
The inability to say, "Please help me... I'm drowning and I don't know what to do...", is what really kills us.

Yes, we're not so different afterall. Beautiful comment. Wanted to write something similar but I see at least here someone understands me a tiny bit. Sorry for writting this here, I have nowhere else to write it. I am not giving up. 🙂👋
thanks buddy it made me feel worth living, these days will pass soon...❤🙂

No other song breaks me like this one.
You feel me

Same, me too.

Still sounds fresh in '24
This song gives me peace, makes me think of early 2000's, when I was a kid, the world seemed so simple and peaceful, wish I could go back, wish I could live in this video.

The 2000's to you are the same as the 1980's to me. Great times...and this is a great song.
I totally get you, this song has me feeling some sort of way that I just can't explain
oh yeah the instrumental certainly has a interesting limitless sound to it. something beyond all of life and death
it's like a farewell song to what was before. it's a sound that reminds me of metaphorically walking towards the future which is unknown hidden from our ordinary point of view
+Becca Schopen Same here. I really just wanna kill myself when I get this feeling
+Becca Schopen Yup,very true
+Becca Schopen i totally with you
Absolute masterpiece
All songs of Coldplay makes me think of my life. Its incredible

Ora in viaggio, treno
Once upon a time, in the labyrinth of my own existence, I wandered through the shadows of despair, lost and adrift in a sea of uncertainty. Each day felt like a battle against the encroaching darkness, a relentless storm threatening to consume me whole. It was in those bleak moments that a single song emerged as my lifeline, my savior amidst the chaos: Coldplay's "Trouble."
The haunting melody of "Trouble" became the soundtrack to my struggles, its poignant lyrics a mirror to the depths of my despair.
If you are not a writer, you ought to be. ❤
This is the definition of timeless.
Man, Coldplay, I remember listening all their songs with my father before he passed away, this song makes me cry, man.
+thePRrevolution I experience the same thing
+thePRrevolution feel sorry for you brother .
Reminds me to my father too😔❤️
I love the songs from coldplay when they were sad and poor. Now its just happy and colourful and I find it hard to relate.
They were sad but they were doing music. So overall happy.
When Paltrow came along and they went orchestral they were never the same or as pure.
Chutiya comment mat kar be kuch bhi faltu

Easily one of the best album ever written
Most underrated Coldplay song!!
i wouldnt say 100 mil views is underrated. The real underrated song is A Rush of Blood to the Head
I think it’s don’t panic tbh
Had some troubled times in my life, but losing mum and dad, sister & brother, and the life they led, has given me strength in life to carry on, and this song is a reflection of those times. RIP
I wish you well. They want you to continue.
Giving you love & strength brother ☹️😭
@@ParadoxicalSerenity "sister" , thanking you.

I remember that muy mom was singing this song to make me sleep... I love u mom ❤️
That's so sweet lol tell her hi for me haha

Damn I feel old 😂
@@jennie0021 same haha
u have a cool mom
This song reminds me of my sister because she always listens to it, she is still alive but I wish she could see the world with a little more optimism. No one ever taught me how to be the older brother and I cannot really rely on my younger siblings. I hope she can realize that she is surrounded by assholes, but that we, our family, will always support her.
I miss the old Coldplay
Cold Play, has a song for every emotion .... amazing band
A song that brokes your heart and heals it at the same time.❤
This song is so deep...i can't even explain.
Please explain, I love to hear what this song means to others
coldplay will always have my heart.
There are probably even more obscure bands that predated Radiohead with a similar sound but I don’t know
@@kaleighdavis4097 This is not a challenge...could you give the title of a Radiohead song that has the sound of "Trouble?" I don't know their catalog.
try "Karma Police" from Kid A album, you will probably enjoy it
I returned here just for a quick listen. Funny this thread mentioned Radiohead. I very recently searched for a song that I heard at the end of OZARK. It reminded me of coldplay. It was so unique and full of feeling. Turns out. The song was written by Radiohead.
I love this song.
So many years and I still get emotional listening to this. So beautiful. #TogetherAtHome made me come back to the video. Thank you for that mini concert you gave us.
uwldluvme21 same here

Old coldplay, best coldplay.
Agree
The fact that the comment section is still alive means the song still rocks
:'')
Agree...
Yes
It's underrated, I put this above most of their top songs
its cause of the song called (OFB - BLM)
One of the best songs ever!!
When a song transports you to a different feeling, you know it's a masterpiece.
My favourite song ever. Definitely, maybe the best song ever online. You should make more like it, I think!
I realllllllly needed this. I've started thinking about something I buried in my thoughts a few years ago again trying now to reconcile with my own actions as a toxic person I was to someone. I unknowingly hurt someone and was toxic to someone. "Trouble" really is therapy to help me better.
I had almost forgotten this song .. and its been so long ... i feel like my old self just woke up from a slumber and wanted to listen to this one
i think trouble is the most beautiful Coldplay song ever 😍😍😍
İrem Özdemir i think so 👍
İrem Özdemir fix you !
Hardest Part
I think ''Lovers in Japan" is Coldplay's most beautiful song.
Beautifull music 2013✌😑
I really believe that their early music was the best .
yeah their first two albums are their best
Those who come back to this song when depressed, may all our anxieties go away into darkness.
♾️🙏🏿
Coldplay is the soundtrack of my life. So many memories listening to them growing up. I cried just listening to them the shower lol.
The last song my Dad loved. I lost him 20 years ago, 23rd July 2000. Life was ruined, never the same again. Miss you so much Dad. 💔 This somehow popped up in my recommendations...
;((
RIP :(
I listen to this because I’m sad :(
:(
So sorry to hear about your loss Sue, so sorry.
This song is still such a beautiful classic, Intro to End. Makes a man cry, chefs kiss.
This song is so good and emotional I actually hate it because it makes me legitimately depressed because of the memories it brings back. I honestly try my best to avoid this song.. but I come back to it eventually. "Never meant to cause you trouble.." Makes my spine freeze... I hate it man
same here.
+Ahmad AlNuaimi totally the same way
+Ahmad AlNuaimi This song reminds me the day when my mother passed away. Almost 10 years ago. I know that feeling, man.
Everyone have to go eventually , whats left is only memory and this emotion , which makes us human.
Tough, feel the pain in order to feel something or move past it. The darkness can be quite comfortable and inviting at times.
Everyone is hating on these graphics but.. I honestly really think they fit the song perfectly. They add a touch of creepy/sad vibe. Am I the only one who thinks this?
Nope, I think that too. ;)
Stitchery i agree with you. However i do also think that this is the PERFECT tune
Stitchery its from 98 too. Top of the pops babyyy
Nah. It looks like a storybook. It's actually pretty great.
Reminds me of james and the giant peach
Letra
Oh no, I see
A spider web it's tangled up with me
And I lost my head
The thought of all the stupid things I said
Oh no, what's this?
A spider web and I'm caught in the middle
So I turned to run
The thought of all the stupid things I've done
I never meant to cause you trouble
I never meant to do you wrong
Well if I ever caused you trouble
Oh no, I never meant to do you harm
Oh no, I see
A spider web and it's me in the middle
So I twist and turn
Here am I in my little bubble
Singing out:
I never meant to cause you trouble
I never meant to do you wrong
Well if I ever caused you trouble
Oh no, I never meant to do you harm
They spun a web for me
They spun a web for me
They spun a web for me
Thank you! :)

They don't make songs like this anymore 😭😭
Now they make songs for money. Too bad!!! Ironic.
Yes, they do! Have you seen the Everyday Life album?
So much rubbish out there now
Yes..n it's not the era we grew up in or all that nonsense..they simply just don't make quality music anymore..it really ended by 2006 ish for me..n I was still a kid back then..today's music has no ability to touch it inner soul and or heart Imo..it's just crap, pure crap..our society needs help immediately.
Ik 😭😭like not to be mean but they're new songs are not the greatest
this song will never get old.
Agreed, feels like it just released months ago even tho it's a decade old
The lyrics so intrigued me as a little boy. Now when looking at it, they seem so relatable.
One of their top songs. Trouble’s piano riff is iconic at this point.
Chris Martin is A songwritting genius. Period.
Most definitely agree♡🖤♡
He’s a frigging genius!
What does period has to do with that? 😅
Heard them live in Chicago theater. They sounded great and this was their last song of the set. Never forget it. Great concert
Yes, very coming of age soundtrack for myself and the album of my first love angst
Seriously? Parachutes was great but they clearly showed an incredible evolution with so many hits and great albums post Parachutes. Check out Ghost Stories, A Rush of Blood to The Head, X&Y, A Head Full of Dreams, etc. etc.
totally wrong. every single album up until head full of dreams is better than parachutes.
@@oneupg I was a bit young for that at the time, but I know exactly what you mean. 🥰🤗💗
I remember "download" this song from the radio with my cassette player. It was a simple and lovely era. Yeah it was on summer 2000
This song was one of my favorites when I was younger. Now that I'm older, this song convinced me to become a better person, and to make amends with people whom I've hurt.
Thank you Chris,Jonny, Guy and Will. You guys gave me some of my best childhood memories I could ever have, and made me a better person.

Gerardo Calimayor.
Siempre en mi corazón 🙌🕊️
❤️✨
Te leí la historia, y te juro q me arrancaste lágrimas! 😢
i am so sorry for your loss

Agreed
The best instrumentals they have ever had in one of their songs. Doesn’t get any better than this.

I would listen to this CD over and over when I was 11. It truly helped me.
I don’t know why this song makes me feel like crying 😢
You not the only one
Oh definitely me too. Alot.
the underrated coldplay song!
So many memories because of this song. Back when Coldplay was a decent pop rock band.
I was impressed to know that they would stop to make pop musics and return to a music style more dense and dramatic
I still prefer the old albums, but it is better than other useless album (Kaleidoscope, a head full of dreams...)
I love videos like this, where the artistry of the song is equaled by the artistry of the visuals. I get the same soul-deep satisfaction hearing and watching this, as I do from Benjamin Francis Leftwich's "Atlas Hands" and Bon Iver's "Holocene".
Oh God, every single year I hear this song and I still have the same damn feeling.
Karynah Cruz This seems to the story of my life! They went away from me
Looking for the lyrics, but then I realized I don’t need it. Nostalgia works in different ways. Beautiful song
This came out in 2000??
