I received that flail artifact at the first try, the same day that got featherweight, lifetaker, boltcaster and others artifact, it was a great day :D thanks for the build videos.
Do you still like Mending Vortex for the added perk on Power Stone? I'm torn between that and Crowded Bludgeon. Not because I know anything about flail, just because SherlokGnome's website shows Crowded but your video says Vortex, so now I'm 1 for 1, lol.
Like your build. But would still recommend Str and Con, so that you can deal more damage. Mending vortex scales of from the damage you do and not focus. The other abilities healing scales of focus. But it's not worth it, if you already have a healer in your group. You are sacrificing damage for extra healing.
After testing, I actually agree with this now, only thing you’re losing that I feel is nice is the 10% extra incoming healing from 50 con and more cooldown reduction from 25 con
So Ive been wanting to tank with SnS/Flail for a while now but I'm always hesitant because I always feel it's good for a small % of content but not all of it. If I rolled with this or something siumilar to this what could this build handle?
I just tanked a good bit of Gorgon last night with 0 issue and the only reason our run failed was because of healers dying to mechanics. I think that’s the best recommendation!
M2, no doubt it's enough. I've already tanked several already. M3, you'd obviously want to put the correct gyms for the mutator and match the protection on your jewelry, but most people doing m3's should know this by now. For general tanking, 4 opal/onyx is a good start. The elemental aversion on each frigid dawn piece also really helps
Love your video. Is it possible to keep the aggro decently if you go with the flail but with another weapon like the warhammer ? I wanna try tanky flail but not pair with the sword. 😅🤣
Really enjoy your videos. This build looks really great for mutations. How can you change this / use this for PVP like OPR? I am a fresh 65 on Huds and not sure if I want to play tank, dps, healer for perm. It seems to me that a role like tank/healer can easier get gear with mutations.
100% agree! As I said, the gear was definitely not BIS and getting lucky with health drops is hard. That being said, prioritizing enchanted ward over health is better any day! But yes, I'm definitely missing out on a bunch of health, no doubt. The frigid dawn gear is the best option if you can get health on it, but it costs an armor matrix and 3 seals, which cost a crazy amount on my server and would require 15 days of buying seals each day to up the gear.
I recently came back after a year. do you not need armor with each type of ward now? I used to need a armor set of each ward to be let in mutations. (mutations were also 10 lvls then too)
@darkenedcyrusgames ok I just looked on trade post and they don't have corruption wore their ancient war anymore as a perk. So I just get the 10% across the board with gems and then the armor perks and I should be fine? And thanks since I found your channel it's been great you explain better than most the people out there
I do. Disabled or not, it will come back eventually. I’ve updated this build also. Will do a newer video soon. Doing a simple build for each class, tank, dps, healer
I'm a healer so excuse the question. How are you using taunts without the Carn gems? I thought they did not work as taunts if you didn't have the carn gems.
The Lost Stopwatch artifact activates taunts and does threat like carnelians without having to slot them. Adding carnelians do not stack with the jewelry either.
If I ran greatsword tank with power stone flail and strength and con as my main attributes would arcane vortex still be viable and I’m thinking of taking arcane eruption as well for the 2 stacks of impairment
Bro your throwin with hated and not plagued strikes or trenchent rend on your sword.💯 I've tanked since new world launched three years ago and I haven't put hated on a tank weapon since 2 weeks in launch.
100% agree, except this build has such low dps that I think the extra threat would be crucial. Personally, plagued strikes would be my choice especially with mutators. I’m definitely not a tank main, but this is how I’d run a flair and sns tank build for cheap. Plus, BIS drops like that are crazy expensive to craft or farm. I’m hoping to make guides that are achievable at least for those on fresh start where everything is crazy expensive. Would love your thoughts on BIS options so people can read this comment and get suggestions!
@@darkenedcyrusgames well I tanked gorgon at 692gs with 500 con 50 focus 50 str using flail hammer and zero problem holding aggro. No hated but despised ear and shit perks on my gear. Just enough to get me up to 692. The key is to know what causes threat on your weapons. The sword uses the light attack chain and the third swing creates a lot of extra threat. Heavys ( with a cool down that I have yet to figure out how long) will taunt for 1s. So tailor my flail and hammer around ONLY using heavy attacks. Both also have perks that improve heavys such as flail weakens with a heavy after using and ability, hammer gives you fortify and 12% base DMG reduction when you have grit which you get with a heavy attack as well as reducing it's cool downs. Also many people say oh grit ward is trash now that they have made grit only proc when doing a heavy attack...but when you spec in only using heavy attacks and all of your abilities are gritted then you almost always have the DMG reduction. That being said in my opinion the keratin set of armor with void dark plate is bis AF. Keratin comes with health and grit ward just put in these perks. Crowded bludgeon, mending vortex, for flail. On shield you want sturdy, sturdy energy, fortifying shield rush for sword. Swap shield rush for enchanted ward for any other weapons. For hammer you want either sundering shockwave or sundering clear out on the hammer and ref move. If your tanking a solo boss with no adds nothing is better than a spear with fort perforate. If you wanna learn to tank with any melee weapon let me know I've used them all. Amulets...they are very important. With no real threat from elemental DMG nothing beats ankh. For muts you should have four ammys one for each element and health at least with divine being the bis third perk. Lifering is perfect plus there's the ice one from tarn. If you can get a group to do m3 tarn and just spam going the second mini bOss killing him and bouncing you have a solid chance of getting a bis 700 ice ammy for free. Forge has a decent fire one with empower and fire resist and a high chance for health. There's a nature one from gen but it has str and dex. Also for shields when doing m3 I run elemental ward in place of sturdy energy if possible. Most people say put gems in all your armor I use leeching diamonds and only 3 ele gems in my armor and it gives me 60% resist plus leeching. My opinion on leeching carns...I don't use them they seem to give a significant reduction in threat development. If I do use one it's on a secondary weapon. Hatchet and spear work amazing with them because their taunts are very easily refreshed almost instantly. Earring I use healthy toast, ref toast, healing heart. Most people use stone form only for the rune. While I do use the stalwart stone for for solo bosses. I prefer stalwart dark ascent when there will be adds because the heal is HUGE. If your standing in a sacred it can be a full heal at times.for ring if you have a blue 700 ring you can tank. Just need hearty. Second bus perk would be leeching.. With sword and flail using focus if you had slash DMG your focus sword will hit much better but otherwise go with what your DMG is. Flail and hammer= strike DMG. Thrust is amazing because if your only using heavys it works on sword because heavy sword swings are thrust with pair well with spear. A perfect ring for slash is the privateers heirloom from barnacles. Now here's one for flail that I recently discovered that have yet to test out. Purity. When you remove a debuff from an ally heal for 20% weapon DMG. Vortex removes roots and slows from Ally's inside. So I'm tired AF but if ya have questions just ask. And don't hesitate to try any melee weapon even rapier which adds a distinguished touch to tanking.
@Zykosis That's what happens when people are to lazy to crunch numbers and figure out a build. They just copy a TH-cam build and call themselves a player. Read the flail tree. You can give more than leadership does only a smaller radius. So the real trolls don't know how to read.
I noticed did we have a build for Tank Healer and Tank Classic, maybe next is Tank DPS. Maybe with fire staff (that will be aweasome) to Burn them all!!! :D
Swap attributes to strength instead of focus. I use this build to tank all the time. Just make sure you are heavy attacking when your taunts aren’t up. Make sure you aren’t just holding block also
Flail is a cool weappn but has a fundamental problem the tank doesnt want to swap away longer then 1-3s from his sword (leadership except if he needs a fast stance break u got a dmg boost with flail too but sns boost is way more reliable and the only way to get good stance break is hammer gs thats why tanks in endgame shouldnt use flail. Also not taking leadership is troll people even take a sns dps for gorgon to have double leadership. And last the tanks job isnt debuff thats the job of the spear user.
Totally agree, so explain to me why the healers keep dying and I have to heal myself :p I’m sure this will change as healers learn builds, but with fresh start, there are a lot of new players and adding self sustain is never a bad thing.
I’ll also add. I’m a healer main through and through, but even as a great healer, I know how bad it is if I go down. If the tank can hold his own while dps revives me, we can save the run
Because healers generate more threat than dps do. Tanks should contribute meaningful damage. Of course you can aggro-bot the whole run, but if your DPS players are terrible then get ready for a long one. As a tank you: Keep yourself alive. Keep the aggro on you.
