Just sent my '43 flathead top rings to Total Seal for Gas Porting (all the way from the UK) Really looking forward to having the benefit of this high tech option in an ol'school engine. Efficiency isn't a dirty word!
Thanks for the question and feedback. The gas ported rings can be used in any engine. The simply provide better ring seal, so you can use them in both race and street applications. In regards to wear, that is all about the motor oil. Reducing ring and cylinder wall wear is the job of the motor oil. We have seen no increase in ring or bore wear when using the proper viscosity, high quality motor oil.
Hi, me again! I had Total Seal Gapless Rings (Second Ring) made for my Jaguar E-Type project. Now would there be such ported rings available in addition to Gapless? Or better would it make sense to have both in the same piston? Greetings Bernhard

Chip Barrett-Smith did this in 1972. Did his Engineering pals, Kulwicki & Donahue, also do this

How would they affect ring and bore wear?
Are they race only? Drag race? Endurance? Street/strip?

Does this affect compression ratio at all? Does it produce any more or less power?
We see power increases when we Gasport the top rank. It does not lower the compression ratio.
Are you able to gas port your thin series top rings, or is that pushing the limits of durability?
We can gas port rings as thin as .6mm!

Yes, you can run gas ported rings with gas ported pistons, but the best results are obtained from gas ported rings with non-gas ported pistons.
