Wow Charlie ..You can keep them Bugs they are not nice at all. Lot`s of people are saying it`s silver fish eating my paper but am not sure on that .i do have loads of wood lice .they may be doing the eating . plus they like to die on my tracks the little buggers. Does not look good on the track cams having dead bugs on the lines. LOL .
Hi Guys .. Just let the layout evolve. if you think you can improve the layout go for it but use your skills you have learnt along the way.. My layout has changed so much over the years. All for the better i hope .And it keeps it interesting for the punters . As they say a layout is never finnished. And don`t forget you can pop in and see my layout any time your passing. just off the A548 coast road. At Mostyn. Plus there`s lot`s more to come on that corner yet... Happy modeling ...Regards Lord Al.
Pesky ‘casual intruders’ eh, really sounds like a right pain Allan. Although my wee layout is in a spare room indoors I’ve had a spider ‘attack’ my layout leaving webs. Still haven’t found it yet! Really like your new tunnel portals and it’s always great to see a running session too. All the best from Andy1962 🏴
With the bugs Andy it`s an on going thing every day . Some times the trains come back into the shed looking some think out of Harry Poter Film . coverd in spider webs.,. That`s life in a shed i guess...Lol Thank you Andy for watching.
I like the way you always fit in a running session to your update videos. I wasn't 100% impressed till I saw steamies on the loose. Your update videos are more fun to watch than anyone else's. I don't want to make Lady Barbara jealous, but I could cuddle and kiss you for running some steamies.
LORD AL!! Amazing work as always shame about the insects destroying your work. Maybe set up a cctv camera. Looking forward to seeing your future projects. All the best to you and lady Babs.
Hi Mate, my layout is in a garden shed out back, I had the same thing happening, found out it was a mouse. It was eating the cardboard, but also the material used for trees and foam risers. I hope you find out what it is. The layout updates are looking great. Your Aussie mate Ken
Thank you for watching ..And it`s wood lice eating the paper . If you use clear lacquer on the paper it stops them. it has stopped them on mine so it`s all good again.
Looks great Al. Strange that chewing, definitely a bug, If the night time i would think wood lice, Running shots look great, I gave you a little mention right at the end of my last video Al. Hope you dont mind. Well not such a mention a shot, 😅 ATB sir Al.
No worries Stuart . Big thank you for watching as well. Am going for wood lice Stuart i seem to have lot`s of them. They like dieing on my tracks . LOL.
You have worked very hard, and I admire your patience, and trying to keep nature at bay. No doubt a nice cup of tea is in order for your efforts. I do enjoy the various parts of Dragon's Junction and the level of detail.
Hi Allan. Love those tunnel portholes looks so effective on your ride on. Wish I'd done two levels when I started my layout. Thinking of going outside into the garden a bit, but might be divorce time if I made holes in the cabin wall.☹ Don't know if it's any help, but I had a bit of woodworm, got some spray from Amazon seems to work on all bugs. Not expensive either. Thanks my Lord. Great vlog as always buddy. Thumbs up thumped 👍 ....Pete....
Hi Allan… Hope you and yours are well… I like those portals, they are great improvement on the layout … They also make your running sessions look even better, if that is even possible. See you soon….. Steve 👍👍
Probably woodlice or silverfish they can be attracted to the starch in the paper, When I was replacing the fence wasps had eaten through two slats in several places, still good project dispite your, just stop rail insects.
Am going for wood lice Clive . i seem to have a lot of them . and they like to commit suicide on my tracks.. The little buggers But the Lacquer Spray is working so far . Have fun Clive .
Ambitious project i look forward to seeing it progress, Wasps can do a lot of chewing of wood and paper, they've eaten my shed door a little for their nest building
Those tunnel portals really look the part a nice improvement indeed, shame about the pesky critters eating them though I saw the Castle house looks like it’s had a bit of a chewing as well.
Hi Al, the bug eating your paper is silverfish. I've got them in my loft and its done the exact same thing to my paper buildings. I've been told by youtubers to coat the paper with Halfords matt primer. Haven't done it myself yet due to finding time around work to re-wrap the models and coat them. But there you go buddy. If I manage to get the time, I'll show it in a vid. But year silverfish. You can buy spray for them. Take care Al. Lee
Great job Allan, such an improvement. Crying shame over the bug issue. Let's hope the lacquer works. If not, may I suggest a polyurathane (oil based) varnish and possibly a bug repellent spray too. Can you see any trails, like slugs would leave? At a guess silverfish, moths, cockroaches or even mice, but something that comes out at night? Love the sponges as stoppers brilliant idea. Lovely shots of the full length of the layout.
Well John .. i kill all the mice no silver fish .Dont do cockroaches.. It may be more wood lice am thinking .Anyway so far the Lacquer seems to be working. Am keeping a close eye on things and so far all`s good. used half a can on it up to now .. LOL. So phaze two should start at the weekend all being well..but we are away at Cheltenham this comming weekend. so it will be a next weeks job.now Cheers for watching John.
Off to a brilliant start, m'lord! The peasants have already gotten a lot done, and you seem to have plenty of renewal work ahead for them! Cool idea on the sponges, too!
As a retired pest control man, I think your pest might be silverfish. They like moist humid areas outdoors and indoors in dark areas or at night. They like to eat cellulose, that is wood and paper products. As a service to me Lord. Bill and Janet from California
Thank you Bill & Janet..i think it`s more wood lice here . They like dropping dead on the layout after tuching live tracks.. lol..For ever picking them up.
You need to set up a wildlife trail camera overnight to see what chewing at the portals. We've one indoors to watch a referral cat who comes in through the cat flap during the night for food and one outside to watch a family of 6 badgers who hoover up the left over bird food. It's amazing what different animals visit the garden overnight. You might get a surprize!!!
Yes your right about the wild life at night . We have foxs and Badgers . All trying to get through the fences. Sure make a mess when they do get in . But back to the shed i think it`s the wood lice having a go at the paper . I find quite a few dead on the layout from time to time . Thanks for watching Bobby.
Hi Allan, A nice revamp and it looks so much better than the original it will be interesting what you are having made to replace the walls. Have you thought that with the damage done by the vandals 3D or plastic may have been better there but well done on undertaking it all and a nice running session to boot what more could we want. Cheers Robert.
Thank you Robert. We will just have to see how it all pans out Robert . i have only seen a sample so far and it looks good .So let`s hope it all goes to plan and the bugs leaves it alone ..i better get an other tin of spray ready..lol.
Dear Allan, I'm sorry to see you struggling with annoying insects. I just hope they are bees and not hornets. Many years ago a friend of mine had a wonderful model in the garage, unfortunately it was infested with hornets and it took a long time to exterminate them. A dear greeting, alberto 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
They are good little kits those stone tunnels, I had two on Highfield Road. Nice update Allan :) Out of interest what camera are you using at the end for the running shots?
Someone has been busy…. With regard to ‘what eating the brick paper’ it is a shame for sure. Perhaps you could set up a motion camera to see what is doing this. Weathering or perhaps some trailing vines could help disguise this now.
Hello Lord Al, it’s sound like silverfish I big trouble with them on my layout 5 years ago eating my Metcalfe walls after spraying keen crystal clear spray it’s seem to work I’ve had no problem since.
I had no idea that wasps eat wood or cardboard. I use a 2B pencil to cover the white bits on my Viaducts. I want to make curved sections for two corners of the board. The first one was a disaster. So now I have 4 shaped pieces of perspex and use Metcalfe kits to make them. Two kits per corner and I need two more straight ones. Martin. (Thailand)
Nice video Allen and I do hope that you find the bugs.
I’m currently inundated with Huntsman Spiders!

Thank you for the video Lord Al, Loved the film & it was nice to see you feature in this one, great music choice too, cheers, Pete.👍
Thank you so much Pete.
What you need is fly paper. If you remember when you were younger they hang from the ceiling and the insects stick to it.
Good idea that .
