I am a retired Soldier. When Soldiers retire the Army does a retirement ceremony to honor their service and recognize their achievements. This video is a fitting retirement ceremony for each of those airframes. The difference is that human beings go about the rest of their lives after retirement. For machines their retirement is the beginning of their end as we knew them. For most, retirement is the beginning of recycling.
After 60 years I service ....still a very beautiful plane. I have always loved the F-4, ever since I first jumped in one of them back when I was 9 years old and ever since, I would see them fly everyday above my house, until I got the opportunity to ride them myself. That was when all the inspiration they provided for years me and my hard work payed off. It is a sad day that the last Phantom in service in Japan made its last flight.... I am so thankful that these amazing, spectacular, astonishing, majestic, beautiful planes are still in service in my country, Greece! It is amazing to see these beautiful old war-birds flying over half a century after their design was first developed, there is something to them that I can't describe that makes me feel in a unique way, they bring so much beauty and emotion. I believe that fighter jets of that era are like Gibson and Fender guitars. The best ones were made in the 50's and 60's. There's something about that time period where excellence was just that much better. This video below (along with the one named: You Dream of the Paradise of Phantoms, make me feel in a unique way, nostalgic I would say, combining the history of such aircraft and the music going on. I will always love these planes no matter how better and advanced the upcoming ones will be.
The new stuff may be "more advanced," my friend, and of course it will always cost far more -- but it can never be better. The Phantom leaves a legacy that those overpriced new birds can never match.
No! 440 was retired 4 days ago!? So, she won't celebrate her 40th birthday in the air... I suppose that the consolation is that she'll be preserved and I'll get to see her at the Hamamatsu museum the next time I go to Japan. Thank you for keeping us updated, 1-300!
That kinda sucks, imho... I know that times change, but they could at least have given her that much, to spend her birthday doing what she did best for so long :(
My friend Terry and I used to fantasise about flying these beautiful ladies in south east Asia. And our joke was filling out our logbooks as we crashed on take off, because we were tyro pilots we'd die trying we were that desperate Lolz! We still had fun... thank you 1-300 for bringing back memories of when we were young.
We may say goodbye today, but maybe if the call is made and we need her, we might say hello again, tomorrow. Thank you Phantom, rest well. until we need you again...
The way you cast a glance at the Phantom thru your camera viewfinder either taxiing or in- flight you' re paying her the most fitting, beautiful and enduring tribute anyone or anything may ever had. Amazing job as usual. Thank you.
Excellent as always 1-300. At least you caught them leaving on clear weather days. Hopefully the back-seaters will find new work and pilots move on to other aircraft - or maybe even JAL. I’ve retired an F4 myself - hard to watch and walk away. Couple other jets I flew are in museums now. The tactical community is slowly giving way to UCAVs. F35 last manned platform. Dying breed. Thank you for documenting in such incredible detail.
It is a sad day indeed, for not only are the aircrews flying these magnificent Phantoms into history, they are flying history, and through your equally magnificent work, 1-300, you are preserving them for history. By watching your cinematic creations over this past year, I have grown more and more fond of this jet, and have inadvertently strengthened my bond with the aircrews from my own past. When I was a young man, the older men in my squadrons were veterans of Vietnam who either flew the Phantom, or maintained them. They were the ones who trained me, and finished the job of making me into a man. All good things must eventually come to an end. One by one, they will fly no more. Right now, I'm feeling like an old man. Arrigato, 1-300, from a very big fan of yours. Your work is a great blessing to me.
Still my favorite aircraft of all time. Spent almost 20 years crewing the F4 Phantom. I miss her very much. It became a great part of my life. Hate to see her go away. Will always have fond memories. Thank god for TH-cam and its videos of a Awesome Aircraft.
Amazing, graceful video. They'll be sat like caged tigers watching all the upstarts try and leave a legacy as honourable as theirs. Hope they're maintained to preserve them as long on the ground as they were in the air. Thank you as always.
I will surely miss these beautiful fighter jets, but will never forget them. They area part of our history, and have always been my favorite.I can still watch your videos! Thank you so much for all of your very great videos,I will continue to follow you on TH-cam! I salute you 1-300!!
Farewell F4! Glad you made sure to document them through this last years. At least we will haveplenty of videos and pictures in superb quality. Thank you!
Oh No, is this really it!!? I can't believe they will not fly again. My favorite fighter jet of all time. Hate to see them go. They will always be in our hearts. Phantoms Forever.

Looking forward to seeing the new modern stuff.... but these videos have been some of the best I have ever seen!! Love seeing the phantom!! Great work!
@@2poor4nick Worth paying a visit, it's a great place! I hope they'll save other planes that are going to be moved into another building (T-1, DH, ..) since they are in so mint condition. Looking forward to see also the ATD-X/X-2 prototype there soon as well.
The F-4 had unique/odd lines that made her beautiful. The F-35 is odd, unique. And ugly. (And overpriced) highly doubtful any 35 retirement will bring a tear to any eye.(only Lockeed)

Man, I knew this day was coming but I didn't think it would actually make my heart race like it did.
There are just no words to describe this sad sensation. Pharewell Samurai Phantoms 🙁😢

True victory is having to retire gracefully without having to take even a single life.
Emotional! It's like saying good-bye to an old friend.
The F-4 Phantom is a beautiful aircraft, I want it to remain operational for many more decades and never need replacing unnecessarily.
Even the greatest must find a final resting place. The Phantom will reside in the hearts of aviation enthusiasts for generations to come.
Hard to think that the air will no longer be warmed by the heart of these handsome aircraft. They have earned a place in the sun forever.🙏🙏
Beautiful Samurai Phantom.
Thank you very much and goodbye 🖐

I am going to really miss the weekend Phantom Vids. So sad to see them go....
Really wonderful and incredible montage of the Phantoms as it is a good news to be in the Museum of the very iconic F-4EJ 😎🤩
Looking forward to seeing the new modern stuff.... but these videos have been some of the best I have ever seen!! Love seeing the phantom!! Great work!

Thank you again 1-300 San. I am surprised the JASDF dosn't have an historic or heritage flight.
Wow ... they will miss you so much.
Great video!! I love this birds
So sad, but nice to see static displays!
Thank you thank you thank you
gotta love the F-4!
Thank you!

So so so sad
Phontoms are still fly in Iran.
Encore merci! thanks.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Bellisima !!!
It. dose not get better than this. Air. Hai!
Awesome!
May the Phantoms spend their retirement in museums
All of those retired Phantoms will be displayed in each AB or will be disassembled? Hope can see them here.
440 (shishimaru) is @Hamamatsu for the JASDF museum display, 349 (yusaku) is @Miho in hangar for future display and 404 is already gate guard @Komatsu

when will the Phantoms be flown to Hamamatsu Air Museum?
The Phantom 440 was ferryed to Hamamatsu Air Base on December 1, 2020.
Let's hope she will be preserved as flyable relic... No, a flyable veteran.
