Love the fact that they put the front speakers in those removeable covers instead of planting them on the dash up against the windshield, where you have to use stubby screwdrivers and contortion to get at them. Nice upgrade! Love seeing the old girl getting better and better.
The sound in a 900 was much better than in a 99, where the speakers in the door were placed at such a dumb place that your body blanket it off. When you had a passenger in the front seat the sound from that side was gone. Of course not much bass tones with these 4' speakers, but at normal sound volumes they worked quite well. But about time to get holes in the dash cover to free up the speakers. I drove an '83 99 for 14'years, I managed to source a 99 Tutbo interior and built that in. I put 6' speakers in the door panels in front where I made cut outs in the arch of the arm rest. You needed to be careful winding the windows as there was little room between the speakers and the knob you were holding while turning; it was not a nice feeling to get your finger stuck there. Great place for the speakers though, no obstructions and good bass. The 4' in the 9000 I bought afterwards were 2 steps back in sound quality.
I replaced my ‘91 SPG speakers with Alpines, 4” up front, 6x9” in the rear. Yes, I put them in the parcel shelf. New JVC radio/CD head unit after the original Saab Clarion capacitors gave up the ghost. Sound is exponentially better. At some time in the future, I’ll add an additional amplifier.
Thanks to this video I found out why the speakers on my saab 900 where brutally glued in place... All the clips that hold the front speakers were lost. I guess I'll have to build them.
Hey, i always wanted to replace my '1999 93 se convertible Head unit and speakers. Speakers sound horrible and head unit display screen and AC unit have unreadable characters at times. Any suggestions for replacement and could I replace myself without a Tech2?
I don’t think you’d need a tech2 for anything, but could be wrong. I also have very limited knowledge on that generation, but there is probably loads of useful information on Saab groups/forums
Lol it was great to have some simple electronics for once. I definitely will and want to. My only current problem is that it’s primarily stored outside, so I’d hate to have the sun bake the brand new paint
Back in the days Philips had 2 ways speakers with separate tweeters in front. In my 900 OG I had Nakamichi with 6x9 inches in the back, Pioneer in front, it was really good sound at the time. 🫡👍❤️🇸🇪
At 11:26 the plastic pipe for the defrost air fell down. Hope you got it back into position. I am back to daily driving my og900 after 4 years of driving my og9-5 A60 iceblue. I have done almoast 5k miles with the 900 this summer and most of it has been with the radio turned of even though i have new speakers🙈

Thank you so much. My Saab 900 usually one side will work and the other side won’t depending on how big the pothole is 😅
😂😅
That dash restore is looking like it's holding up very well. Great job sir.
Thanks! It looks quite bad in my opinion and definitely needs to be redone, but I’m glad someone likes it 👍🏼😅

Nice. Yeah, it’s decent for just driving around and having enough volume to listen to music clearly, which is all I need/want

Awesome! Bet it sounds great
Car history the best my friend 😉
What do you mean?
I went crazy with my sound system in my 9-3 😂
Nice! My 9-3 could probably use some new speakers at some point
I dont care about music in my 900 T...Id rather listen to the Exhaust pipe.
Me too, but sometimes I want music
1:32 Serbia mentioned :O
👀😂

Agh. That’s frustrating, but could be a fun project!

Hey man I bought my first Saab ever 2004 aero I need hid headlights can you help me?
Congrats! I don’t have experience with xenons, sorry. Try searching Saab forums and Facebook groupd
So much simpler then the ng93. Are you considering a maaco job for this saab too?

@AutoAutopsy especially that Arizona 🌞. Look fwd to that pre paint prep and post paint video!
if you would replace the cassette radio with a newer CD-player, it would make massive improvement in sound quality. Better in every way
Cool! I quite like the oem radio

Awesome!
In my 900 convertible the rear 6.5" drivers are much easier to access. Still sound like crap though...
Rip :(
When you joining the 7k club?
I’m about to buy Mario party just so I can grind on this game

Awesome! Lol good eye. I had to reach down there and fish it out 😂
Sound Ordinance are garbage
They’re good enough for my use case (and that’s your opinion). I would get something more expensive if I were aiming for top notch sound
