Just bought one of these, now 6 years old, and love it so far. I am in the middle of taking the Dynamic and adding the Stealth Pack. I did make sure to add a full bumper to bumper Patriot Warranty so if you want to protect what you bought used, that is the company to go with. New, this ride went for $92.5k all in.
Hey Merc, where do you get your prices for a 7 series BMW? $60k gets you a decently appointed 5; cheapest in Minnesota is $85k, highest is $111k. Anyway, really enjoy all your reviews Tom. Thanks!
Kieran Gourdel OK! This is not the best SUV in the world, If you think that it is the best SUV in the world, you are delusional. And your delusion can not get any worse than that. Better?
Kieran Gourdel "why do you say its not the best SUV in the world ?" Because, it is not. It is one of the least reliable vehicles in the world. An SUV should be reliable in the first place. "For you wich SUV is the best ?" Jeep Grand Cherokee, Lexus GX, Mitsubishi Pajero. Toyota 4Runner, Ford explorer ... All of them are better SUV's than this piece of junk. It is plush it is capable but it is junk.
I bought one 4 months ago after comparing with the X5 and Cayenne. Cayenne a better on-road drive, BMW better technology but effectively last year's car with attendant reliability problems. Some cars do things better than the Sport but none of them do as many things as well. Just love mine....
$73,000 is pretty damn good for a new Range Rover Sport that's only like €53,000 I know that's still a lot for a car but not for a RR I was looking at buying a new one about two weeks ago here in Ireland and they were all ranging from €105,000 - €115,000 which is about $159,000 . . . It's an amazing car to drive though!!
So, just what happens to your prized RR off-road when your lifted "hi-tech suspension collapses & eats up all your ground clearance? Does it settle down on a nice big ol' rock & leave you high centered? Your out in the middle of no-where, no "reception" on all your devices.....do you start hiking out in your Gucci hiking boots? I've stopped pulling these clowns out of ditches...Darwin, well in play here.
Is it common for the adjustable suspension to fail? its a big plus in my book.....im rather short so the parked height adjustment would rather aid getting in and out the vehicle. :)
MaZEEZaM Almost all Air-suspension designs fail rather spectacularly, primarily high mileage examples. The ones which are obvious to the eye are the city Busses from various manufacturers....you may have seen one, unaware what had happened to that specific bus.....stopped by the side of the road with one corner-tire squat down low, unmoving. There are two types, one whereby Air is used exclusively to hold up the vehicle (No "springs" whatsoever) Another is the type which "adds", aids a conventional spring-type. Both types fail consistently.
Considering most of us off-road our vehicles what... 2% of the time? Unless it's a beater/offroad warrior, uhm.. nothing. It gives a suspension fault message and you go to get it fixed. What happens when you hitch an 8,000lb trailer to your coil spring POS? Uh it sags like a little b1tch, your headlights point into oblivion, every little pebble sends your suspension to the bump stops (which you're basically sitting on..) and if you have to maneuver, you wag your way around the lanes till you crash. PERFECT. Or you could have self leveling air suspension that soaks up EVERYTHING, expansion joints on bridges, pot holes.. whatever.. steering remains finger-accurate, you can hitch a trailer with your key fob (my 1999 land rover does this.. ) . OR you can climb over a snow plow pile when a road shuts down, AND handle like a sports car. I've done both... or ford 28" water in my '06.. then handle like a sports car. I just don't think you get it. Reliability comes at a price, you can't draw a line here.. otherwise we'd all be riding horses to work.
kvabate not by that much though. An example would be a BMW series 7 - in america its 60k - here its over 200k. You think our minimum wage can cover the extra $140k? If you look at the prices for any car, its more than doubled. I dont think our minimum salary can cover that. The main reason its high is because Australia wants to protect Holden, which isnt even Australian. Its American owned - ever since day 1. Its not because our minimum wage is higher. We are just getting royally fucked. We also get the worse versions of the cars - limited tech and gadgets - pretty much the cheaper, shitter versions of the car. All to protect Holden. Because they cant make their cars any better. Why bother protecting them? They aren't making Australia much money anyway.
I love the new Range Rover sport & the 2012 one too!!!!
Your reviews are the best on this website. Witty without trying too hard with all the details covered and fantastic quality visuals.

What price did you get it?
"Time spent in this vehicle should give you a focused reason to make more money." Literally laughed out loud, that was quite witty!
Best review channel I've found (trust me, I've seen a LOT). Suscribed immediately.
Nice touch on the intro there

it would be good to see how this SUV compares with X5 or Cayenne.

discovery or sport?
I've a little question. Do you pay for the scratches you made while test driving?
I know the answer, insurance and gas are provided by manufacturer.
What car company made the Land Rover
Land Rover made the Range Rover SUV
Land Rover

Australia is being fucked anally when it comes to car prices. Hopefully that will change soon once Holden goes bust.
Merc Ury Minimum wage and average salary is also much higher in Australia.
