  • Female hornbill moms display a remarkable amount of faith and trust in their male partners. If the male doesn’t come back to their sealed-off nest with food, she and her chick will starve.

These birds are SO INTELLIGENT ❤️ Atlanta Zoo has a pair of hornbills, Zazou and Gumby. I asked one of the keepers what they ate, and he told us was about how they hide freeze- dried mice for Z + G to scavenge. I said I would love to see that. Well, Zazou, clever girl, had been standing about five feet away from me, watching us converse. When I said that, Zazou looked at me, and ran to the back of her enclosure and rummaged around. She brought back a mouse, and demonstrated how she would whack it on the ground. She wasn’t hungry, except for publicity, because for the next hour, she paraded that mouse up and down the front of the enclosure and posed for photos for her admiring (and somewhat repulsed) audience. She worked that crowd like Joan Crawford accepting an award, and it was one of the best performances I have ever seen.

For anyone who dosen't know the "Rhinoceros Hornbill Bird" is now on the endangered list which is so sad because this creature looks very intregaing and I became horrified to know it became this way because of plantations of oil palm trees.
And theirs alot of food we didn't know that has palm oil in it For Example : Tastykake products have Palm oil in them so if you are a person who likes Tastykake like me that didn't know about this information then you and I are unconsciously hurting the RHINOCEROS HORNELL BIRD!
Please be aware of what your eating and what's inside the food your eating! (That includes what types of soaps, shampoo, and condiments your using!) And make sure to spread the word if you want to!

WHEN the female of the Great Indian Hornbill is ready to lay
her eggs, she chooses a hole
in a tree in which she conceals
    herself. She then seals the
entrance with a mixture of her
    excreta and mud and woodbark,
    leaving only a small opening
    through which the male can
    feed her.
    Although a prisoner now, her-
eggs will be secure from snakes
    and marauding monkeys.
    Some weeks after the eggs
    have hatched mother Hornbill
breaks out and helps her mate
    feed their hungry brood.

Although I do agree with you. Although I believe hunting without at the bare minimum eating the animal killed for survival is fine. Without predators to keep the flock/ group maintained at a certain population. For instance wolf & bear hunting is essential to keeping the elk and moose populations from becoming extinct.
      What a beautiful bird tho
