This is really interesting and inspiring, thank you. Does it extend to the use of the blue notes as well? Could you the E minor blues scale ie add the Bb blue note to the E pentatonic over a track in A dorian? Hope that makes sense ;)
Thanks, you could include the blues notes however you should keep in mind how they relate to the chord, in the case of the Bb on the A minor chord this is b9 and so will have a very strong dissonance, stronger than b5. Doesn’t meant you can’t use it but it’s just good to be aware of when playing with it.
Thanks Paul..I am doing your improvisation course at the moment so I will try and incorporate a few of these ideas...still a beginner but loving your premium content ...so I figure the band would be in Cm if I'm playing alto in Am?

Hello, your videos are great. You are exploring many patterns. These patterns exist in indian classical music in form of RAGA system.
Thanks! That’s really interesting!

That’s right, Cm for guitar, piano, bass. Am for Alto, Dm for tenor
Enjoyable video. Perhaps you can call the E/A- Pentatonic an E Augmented Pentatonic since that b6 could be considered a +5.
Thanks Dan! Yeah, whichever label best represents the idea for you.
Great lesson but can you do a lesson on how to find the one a 2 5 1 ? Is it just how many # and flats there are?.. please reply Tom
Thanks, I’m not sure what you mean by you’re question. The key signature will help you work out the key of the song though.
