Scrolling through my subs and notice a new NESComplex vid and instantly my day gets better. Awesome video dude, thanks! I'm STILL playing my Beetle Adventure Racing! I cannot believe I missed that one.
Loved this video. Good enough review to be on tv for many to enjoy. Just had a virtual boy donated to me with 5 games. Had to search to see some up to date videos. Haven't played one of these in YEARS!!! So much awesomeness in this video it deserves many more views.
This made me so happy. I got the virtual boy for Christmas when it came out. I use to lay down and try balance it in my face so I didn't have to use the wire frame.
Such a good video!!!! Watched it a few times. Man you've gotten so great at this over the years! You dont put out many vids these days but what you do put out is excellent. So cool to see GirlfriendVs in your vid! You and Vintage got me hooked on there channel.
Im currently on the cusp of acquiring a VB from a local game shop and this is making me want one even more! There was a system in my parents closet ready to go for me for Christmas ‘95 and I changed my mind at the last minute for Donkey Kong Country 2 & Killer Instinct for the SNES. Any time I saw a demo unit in stores it was never on and working. So to this day, I’ve never played one. That should be changing soon!
Unfortunately can't make it to Portland this year. My wife could not get off from work. 100% going next year it's an awesome con. Maybe I'll make it to another con before then. Loving the podcast by the way - I listen to each episode but need to comment more - or maybe I'll get an audio question together :)
Indeed it has been a while but, I'm happy to see a new production. When I first discovered you it was like crack. I went on a NesComplex binge watching all your episodes at once.
I love Galactic Pinball was a ton of fun I think, my favorite Virtual Boy game. The only game on the system I would play even after my eyes or head started to hurt.Plus it has the Samus minigame which I love!! Nice to see you back make yet again another Great Video!
Its good to have ya back, hopefully the teaching hasn't kept you too busy and I hope we can look forward to some content a little more often as long as you have the free time to do so. I've never played a virtual boy before but despite its small library at least there are some titles that are definitely worth playing.
NESComplex I'm very touched that you remembered that it was me that sent it. Thank you. I meant every word. Also, I loved this video and hope that you are doing well.
Awesome video, good to see you back! I always wanted to know more about the Virtual Boy since it never got released here in Europe. Very interesting piece of technology in my opinion.
Oh man I really missed you and your videos, it's sad that you don't have that much time, but at least you make a video once in a while keep it up! awesome video! :-)
Nice editing, you really put a lot of effort into your videos. There are not really many good Virtual Boy videos out there that´s also why I put a "beginners guide" online 2 days ago.
I’ve probably played through warioland 20 times. I made my own power supply and set it up so I could lay down on the couch and play it. It was connected to the table so the weight wasn’t on my face.still love that thing.
YES!!!!! My favorite channel makes a new video on a amazing and interesting subject and hits it out of the park and I love my Virtual Boy I got it for 10 bucks and I can't wait for your next video and is your Nintendo power series still a thing? and your video quality is even better than before you are at a 100/10 now keep it up!!!!
I liked the VirtualBoy, in fact I pre-ordered it and enjoyed it on day one and bought a second unit many years later after it was discontinued and Blockbuster Video was selling their rental units for like about 30 to $50 and still have my two units with a slew of games unfortunately both of my units are now broken and I need to find a repair center that can properly fix them so I can go back to using it again cuz I actually miss playing it
This was brilliant. Excellent work, my friend. Admittedly, the VB is a console I know very little about, so I learnt a lot here - namely, that I don't want a VB :-)
NESComplex On an entirely different and unrelated note... I know you're a fan of Oasis, so hopefully you'll enjoy the work of this awesome group also: play.google.com/store/music/album/The_Stone_Roses_The_Stone_Roses?id=B6c4hk7a5weplcq46k3dz4ttwfu I mention this only as the album is on sale on the google play store this week. I'm not sure if it's UK only, though?
A thoughtful examination of the Virtual Boy that isn't completely negative?!?! AWESOME!!! Personally, I have never played one of these and never bothered to even try and finding out what a huge flop it became, but over the years I've grown curious about it and wouldn't mind giving it a try sometime. This was just a great video and I was very thankful for the fair and forgiving analysis.
I got my very first Virtual Boy at yard sale for free back in 2013 and it didn’t have the visor, shade, the stand, adapter, and any games with it, just the headset with the controller. I started ordering the parts for it and I got Wario Land for it with Mario’s Tennis. I just need to find the other 11 games for it besides Jack Bros. since it is rare and expensive.
I actually had a VB instore display from a store that they were about to destroy because the store was closing! And so they gave it to me with all the games they had. Was very lucky that day!
Awesome video chris! I've been looking forward to this video since we were on the cartridge club. I actually was a day 1 adopter of the console and spent pretty much my life savings at the time on it. This was a huge bummer for me when it flopped and i couldn't afford an N64 when that came out because i bought this. I enjoyed quite a few of the games on it especially wario land which really is the best game on the console, also its prob my fav wario land game. I used to play it so much to the point where i couldn't see the color red properly anymore. My eyes eventually corrected in high school but for a good 5 years after playing it daily my vision had become pretty bad. Also the VB had a great controller i always thought, really comfortable and unique.
Excellent video! If one thing is for sure, it shows just how polarizing the Virtual Boy library is. Wario Land aside, if I were to ask the average gamer what games for it are the best, few would actually consistently rank that high. Red Alarm is my favorite game and Teleroboxer is up there for me as well, but they placed pretty low on your list, for example. Great to see positive mention about Galactic Pinball as well, but as another example I haven't seen too many raving about it which is kind of a shame. That's the Virtual Boy for you, I guess, haha. Just polarizing.
I don't get how Teleroboxer is considered too repetitive as the game demands much more skill than the NES and SNES Punch-Out!! games with more challenging opponent A.I. (moreso when you defeat the "hidden" 8th boxer) and has more complexity to its controls. Red Alarm is another good one as well, but I can see your beef with that one since the visuals take a little getting used to; it's kinda similar to my beef with the handling of Samus's wall jump mechanics in Super Metroid, which I've had a much harder time dealing with compared to Red Alarm's visuals. Good video overall and I find the Virtual Boy to be the most underrated console of all-time. The library has much more interesting exclusives than any of the current-gen consoles (sans Wii U & 3DS) and has decent ratio of quality games; if I were to do a top consoles list, this would definitely rank above the Sony PS4 and Xbox One with their mostly uninspired games selection (which the vast majority can be legally played on PC). There are still unreleased Virtual Boy games out there such as Dragon Hopper (an overhead action-RPG platformer done by Intelligent Systems) and Zero Racers (vector F-Zero) that deserve to be leaked and playable to the public.
I really enjoy your videos, thank you :D I was in Akihabara today and there was a new virtual boy for 22000yen (about $220). I was thinking about getting it but decided not to, then I came home and saw your video in my sub box XD
Hm, that was pretty good. The production quality was certainly better than my VB videos. I was a bit dissappointed though that you seem to have most of the AVGN-type opinions like "puzzle games shouldn't be on VB", "Red Alarm looks weird" and so on. At least you didn't outright claim it gives headaches. Also you really should get Bound High for a taste of really great 3D effects.
Great review. You didn't have much to work with. Nintendo really laid a dud with this one. Great job with the review and shedding some light on the Virtual boy for us all.
NESComplex I agree any Nintendo System at least at that time that had a good Mario game the system sold like hot cakes. Nintendo had a great and neat idea just didn't take the time and love to make it a complete package that was good.
Wooooo finally a new video! It was worth the wait, great retrospective :-)
Thanks Glenn! I appreciate it!
NESComplex Are we going to see "top 20 NES games". I am not trying to rush you.
I always come back hoping for a new video but satisfied to watch an old one.
I dig how she instantly goes to this particular symptom @ 2:24.
No build up at all, just beautiful.
I remember an endcap at Target full of virtual boys back in the day for $29.99. wish I bought one back then
With what they go for now, that would be a nice little profit

Scrolling through my subs and notice a new NESComplex vid and instantly my day gets better. Awesome video dude, thanks!

I'm already 40% on the next Old Game Look Forers… so look for that soon
Loved this video. Good enough review to be on tv for many to enjoy.
Just had a virtual boy donated to me with 5 games. Had to search to see some up to date videos. Haven't played one of these in YEARS!!!
So much awesomeness in this video it deserves many more views.
Great video! The virtual boy infomercial with girlfriend from
GirlfriendVS was brilliant!
I was so happy to work with them… stellar talents and she has an amazing voice!
I remember seeing a pile of these on clearance at Kmart for $10 and thinking "Who would want one of those?" Now I want one of them. LOL!
$10.... OMG That would've been amazing!
Great work on this. The effort shows and it's fun to watch!
Thanks Ryan… my videos are rare, but when i make em i make em with heart!
This made me so happy. I got the virtual boy for Christmas when it came out. I use to lay down and try balance it in my face so I didn't have to use the wire frame.
Such an awesome video man! The wait was totally worth it :) loved the cameos.
Thanks bro…:)
Awesome - he's back!
Such a good video!!!! Watched it a few times. Man you've gotten so great at this over the years! You dont put out many vids these days but what you do put out is excellent.
So cool to see GirlfriendVs in your vid! You and Vintage got me hooked on there channel.
I wish I could put them out with more regularity :(
Cool vid, 10/10... fun for the whole family!!
thanks. that's the goal.
Awesome job complex! Really enjoyed the video and the vboy commercial had me laughing pretty hard.
Thanks… I'm glad i made you laugh… its always a secondary goal for me...
Underrated video
not really. this video is way too negative...
Back with a BANG !! Great video Chris. You are truly a champaign supernova in the sky xxxx
Awesome! I love me some Oasis! …gonna live forever!
Well done my friend! I still have my Virtual Boy as well. Great memories!
Im currently on the cusp of acquiring a VB from a local game shop and this is making me want one even more! Awesome video! Always look forward to your content. I just picked up a virtual boy and looking forward to exploring the library.
Awesome!!! Are you coming to Portland this year?
Unfortunately can't make it to Portland this year. My wife could not get off from work. 100% going next year it's an awesome con. Maybe I'll make it to another con before then. Loving the podcast by the way - I listen to each episode but need to comment more - or maybe I'll get an audio question together :)
We're recording the Halloween episode tonight…. send me a question and we'll answer it for sure...
That would be great! I sent a question via email. I hope you guys get to it! :)
Awsome! Welcome back. Your my favorite youtuber :)

Hope in the humanity restored! 👍
She turned me into a newt… I got better
Indeed it has been a while but, I'm happy to see a new production. When I first discovered you it was like crack. I went on a NesComplex binge watching all your episodes at once.
I love Galactic Pinball was a ton of fun I think, my favorite Virtual Boy game. The only game on the system I would play even after my eyes or head started to hurt.Plus it has the Samus minigame which I love!!
Nice to see you back make yet again another Great Video!
Thank you Jim! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Glad you're back on the saddle! Lol. Great perspective about the virtual boy.
Thanks! Yes I have a few videos in process, but knowing me that could mean anything...
Oh no. Lol
Great video. Welcome back. Please don't leave again!
i never left… i just put out videos infrequently and put in ridiculous effort.
Top-notch as always, sir!!! I only have 2 games left to finish my set, so I was very happy to see this video! Keep up the great work!
Awesome video!! Your retrospective videos are awesome.. all your vids are awesome!!
no… you are awesome!
Always great to see your videos. In fact, I was thinking about your awesome Super Metroid review just yesterday.
Ha. Love the cameos too.
thanks… it's fun to work with friends on videos...
Its good to have ya back, hopefully the teaching hasn't kept you too busy and I hope we can look forward to some content a little more often as long as you have the free time to do so. I've never played a virtual boy before but despite its small library at least there are some titles that are definitely worth playing.
i have no idea how often i can put out videos, but i'm trying
Wow! So happy to se another of your awesome videos.
Thank you! and thank you for that letter you sent me a while ago! It meant a lot to me. I hope you're doing well my friend!

Awesome video, good to see you back!
I always wanted to know more about the Virtual Boy since it never got released here in Europe.
Very interesting piece of technology in my opinion.
Thanks... yes it's pretty cool... you should definitely try it out if you get the chance
Oh man I really missed you and your videos, it's sad that you don't have that much time, but at least you make a video once in a while keep it up! awesome video! :-)
I'll try :)
Nice editing, you really put a lot of effort into your videos. There are not really many good Virtual Boy videos out there that´s also why I put a "beginners guide" online 2 days ago.
Thanks… i try :)

Glad to see you back. If you like to make videos and have the time please keep them coming.
there will be moar
Very nice (and fun!) video!
I have a Virtual Boy too! With 9 games (two versions of Red Alarm).
I’ve probably played through warioland 20 times. I made my own power supply and set it up so I could lay down on the couch and play it. It was connected to the table so the weight wasn’t on my face.still love that thing.
I love this video! Can't wait to see more like this.
Holy crap a new nes complex video! Sweeeeeeeeeeet!
Thank you!
the heavens have parted and NESComplex has released a new video!!! Bless you
Hahaha.... Thank you
Awesome episode. Mario Clash is fun indeed.
10 bucks! awesome…. yes NPTM is a thing! Those videos are waaaaaaaay easier to make, too. i hope to get back into that soon
I remember attempting to play the Virtual Boy at a Best Buy, but was too short to see anything!
Ele voltou! Great video buddy!
Thanks Mr. Brazucagamer sir
Cool! I've never had much interest in the Virtual Boy, but it's nice to know what I'm missing out on :)
It's certainly not for everyone
I liked the VirtualBoy, in fact I pre-ordered it and enjoyed it on day one and bought a second unit many years later after it was discontinued and Blockbuster Video was selling their rental units for like about 30 to $50 and still have my two units with a slew of games unfortunately both of my units are now broken and I need to find a repair center that can properly fix them so I can go back to using it again cuz I actually miss playing it
I actually liked Red Alarm. Had a blast playing it at the kiosk at my local Target.
Always enjoy your videos, glad that u made a new one... And a great one at that
Thanks!
This was brilliant. Excellent work, my friend. Admittedly, the VB is a console I know very little about, so I learnt a lot here - namely, that I don't want a VB :-)
lol
NESComplex On an entirely different and unrelated note... I know you're a fan of Oasis, so hopefully you'll enjoy the work of this awesome group also: play.google.com/store/music/album/The_Stone_Roses_The_Stone_Roses?id=B6c4hk7a5weplcq46k3dz4ttwfu
I mention this only as the album is on sale on the google play store this week.
Thank you for the very thoughtful comment! A++++
Worth the wait! Good job bro.
Thanks
Oh hey welcome back! I knew you would come around someday.
Thanks… time to go back into hibernation
NESComplex what! I want to see more Nintendo power time machine
That’s awesome. I’m jealous
It was actually playable and never fell over
Great video! Good to see a new upload.
occasionally the the jovian planets align and a new video comes out
Awesome video chris!
That is a sad story my friend… but even with the n64 you would have been waiting for 6 months for a new game… drought
Wow! Amazing video! The editing is fantastic! I definitely need to take some tips :-)
I spend a lot of time editing… the end result is cool, but the process is why i make videos so infrequently
That is funny… different strokes for different folks… to be fair though all the games made my top 20
NESComplex Bro there are more than 20 games for VBoy? I didn't even realize that... wait I think you were being sarcastic
Great video! Now I really wish my Virtual Boy worked.
Look into baking the sensors… search it on YT… it works!!!
I don't think I'll collect this system..though its great to see it covered.
Great video , nice to see you back , i really want a virtual boy but they are getting so pricey
yes they're getting kinda ridiculous
Well worth the wait.
See you at Portland!
Word to your mother! Portland here we come!
Upvoted for "18 holes on Mars". I loved my VB, liked that Golf was really 3D, but red red red RED
I was just about to check your channel the other day if i missed anything then this appered. WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? missed you (:
Thanks for missing me… where have i been? One word: Women!!!
What’s the name of the song you used for number 14 and 12?
I don't get how Teleroboxer is considered too repetitive as the game demands much more skill than the NES and SNES Punch-Out!! games with more challenging opponent A.I. (moreso when you defeat the "hidden" 8th boxer) and has more complexity to its controls. There are still unreleased Virtual Boy games out there such as Dragon Hopper (an overhead action-RPG platformer done by Intelligent Systems) and Zero Racers (vector F-Zero) that deserve to be leaked and playable to the public.
I only got to play the Virtual Boy once. A kid brought it to daycare one day. Though he didn't let us play with it much.
HE LIVES!!! Missed you Complex
Bought one when it was marked down to like 13 bucks at a Walmart back in the day. Wish I still had it considering how expensive they are now!
I really enjoy your videos, thank you :D
I was in Akihabara today and there was a new virtual boy for 22000yen (about $220). I was thinking about getting it but decided not to, then I came home and saw your video in my sub box XD
coincidence? that's awesome
Welcome back!! It's been a while. :-)
If you think 7 months is a while… lol
Yes, 7 months is a while for me. I was starting to develop a... complex... ahem, yeah. Sorry. lol. :-)
Galactic pinball was amazing, spent many hours in playing it as a kid. I had pinball and tennis 😂
Thanks again for letting me use the footage… Bound high looks really fun! I love your review on it!
Glad to see you ain't dead.
no I'm dead
bound high is really good. space squash is worth importing too. great vid thanks
Great review. You didn't have much to work with. Nintendo really laid a dud with this one. Great job with the review and shedding some light on the Virtual boy for us all.
Thanks… i agree… i wish it had gotten a proper mario game and a bit more love… it could've been fantastic
NESComplex I agree any Nintendo System at least at that time that had a good Mario game the system sold like hot cakes. Nintendo had a great and neat idea just didn't take the time and love to make it a complete package that was good.
I love the video thanks for uploading it, please make more videos.
