    How exactly did you scribe the line on the end piece to get it to be flush with the side stringer? Did you just hold the pencil flush to the stringer and use it to draw the necessary angled line to cut on the miter saw? This is at the :52 mark

    • @MrYoucandoityourself

      I would use a pin nailer 23 gauge

    • @akmc6180
      @akmc6180 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrYoucandoityourself We plan to install strand woven bamboo on the stairs too using the floor material plus stair nose, not the solid one-piece stair tread. Would 23 gauge pin nailer be strong enough to hold? Should I also use 23 gauge pin nailer for the corner where the miter joint of stair nose is? Manufacture recommended pneumatic finish nailer or 7d or 8d hand nails to top nail the first 1-2 rows when installing floor. So I assume we can top nail the stair tread and stair nose too after putting on the glue, but I don't think it'll look good with the nail holes even after we fill them. I saw another video of yours where a brad nailer is used for the first 1-2 rows. Thanks for your advice.

    • @MrYoucandoityourself

      If you buy floor and stair nose made by manufacturers - they ALWAYS MUCH. If you order stair nose as additional material to your hardwood - they can have a little difference in the color (not too much!).

    • @TheWaldorfj
      @TheWaldorfj 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrYoucandoityourself Actually, the majority of manufacturers outsource their mouldings to other companies so it is quite common for a nosing or moulding to be a little off in color, milling or finish. It's as close as you'll get though.

      Agreed, if its hard wood then must be a laminate, solid timber would be consistent in the colour after cutting, and ita clearly to flexible to be solid. Nice installation none the less

    • @Order-in-Chaos
      @Order-in-Chaos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When you hear what I have to say you won't be calling me friend any longer... First "$11 ml" is actually read as $11 milliliter... I guess you mean 11 Million Dollars. Seriously $11MM?! On what planet? Unless the buyers are from stupid town and found the money by the river. You're using 3/4" plywood with a 1/32" veneer for treads! On top of another layer of CDX! I have never ever seen this done before. Drop your keys on the tread and you'll see the cheap plywood right through... Cheap is cheap no matter how much you were duped to pay for it.

    Please be safe. I think Vinyl, Laminate, and hardwood are all dangerous on stairs. I know carpets are dirty. I think using a easily replaceable carpet runner may be the best way to go. You only have to fall down from a slippery stairs once to realize carpet is the safest option. Since permanent carpet is too hard to replace therefore I recommend a runner option.

  • @mattywho8485
    @mattywho8485 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's not "Hardwood Flooring" it's a bunch of composite garbage held together with construction adhesive. But then again, I guess it matches all the other crap that houses are made out of today.

    Wrong!!! Always tread first then, risers. Work from bottom up.

      It's only your opinion.

    • @eats76
      @eats76 ปีที่แล้ว

      @MrYoucandoityourself it's not my opinion. If you start from the bottom each riser helps lock in the next tread all the way up. It's a pure fact. Not to mention, with any expansion or contraction the riser will cover that gap in the seam. Plus, you add brad nails to that tread that the riser will also cover.

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eats76 I don't like stepping on the new stair tread and walking up and down over just made staircase. But you do what you are doing. My rules are - don't walk over the new stairs the next 12 hours after installation. Thanks!

    I just removed carpet from my stairs to find the open-sided landing and bottom step are plywood and stick out over the risers. Any ideas how to accomplish this over the plywood?
