Uh.... Insta camera for no battery problems, good external recorder + small mic + deadcat so it doesn't blow wind into mic and problem solved. come on, who in 2022 is still using camera audio :P this just doesn't make sense
hi, I have had similar issues with getting a mic setup for my helmet. I use DJI Action camera which you have to remove the access door to get to the usb-c port, plug in an adapter, use another plug adapter taking it from a 3 section jack to a 2 section jack that is now extending rearward toward the front of your helmet by almost 3"... and making it very unworkable. However, I did finally find a mic for the action camera that is a direct usb-c plug in. Works great!!! just open the access door, plug it in, and all the adapters are gone. Very happy that I found this solution.
Sena has came a long way. I still have the Sena 10A. Really want a camera. Just no cash for things like that. Struggling a little. Living the dream. Rock on Jess.
The bands separate the circuits, or wires.it’s a thin insulator that keeps them from contacting and shorting. One band indicates a positive and a ground. Mono speakers usually have the band closer to the end. A microphone plug should have the band closer to base than the tip. Two wires is all a microphone needs. As they typically only use one channel. The rest of the wires would be grounded if you use an adapter. Two bands separates the plug into three contacts, they are typically stereo plugs. Left, right, and ground. It’s very rare to find a mono speaker and microphone version but they can be identified by having different bands. The stereo speaker will have two bands closer to the tip. Mono speaker with microphone will have one band close to the top and one closer to the base. Three bands or four contacts would likely be left, right and a single wire microphone with a ground. Ground is always the contact closest to the base of the plug. Typically there is no issue with the ground contacting extra unused contacts or wires. Or empty contacts touching the ground. A stereo with microphone to a microphone can cause issues as the two speaker contacts may be shorter together which would result in low sound, typically. They come on 1/16, 1/8, and 1/4 sizes, typically. 1/8 is most common. With that, you are now an expert on phone connectors.
I think the 2nd audio setup sounded much better. I do not know why audio is such voodoo. I started using just a voice recorder , but now I feel turning stuff on is a pain. And I'm just playing around. Nothing serious like you. What ever camera you were using in the house was great. Thanks for sharing with us, I appreciate all the time you take for us.
I bought one of those. Sold it at a loss cause audio quality was horrible not to mention editing that footage was a bit more difficult. Hope you have better luck with yours. When mounting the camera I use sugru glue. Stuff will hold forever and never falls off like those 3m pads do. The phone mount your using has no vibration dampener or does it? May break your phone camera if it vibrates too much. Okay I’m out lol. Take care ride safe
I too thought the sound was good. I think searching for the perfect sound will be difficult, but in all honesty, I like the fact there was a bit of background noise as it made me/us feel like we were riding along with you as opposed to have a perfect sound which could have been created in a studio and dubbed over.
Everyone talks about Rockform on TH-cam... but still not sticking anything on my phone or using a case to hold it. I got a holder that holds the phone fine, just tighten with a thumb screw so it stays firm... mounted on a ram mount ball... and has built in wireless charging. Works great, and was like $20 and don't have to worry about my phone battery or wires to plug in or anything.
I'm a new motovlogger and I been struggling with the very same problems. first with a GoPro that I borrowed from my brother in law and now trying to find audio solutions with a Insta360 one X2. I really is frustrating! Keep it up!
I have also been trying various mike setups. I get a lot of wind noise because it is always windy here in Iowa. Audio is pretty good on calm days, but on says when the wind is doing 25 mph and up it is very noisy, especially in crosswinds. We have been clocking winds up to 60-70 mph (Gusts) with steady winds of 25-30 mph a lot lately. Thanks for all you videos.
I’m reaching out because my company puts on Ohio Bike Week, a huge rally in Sandusky,Ohio. If you weren’t busy I’d love to have you out to experience it and meet you/show you around! Awesome rally in the state of Ohio! The party is at Mad River Harley-Davidson!
That phone mount and case are cool- I've never used my phone while on the bike, and I hate using it for GPS, because it just obliterates the battery. As far as the audio, at low speeds your sound is fine; at highway speeds you may not ever completely get rid of the wind noise short of going to a totally separate audio recorder with a really good external mic and editing them together. But even with the wind noise at highway speeds, your voice is totally audible, and there's no problem understanding you. It's a motovlog- don't stress out too much about a little wind and engine noise. If you run into sections where your voice audio is unintelligible and you really wanted to get an important point across, voice over it and say so. We understand. Thanks for working so hard to fine tune your setup; your videos are awesome, and we enjoy them!
I understand your frustration with the audio, I have been through the same stuff. Here’s what I did and it resulted in the best audio I’ve ever had….and it was cheap! I bought a set of wired Apple earbuds, then I cut off the right earbud and taped up the end of the wire. The left earbud also has the button inline that controls the volume and allows you to answer/end calls. I bought a pack of craft fur sheets from Hobby Lobby, it’s imitation fur….faux fur. I took the thickest sheet of fur and cut a tiny rectangle off of it about 1 inch x 1-1/2 inches. Then I wrapped the tiny rectangle of fur around the volume button (the microphone is sealed inside this button) so it would act as a dead-cat to keep the wind noise out. I could have also removed the left earbud and only have a wire with the tiny microphone, but I use the left earbud when I’m using my map on my phone so I can hear the directions. Anyhow, this set up work’s phenomenally! It works (and sounds) better than ANY of my multiple microphones…including the Rode Microphones I have! I have no idea why Apple uses such an amazing microphone in these earbuds and only charges $29 for them…..because the audio from that tiny microphone sounds like it’s in the $300 price range! This set up if very very tiny and it hides very well inside of my helmet…I just have to be careful not to mount it directly in front of my mouth because it picks up every breath I take. I mount it beside my left cheek and I can’t feel it whatsoever. Anyhow, I hope this gives you another idea to try…. Good luck and God bless! Sincerely, Donnie Miller (Standing Goats Rescue)
So sorry about all your difficulties. This is part of why I decided not to start a TH-cam channel. 😁 You're working with some weird sound constraints--water, space restrictions, strong wind... You really show why your craft deserves so much respect. Also, I didn't realize right away that the long flicky thing was a cat tail. I thought you had a snek friend.
Just ordered this microphone that works with all 3.5mm microphone plug-ins. Can plug directly into the back of the Gopro media mod without the microphone adapter. Best part is after being mounted you can move the microphone to a desired location as the microphone is on an adjustable arm.
And so it goes. Thanks for sharing a bit of behind the scenes. And thanks for pushing to get the very best quality you can. It does make a difference in watching the videos and it is appreciated!
Thank you so much for posting! I for one like all your videos, even ones that are out of the ordinary. And, as a matter of normal fact, I love it when fellow Moto/Bicycle Vloggers show their text setup videos!❤❤
Bit the bullet and just ordered the Rokform mount and case. 25% off is legit - THANK YOU. As always, appreciate your videos and product feedback. Ride Safe!
Using 2 pieces of 3M tape doesn’t really help much. It just makes it stand off the helmet that much more. If you want it to stay, use some 3M adhesive promoter. I use it every time I have to use 3M for a project. I usually do 3-4 coats then stick it on. It will never come off unless you want it to.
I second this!!!! I have been working in sign shops for over 30 years..... 3m adhesion promoter and prepping the surfaces with alcohol!!!! doubling up may actually cause a weak spot! but .. regardless looks like a strong setup!
Stacking can actually weaken the bound as they are not meant to adhere to each other. Promoter is the way to go with any adhesive that uses it. I’ve CA glued a brick to a wall that you can stand on, the trick is to use a good quality promoter. Also, it usually makes the adhesive set up faster as well.
Love your videos!!!!!! The black lines are for stereo in puts. The adaptor you are using will not help. The sound you are hearing is wind noise. Try putting a little more foam around the mic or moving the mic around. You can also use a fan if it is strong enough to simulate the wind on the road for testing it out.
Gopro hero 8 troubleshooting if you haven't already. Try buying a completely new battery. Make sure SD card is exactly what goprp recommend. Maybe go Mediamod. Gopro hero 9 is much reliable granted what I mentioned about GP8 has been done also. Purple panda while over priced, I've had great quality and no issues. Maybe replace the GP8 with a GP10 as last resort. Good luck
I just got the Insta360 One X2 and I am loving it. I purchased it for my channel to add Moto Vloging to it. Its awesome. Love it and its awesome, However I do not see me attaching it to my helmet. With 360 you will not need to.
The Rurock helmetts are not know for being very quiet. They often get dinged for how noisy they are. That being said, if it came with a chin curtain, make sure that is installed and it may make things a bit quieter. I normally don't ride with a chin curtain because I find it makes the helmet a bit hotter and I am in south Texas. I hope that helps.
Ruroc's do come with a chin skirt. It's a bit of fabric, rather than a mesh or net, and extends a little further in than most. Mine just barely tickles my chin!
Another vote for Sugru moldable glue. 3 years now and the mount for my helmet camera is still rock solid. easier and it point exactly where I want it without getting in the way. I know what you are doing is just fine, just another option. I've had those 3M pads let go before.
And another possible suggestion, for my work helmet with NODS up front (I'm a SWAT medic), I use a small pouch with counter balance weights on the very back of the helmet that really makes a difference with the heavy front weight. Doesnt take up too much room, and they come in black!
2 stickers actually weakens it. It only adds a failure point with it having 3 stick points instead of 2. Imagine the mustard between the bologna instead of the bread, it just slides off.
@@ChadLand011 The two adhesives pretty much make a permanent bond between themselves. The only drawback to stacking the pads, is adding a flex joint. You heard her say the camera is vibrating a lot? The stacked pads is one reason, exacerbated by the boom arm of the mount.
A. You’re super hard on yourself. B. You can do things off camera and then explain how you did it so you don’t feel time pressure. C. Appreciate that you are secure enough to show us the process, even if it’s not perfect….but it doesn’t have to be!!! So thanks for sharing your setup with us! D. You need a fuzzy thingy over the mic, E. You can always add commentary in post…. My unsolicited $0.02
Part of my job in the Air Force was working/modifying pilots flying gear. Every pilot would have a custom poured helmet for their heads only. We'd basically stripped government issue pilots down to bare shells, make custom ear pads with the audio inside the foam. Everything wrapped in deerskin leather, I loved pouring new helmets and never had a single pilot that was not " I can't believe what I've been missing!" That's a awesome looking helmet Jess. I'm not familiar with go pros and audio stuff for helmets. But I do enjoy watching you just climbing and climbing up the task you set in front of yourself with what you do here. Your videos are always fun, I just enjoyed the best 16 Oz. Coors I've had in awhile! Your video on the lowrider st got me in the want a new bike mode! I wish I could afford one, im just lucky to be on one at all. You did a review of the softail standard fxst I watched. I put a soundbar on mine when I got it in 2020, a windshield, new seat and tall backrest on, nothing fancy but the 107 is fast on that light frame. I miss my electraglide at times and my first bike, a 2006 Heritage off the floor. But it's all good and as it should be. You coming through Eureka Springs this summer??? 🙏
I’ve been using a GoPro hero 10 with the media mod and keeping no battery inside of it, running a USB-C cable from the GoPro into my pocket where I have a 26,000 mA hour battery and I have a purple panda taped up inside my helmet. This has completely solved my audio issues
Dropping the old camera into the tin tub (the sound!) was great! It's those tiny little tid bits that keeps me coming back! I sometimes expect you to say, "Action!". Okay, you're the director, producer and action Hero! Busy girl! Thanks, Jess!!
I’m new to a GoPro 8. I received one for a service gift from my employer. I’ve only done one real recording session with it. I had it set for the highest quality. It broke my hour long video up into roughly 12 minute segments that I cannot seem to splice together in one contiguous video feed. When I do splice it all together it skips about every 15 seconds throughout the whole video making it shorter.
Hey Jess! I'm torn between an indian Rogue Scout (22 and new) or a 2018 triumph speedmaster with 8k miles from a random dealer. The indian rogue has been on order a month and no idea when it will be delivered so I'm antsy and want to ride. Ive had my license for 6 years but this is my first bike. Thank you!
I thought the audio was clear and the video resolution very good. Hopefully all this equipment works out for the best for you. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
My partner is in audiovisual recording, and I know she is ultra-thorough in her testing of her setup. It sounds like she met her match in you. Good production values are always a plus, and they earn respect. Thank you for your effort.
Just watched this. Couldn’t agree more with your GoPro comments. I’m new to action cameras myself and really like insta360 cameras. Personally I thought your audio sounded good. Looking forward to seeing your current setup. I really enjoy these equipment videos
I doubled up on the tape to the helmet and it fell off on the way to an event. I ended up using expoxy that the HD dealer had. It works but not pretty.. have you thought about using the Ruroc camera mount itself?? I have one but didn’t put it on yet. A bit cleaner than the arm. Thoughts? Btw both audio were pretty good, but yeah the second is cleaner with background noise.
If all else fails, use a portable audio recorder and rec the audio separately. Although, to be honest, the first audio setup was better than the second, albeit a bit tinny. That can be fixed in post, though.
I just got my insta360 RS Twin this week, ready for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride but haven't had time yet to hook up to my bike. I noticed in the Insta360 Studio under Media Processing\True Audio there's a noise reduction feature. Not sure what that exactly does but maybe that's what we're looking for?
That Insta360 action camera looks awesome! I had no idea they had a modular style cameras like that and I think it's a brilliant idea! That being said however, there's a few things to note about the GoPro's that many people may not realize which drastically reduces the number of audio-related issues and failures. 1. When using the audio plug-in adapter, do NOT use the instant record button (Blockhead mentions this in his Atlas 4.0 review video). Rather instead, ALWAYS power on the camera FIRST, then press the record button. This greatly reduces the audio issues or the camera not recognizing that the audio adapter is connected. 2. After each time using the GoPro and after copying your footage onto your computer/laptop/HDD, ALWAYS format the MicroSD card on the GoPro BEFORE recording ANY new video. This resets the MicroSD card and will avoid you getting random I/O errors or record errors after 10-20 minutes of recording then suddenly losing video or having it corrupted. 3. Another great tip that Blockhead also mentioned, when starting a new recording session, take a 5-second 'test' clip and record/playback to verify audio is working properly. By following these 3 quick steps each and every time you use a GoPro, this will DRASTICALLY reduce the number of audio related issues and failures. Again nothing is perfect and of course there's no guarantee however it's all about minimizing the risk of having any potential issues. I hope this helps someone as these quick tips have worked great for me so far! Enjoy and thanks Jess for another great video!
Good info but totally unacceptable. If you had to do that for reliable audio/video on any phone that phone would get toasted in the media. Go-Pro is riding on it's name and the ride will come to a quick end if they don't solve ALL issues in the next model release.
I also was informed, by a real Go Pro guy, that if you are using an external mic, to turn on power first--then record. "Instant record" works fine with the internal mic. Apparently, there is some conflict with the programming trying to decide which mic to use, since it is set up to only run the internal mic. I also always format the SD card after transferring all the video, out of habit from using digital SLR cameras.
I got myself a brand new helmet it a Scorpion Exo T1200 mainstay white Touring I added gopro hero5 black and housing holds 📷 is a Ulanzi and chin mount I use sugru moldable glue & added Cardo packtalk bold black and I added a Steel Mate helmet light too! Mrs Jess
I feel you on the quality issues it broke me… I tried to get some videos going but trying to get things to work is stressful and I still have popcorn on my videos over 20mph…
I feel you. I'm currently on the phone with GoPro support to get yet another replacement Media Mod. This is the second time I've had the 3.5mm mic port fail. I seem to get nothing but intermittent popping and mute audio no matter what mic I use or what software settings on the cameras. So frustrating! There is a huge opportunity for someone to solve the action camera/helmet audio problem. As far as I can tell, there are currently no good solutions out there. Everything is complex/expensive/unreliable. The only way I've found to get decent audio is with a standalone digital audio recorder, but then you have the hassle of trying to sync in post, and the hassle of trying to start/stop yet another device and create sync points. Depending on the type of riding you are trying to capture, this can be difficult to impossible. Ugh!
I think the first audio test was fine, but I would add a deadcat to your mic to minimize wind noise. The second test was much more muffled. I would not choose that mic
The single black ring on the one mic indicates a mono mic. 2 rings are stereo, and 3 rings are 2 way communication (rather than just input like a microphone, the 3 rings are input and output). You should try the single ring mic - it'll probably sound OK, and it's not like you're recording music while you're on your motorcycle. Good luck!
Every issue I have ever had with GoPro. Has come down to the SD card being used. I started using High end expensive cards. Plus, I stopped formatting the cards with the GoPro. Just me, hopefully this Insta 360 works out for you... I wish sony would make the FDR-X3000 flat. I love that camera.
I feel your pain. Ever since upgrading to the Hero 7 and the audio adaptor I've struggled to get good audio without the crackling and popping. Tried every brand mic and settings and still terrible audio. Back to the Hero 3 & 4 where you don't need the adaptor. Would think by now these manufacturers would make it easy!
Did you use the same type of mic that you usually use on the GoPro? Maybe that could be affecting the audio. Also, if the GoPro adapter fits onto the Insta360, it could possibly help improve the audio. And there's always the option for an external recorder for better audio, but that would just add more bulk to your setup.
No, this is a new mic because I needed a cord to reach the adapter. But I tested this new mic with the gopro after editing this video and it sounded great! haha
Audio sounded fine. I have had my rokform bar mount for about 3 years. And i love that think. But its faded to a real rich purple look, but my scooter sits outside in the elements. Great vid, keep em coming
That is a bummer but I do like the new red helmet definitely and I’m sure you’ll figure it out glad the weather is better and your able to get out and enjoy 😊
TASCAM DR-10L with a Sennheiser MKE 2-EW Gold is the dream audio setup if you are willing to deal with syncing up audio in post. You might even find that Sennheiser MKE 2-EW Gold working much better with the Insta. I have gone through quite the trial and error with mics and it’s a brutally frustrating process.
All I've ever wanted is to be able to take my helmet off and not be attached to a bunch or cables and batteries lol. Maybe one day in the future I'll resort to external audio. But I wish I didn't have to! Too bad things just don't work they way they're supposed to haha
@@HerTwoWheels I agree. Maybe just try the better mic into the insta, you might be surprised at how good the insta handles audio with a more premium mic. It sucks to spend that kind of money on a mic but mine has held up well since 12/18/20 (just looked up when I bought it). I will never go back to less of a mic for motovlogs even though the mic costs just as much as a camera lol.
When 90 percent of people are watching on their phones all that really matters is the audio and video match up and you don't sound underwater. Every creator I have ever watched I feel like eventually gets caught up in this quality issue and at least for me it all sounds the same. Just use whatever is reliable.
Yay - the red is back!! Great video, I thought the audio at the end sounded just fine. Definitely didn’t pick up the wind noise like the first setup. As popular as motorcycle riding, and motovlogging specifically, is getting there are bound to be new products and enhancements coming out more frequently. Keep the vids coming!
I don’t need a new helmet, I really don’t need a new one… But the Ruroc ones are so cool! My husband has the previous atlas model and I’m so jealous! They’re coming our with a Wonder Woman livery this week… might check it out 😅 thanks for the video Jess!
With the mic, 1 line is for mono audio, 2 is the separator for stereo, so you have left and right recording. Definitely do not use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor as movement in that can cause static. I'm in the process of trailing a few lavalier mics, and have found depending on the mic, placement in your helmet has a lot to do with it.
I use a cheap gaming mic (Amazon has hundreds of them), and a cat's butt for the wind. Plugs right into the Go-Pro Media Mod. The only issue I had, was the mic has a rather stiff boom (adjustable headset style). I ran the boom between the Ruroc chin skirt and the helmet edge, to use as much of the short boom as I could. I then secured it with two small holes in the chin skirt wall, through which I used a tiny zip-tie to secure it nice and snug. I was using a Purple Panda mic, but that 5 feet of wire just would not stay tucked in the helmet. I have to keep the chin vent closed, because enough wind noise gets through, but my 3.0 doesn't get that hot anyway (not that I can't crack the visor for cool air). I think the hunt for the "best" helmet mic will go on as long as there are different opinions on what is good audio!
I had to crack up at myself... As you were showing us all of the nifty neato Rok Form items, I saw Midge's tail tip move and jumped. I thought it was a snake!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I guess I need another cup of The audio was definitely better the second time around, but I get it that it's not what you want. I hope you figure out the right set up so you can enjoy your rides and we can enjoy your videos even more!
I got the universal Rokform mount for my phone case, I have an Otterbox and did not want to change it, I got one the sticky mounts for my car and been testing it during the hot Summer days last year to see if they both adhere good in the extreme heat of a car and it has been great, now need buy the bike mount. I thought your audio was pretty good personally, did hear bit wind noise.
Yeah the universal mount was a game changer! I hated having to swap cases when I wanted to use the phone on my bike. I have been doing some more testing since this video was made, and I'm still not happy with any of the audio from the Insta 360. Might just stick with GoPro for the time being.
@@HerTwoWheels I am doing videos more for my own video diary using a DJ OSMO and my audio good until I ride, still playing with positioning of mic with Purple Panda.
Great video I understand it might not get as many lights as others. I'm still using a GoPro 3 and it works just fine so I'm guessing the updates haven't done as much good as they hoped. Though I will admit I went with the cardo instead of the Sena communication device so it's a little easier for me to find something to get good sound with.
UGH, the technology struggle is real! I tried about 4 other setups and in my experience in the professional audio/visual world, a lot of the lav mics just get overdriven by the road noise which makes them sound terrible. I'm using the exact same mic setup with the Sena mic and adapter on my Hero 8, and I ended up taping the connectors together which seems to really help avoid issues with disconnections. I tried the Xbox mic after finding it in one of your early videos and it just didn't work for me sadly, and like you said, it's far too short! Thanks for making this video, I always like to see what other people use for their moto vlog setup.
THAT IS A HUGE CLAMP!!!! It shocked me a little when you picked it up. Thanks for such an informative video. For anyone who want to start doing what you do, this is important....:))
I had a real problem with Hero5 and that stupid block mic adapter. I kept dropping my audio. I stopped using the 5 and went back old school like Shadetree and starting using my 4.
One of your better videos shows how much work there is to getting it right .have a question can you power the 360 from the bike .I use a ram mount and power gopro 4 time for an upgrade. Thank you.
Sorry you have had issues with the Gopro. I have never experienced issues with mine yet but I am running the hero 9. Agree with the Mic adapter part though they could make it small just like the 360 cam one you showed. Would be frustrating thinking recorded something awesome and found it missing or damaged.
Thanks, enjoyed the Insta360 One RS overview. I'll compare it to some other GoPro alternatives for my next camera. I would be unhappy with the wind noise too, but the audio wasn't too bad, for me I like a little more bass. Hope you get it all worked out! I think those black lines you mentioned in the mic plugs are spacers for the electrical contacts. I'm sure you already know but in case a novice reader is out here one spacer is for a mono mic and two spacers is a stereo mic, and the third metal contact is for ground. Oh just have Jordan use his calipers to measure the diameter of the plug.
After experiencing some issues with my GoPro I also looked into getting the RS. I really hope the toy can figure out a good solution with it so you can have a reliable set up
I like the rockform phone case and holder. I use it on my bike. Just be careful if you have an IPhone, some can't take the vibration and ruins the cameras. No issues with the Samsung phones.
I like the rokform mounting options but I think the phone cases are cheap and not that good my iPhone has a lot of cracks on the back of it. They don’t protect well and are slippery not a combo.
Audio on the first mic was only just passable on the freeway but it was fine in urban riding, I thought the second mic while not perfect was considerably better on the freeway, could you reach out to Insta 360 for possible solutions? There must be some forums you could browse for ideas too
I can’t wait to see how you get on with the insta 360..I’m looking at buying my first action camera and need an honest first hand review of it without all the BS that comes with a lot of the other sponsored TH-camrs..! In short I know you’ll say it how it is and if it’s a worthy camera..👍
Great camera choice I have been using Insta 360 on my channel since last september I have 3 of them now including Inch sensor mic adapter is much smaller on One RS regarding helmet I would never get Ruroc 😁
Get 3m trim adhesive that stuff will hold king Kong to the side of a vehicle .if you can't get it I'll gladly send you a tube I work at a highly reputable body shop and over the years 3m has worked for us hope this helps your videos will really rock in 360 happy and safe riding the highway goes on forever my life and friends ride together ❤ps have you heard anything about vibration damaging phones .
Im with you on the Gopro being notorious for losing audio for no reason. And also for the Xbox mic being the best option. I guess it's important for 14 year olds to hear each other insulting one another on Fortnight. I have to watch my blinky light CLOSELY on my Gopro, and on long distances, just remove the battery and plug a cord into the adapter port to keep it powered. Nice video. I'll be watching closely to see if the Insta has a remedy.
Probably will sound a little odd, but if you have a wired apple headphone set, give it a try to sort out the audio. I have been very happy with the results compared to the Lavalier mic’s.
My GoPro setup can be a bit wonky too. On the 8 I use the media mod and make sure everything is updated. I think GoPro doesn't play well with android as well. The work your doing to get us great video is appreciated.
That microphone connection is called TRS or TRRS. Find out which one you need and then order on Amazon. Eliminates the adapter. My experience is that most cheap 🎤 do the job. We are talking about like 10 bucks here.
I've been hearing sooooo many glitches with GoPro that I pretty much cancelled my purchase. It's clear to see GoPro doesnt care about the buyers and all they lose... IMO, they are the Apple of cameras... they know people will still line up and buy whatever buggy crap they put out!
So, I didn't think the initial audio was too bad, maybe not as good as your older setup, but not bad. That being said, I use a gopro hero 6 still, and the gopro mic adapter. But I have really good luck with the giant Squid mic. I'm by no means trying to just grab views, but check out one of my videos to see what you think of the audio. It's a pretty cheap mic and might be worth testing out with your new insta setup.
Image stability is good. Paused the video and did a sceen shot. Focus is good also. ( 63 in a 55 🤔😁) Shame Radio Shack went out of business. Going to have to do some web searches for a mic that is what you need.
Read the description ⚠
Thanks again for great video! Mrs Jess
Jess your click bait is out of control. 😉😉😉
I love the new effort.
Ride hard, ride strong.
I’m using the AKASO Brave and it lasts 8 hrs. Never hooked up a mic though. Like the woman with horns behind you. lol.
Uh....
Insta camera for no battery problems, good external recorder + small mic + deadcat so it doesn't blow wind into mic and problem solved.
come on, who in 2022 is still using camera audio :P this just doesn't make sense
Thanks for taking the time. We miss Ya down here in Florida!
hi, I have had similar issues with getting a mic setup for my helmet.
I have no complaints about the audio from your first test. The second one was a little flat.
Sincerely,
Donnie Miller

Just last week I got a cardo and a gopro and wanted to find a good setup my helmet. Thanks. Can't wait to start motovlogging
Thanks for the info Jess. I plan on videoing my rides. This helps tremendously.
Thabk you for the kind words!!!
Not being mean its my ocd problem. Lol.
Thanks Jess for your videos and all the effort that goes into editing them. I love them.
Appreciate the video…consider going to the GP 7? Mine has been flawless and why I have not upgraded. Good luck
Good luck!
And now i know! haha
The audio sounds great. The video quality it perfect. I’m gonna have to check into this camera.
Enjoyed the info about the insta 360.
Great picture quality. May need to also make that switch, I'll wait for your review
But I tested this new mic with the gopro after editing this video and it sounded great! haha
I’m just want to say thank you to investing in more equipment to make your videos with better quality to us. Greetings from El Paso TX.
I will never go back to less of a mic for motovlogs even though the mic costs just as much as a camera lol.
its killing me that its not center!!!!!! but the video audio and anti vibration look and sound awesome. Hopefully it works better for you.
All though you weren't happy with the audio either time, I thing that it was a great improvement the 2nd time. Good luck. Nice helmet.
We appreciate you going through much to bring us quality audio and videos. Even though I always think your videos rock
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I guess I need another cup of
The audio was definitely better the second time around, but I get it that it's not what you want. I hope you figure out the right set up so you can enjoy your rides and we can enjoy your videos even more!
Love the camera. Sounds great.
Question why the red helmet?? If you are going Oppa. Why not a white helmet with the arrow like the last air bender??
Great comparison , I had no idea . . .
I didn't mind the sound quality of your first try. As long as I can hear you....I'm good. Don't listen to youtube your videos are great.
Thank you.
I honestly don’t know but I can’t imagine it would be a good idea haha
This was a very useful video to me. Thank you for creating it!
I really hope the toy can figure out a good solution with it so you can have a reliable set up
Glad to see the red helmet is back. You should treat it like an American Express card: don't leave home without it! 😁
Your audio sounds good on my end. But I’m no expert. Happy riding!
You make that picture on the easel ? WOW ! Nice work 👍🏻
I like the rockform phone case and holder. I use it on my bike. Just be careful if you have an IPhone, some can't take the vibration and ruins the cameras. No issues with the Samsung phones.
Enjoyed the video and didn't hear anything wrong with the audio keep up with the videos , loving it
I like the rokform mounting options but I think the phone cases are cheap and not that good my iPhone has a lot of cracks on the back of it.
@Her Two Wheels check out turtle beach Mic options with their headsets they are typically long and adjustable!
I am learning SO MUCH from these comments! haha! Thanks!
We stay till the end of all your videos! 😊
Glad to hear that you like crimson red, I hope you like myself love to cheer for the crimson tide, roll tide football team.🤓
Video was nice but I'm excited to hopefully catch a glimpse of that antlered character finished in the bg 😆
Maybe one day! 😅😅😅
Image stability is good. Paused the video and did a sceen shot. Focus is good also. ( 63 in a 55 🤔😁) Shame Radio Shack went out of business. Going to have to do some web searches for a mic that is what you need.
