Had a bit of a DEUS 2 disaster too! But Simon benefited from one to one tutelage as a result, though his best finds came all on his own!!

My Great Grandfather a Dairyman, was known to use Ponds cream in a pinch on the cows udders. Maybe they did that in Scotland as well.

Thankfully fixed and working now. Next morning turned it on and it connected straight away! Battery in coil at 85% re loaded 2.0 just in case and it worked fine 😧 who knows!!!
As always the metal detecting was great, and y'all are hilarious. I thought that maybe you were going to have to change the name of the channel to "The Spanish Detectorist" since the Deus took a day off. 😅🤣 Good stuff though. Happy hunting.

I think the big two hole boton is actually a pocket watch back case with the holes for winding and set the hands probably from 1800.

I hope you get your detector fixed soon! Good thing you had Simon there who generously shared his Minelab with you for a while (after making you work for it lol). Maybe you should get a back-up detector - not an expensive one, but something to use in a pinch. I have high hopes for this field!

The exact same thing happened a couple of days ago when my buddy and I went metal detecting. We both have Deus 1 machines and when we got to the field we were going to hunt, his machine would not connect to his coil. We tried turning it on and off and nothing happened. He had charged the machine before the day before so we thought perhaps his coil didn't have any charge on it. We plugged it into the trucks lighter plug and let it charge for 20 minutes. He then retried starting it and it low and behold it worked. It turned on showing a complete charge on the coil which a 20 minute charge would not have down. I guess it just needed a kick start to get it going. For the 20 minutes it was on the charge my buddy was digging all my signals. I laughed when I saw the timing of your mishap and the timing of that happening to us. We had a good hunt and dug up about 15 civil war roundballs and some flat buttons. Love your hunts.
Amazing! 🥲 glad it resolved!! Weirdly without having done anything, turned it on next morning and it connected straight away. Coil had about 85% battery. I reinstalled 2.0 and so far so good!! 😊
