- Canada's Wonderland recently sent out a survey asking their guests which new roller coaster concept they liked most. It's about time they added another big thrill ride, and it seems they're trying to decide between a family thrill wooden coaster, a launched wing coaster themed to a concert, or a launched wing coaster sending you out of Wonder Mountain! We'll discuss the three options and which would work best in the park!

The concept art is not made from scratch, it seems. So they likely had to use a photo of a flyer because no existing winged coasters quite have elements that match what they’re imagining (as far as the section coming out of the mountain goes, anyway)
I honestly like that Concert theme one. Build a big building by the Kingswood Music Theatre where the coaster can go and experience that indoor concert part of the ride and have still some on the outside aswell. I think they could make it do in that area. That wood one by Wild Water Canyon is perfect.

You do realize that if that concept gets built, it'll **replace** Kingswood Theatre, right? They're not building a concert-themed coaster...next to a 15,000 seat concert venue, lol. They're using the theme as an excuse to demolish the theater and use all its land for the coaster.

Personally it would be great if they bring back something like Summer Rush. That Kingswood music theatre could be like a second Budweiser Stage. It would bring so many people which means 💰💰💰💰💰 which i think wonderland can benefit from

@cheznapoli8321 I know Kingswood is being removed, but some people are suggesting removing the other one next to the mountain. Have you heard anything about that one being removed as well??
@@drmac9884 yeah rumour around the park is it’s gonna be the station for the wing that launches into the mountain through an underground tunnel. It hasn’t been used for much in recent years. With that theatre gone, and the space between bear lodge and vortex there will be room for a few elements and the coaster can sore over other areas. Get ready for another graceful B&M experience 🙄

The Blast Coaster would work best as a Flying Coaster. It could then wind around the mountain and not take up as much space so they still could build more.

I’d take b&m wing out of the mountain. But wow! I just LOVE how much they are incorporating park fans and coaster enthusiasts with this. Instead of the parks doing the decision it’s the fans and coaster enthusiasts. It’s very smart and makes them even more respectable.
The launched wing coaster with onboard rock music has the potential to be one of my favorite coasters anywhere … combination of Thunderbird and Rip Ride Rockit!
Considering how Canada's Wonderland already has a Boomerang and an SLC, I think a Vekoma Flying Coaster like F.L.Y going out of the mountain could work instead of a wing coaster. I just don't know how much it'd cost. The ghost town based wooden coaster sounds nice, but I want some new.
I’d take the B&M wing busting out of the mountain. King’s Dominion is taking so long to act on Volcano’s replacement. The concept is bound to be taken at some point.
But by the same chain! It’s not like it’s being “taken,” the park is literally just building a volcano replacement in another park.

To be fair, I think it was always highly unlikely for KD to replace Volcano with a newer Volcano, so it's not like the concept was expected to come back.
My personal views on this as Wonderland is my home park:
Concept 1 (GCI): I can see the park removing the Action Theatre and creating a "ghost town" expansion to Frontier Canada in the area of WWC. The park has stated that Frontier Canada will be completed in stages and it is very evident that the area is far from complete. I do not see this concept being the next coaster though, as Frontier Canada is the main area that has received new rides recently (2019 and 2023) and prior to the area being official, it also saw 2017 and 2018's additions.
Concept 2 (Concert coatser): I do not think this will happen. I honestly think they put this in so there was 3 concepts instead of 2. If this did happen, I could see it going in the area that Kingswood is located, but the park has so many areas where a new coaster could fit before they would need to fully demolish Kingswood for expansion (even though it's been abandoned for years).
Concept 3 (Blast coaster): This is the most likely IMO. Wonderland may be removing International Showplace soon as it is only used for special events now and barely anyone watches those events. It's a central location in the park and I think they could do 1 of 2 things with the coaster. It could anchor International Festival and be themed to Wonder Mountain, or I can see them using this as the big new attraction to re-introduce the Grand Expo area to the park (which Paramount so graciously destroyed) and tie it more into that themed area. I think that makes more sense as they could have the main entrance plaza by Swing of the Century. The coaster would blast into and out of the mountain, turn around, and use the land where International Showplace was and the area behind Swing of the Century for the remainder of the layout.
Wonderland is very predictable with additions. They do not like to remove rides, unless they have to. They like reliability and capacity, they will fit rides into already developed land prior to expansion. I have been saying since Yukon Striker opened that their next coaster will be a B&M wing because it's an obvious choice. I just honestly thought it would replace Wilde Beast, which would then lead to a GCI in the WWC arear of the park. It'll solve the launch coaster gap and the winged element will make it extremely marketable in the Canadian market as it would be the only wing coaster in the country.

When it comes to removing vortex for the blast coaster concept, I don’t think they’re going to get rid of it since it received a repaint this year. It seems like they want it around until they literally can’t run it anymore. If the park were to remove something on the mountain it would be guardian, it’s been a mess for it’s entire time at the park
The park is probably using some reverse psychology for this option. They really want to see how many outraged parents say, *"Don't build this - FIX THE GUARDIAN RIDE!!!!"* Or, *"How are you going to fit it in without tearing down Vortex??? We LOVE it - don't get rid of it!!!"*

My thoughts on each of these:
GCI: Seems like the safest option. Definitely cool to see GCI continuing with the spiral lift hills. Plus since RMC can’t work in Canada (from what I’ve heard for whatever reason), this could definitely make up for it.
Concert Coaster: This basically screams “Rock and Roller Coaster starring Rush” and I’m all here for it. I see this fitting best in the current spot of Time Warp and Flight Deck, which is also right next to their amphitheater.
Mountain Coaster: Would probably be a worthy successor to V:TBC, but unfortunately I don’t see how Vortex can survive if this happens. I just don’t see the space on the top of the mountain for both.
I’d probably go with the GCI of the 3, but the concert coaster theme does intrigue me. Maybe that could work as a different kind of launched coaster.
I think the woodie makes the most sense for the next coaster but the blast coaster would probably work by getting rid of Wonder mountains guardian which is a Maintenance and capacity nightmare anyways so that also makes sense and finally I actually like the rock concert concept as they could place it on the land formerly occupied by Kingswood music theatre and pay homage to its legacy.
Sounds to me like the concert coaster would take up kingswood plot of land and be situated in the 'grande world expo' and might be the first phase in that section.
The blast coaster looks like an invert based on the renderings and sounds to me like it will be partially underground (where we have 2 haunt mazes) and can shoot out of the mountain without affecting vortex or the other coasters (its a pretty big mountain).
And the gci just looks and sounds cool. I actually prefer that option cause while our woodies are fun and all, we need one that is new and modern.
Just a thought, what if these are the next 3 coasters that will happen and CW just wants the public feedback on which to open first.

I would choose the GCI. I do think Canada's Wonderland should save their launch for another day, hopefully a day when Intamin and Cedar Fair have reconciled. This would be the launch we want but not what we need. And don't get me started on the "concert coaster".

This is my home park. Can confirm that i would prefer a GCI. I just want a somewhat decent wooden coaster within driving distance. Wing launch would be nice but id rather they fix the wooden coaster problem first
backlot stunt coaster is kind of a launch coaster, but honestly if they just RMC the two wooden roller coaster, thats all they need to do.
The concert coaster could go by the rapids, because the theater area (which is quite big) can easily fit a coaster with it's surrounding area.
The mountain coaster would be insane. But the area you described that goes near guardian that is free is already finished building a new eating area.
I doubt they are working with RMC anytime soon. :(
do not rmc both of the woodies, leave one, wildebeast has the best possible layout if they remove those go karts nobody likes. minebuster is too iconic to be rmc'ed. the most they should do it is retrack with gravity group
Agree the GCI is most urgently needed of the three options, but I'd rather see a ground-up replacement of Wilde Beast and The Bat. Wilde Beast opened with the park in '81. The Bat is the 9th oldest Boomerang in the world, so they can't keep it around that much longer. Would be great if the new GCI included 3 Titan track inversions to keep that count the same. Hopefully they also finally retheme Backlot Stunt Coaster...maybe to escaping a paddock of cloned...mastodons. No copyright infringement there. 😆

This "Concert Coaster" themed to rock & roll music sounds right up my alley, since I'm a rock & roll musician.
I like the GCI concept too. I think it aligns with the themed vision the cedar fair parks are taking and would love the following coaster to be a multi launch in the time warp/flight deck plot of land
I've been a Wonderland passholder for years (going tomorrow for my bday!) and i must agree. GCI coaster is the best option but I would be SO SAD if they took out White Water Canyon to do it!!!

Best video I've watched on this situation with Wonderland. Well discussed and good knowledge of the coaster types. I would go with the Ghost town area to fit in with the frontier land area. OR the Concert coaster. Kingswood is not coming back so it would be a great location for a big winged coaster. I can see it like Guardians of the Galaxy were people are riding it multiple times to 'collect' all the songs.
If i can get a wing coaster and RUSH blasting in my ears sounds like a dream!!
Amusement insiders also just released a video, they have markers around the mountain and another area of the park. According to him these markers always appear when rides are going in, and so it’s very likely the launched coaster in the mountain as well as the GCI are both being built, as the markers are in the locations of where these rides would be
Wonderland still feels like it's trapped in the 90s so I think it's easy to adapt that concert coaster into the park. Days of Thunder could be the station.

For clarification, it isn’t 3 options. It’s two options for the blast coaster. The family woody is a separate project. Both are happening. The question is, which one first. There is some confusion because the surveying and markers were done for the woody in 2021, while the markets around the mountain (for the blast coaster only popped up over the past few days.

The concert idea could work because of the huge kingswood theatre, and they could take out flight deck and time warp
With the launched mountain coaster, the park's practically daring people to beg for a Wonder Mountain's Guardian overhaul. (And maybe adding theming to Thunder Run.) But mainly, if they get a ton of comments like, *"How will you fit this in with Vortex there?"* then that'll inform whether it's worth running Vortex for 10 more years. Personally hope Cedar Point gets Vekoma trains for Iron Dragon so those spares can be donated, but we'll see.
The concert themed one sounds like there’s almost no chance it won’t be tacky, so that’s my bottom choice. The wooden coaster sounds like it could be done with minimal disruptions to rides I like. The volcano coaster sounds awesome, but I don’t think it’s worth taking Vortex out for- Vortex is old but it still rides incredibly, and is definitely the best non-B&M in the park. Thunder Run is too good for families to gut. Wonder Mountain Guardian seems like it might be fun if it worked, but it doesn’t, so I can live without it.
I could also see the GCI option, but not if it's a tame family coaster. I've ridden Ghost Rider at Knott's and it was a great ride! Although I think they may have added trim brakes to slow it down after I visited in 2018
There’s no more mid course break run on Ghostrider so the drop off of there is still epic and that thing gets flying towards the end. It just ruins operations which are some of the worst in any theme park ever

As someone who’s home park is wonderland I would chose the blast coaster. All I want is an addition to the big 3
4:23 Canada has produced a lot of rock bands over the past 60 years. Off the top of my head, I can name Steppenwolf, The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Rush, The Tragically Hip, Red Rider, Streetheart, Harlequin, Trooper, Prism, The Northern Pikes, 54-40, Barenaked Ladies, the Sam Roberts Band, The Headpins, Honeymoon Suite, Chilliwack, Theory of a Deadman, Big Wreck, and Blue Rodeo.
I have only ever heard one of of those lol
I want both the GCI family coaster and the B&M concert coaster. The GCI would be another great fit for the Frontier Canada section and the B&M concert coaster would fit perfectly in the Action Zone section. If they went with GCI, maybe they could also hire them to retrack Mighty Canadian Minebuster and Wild Beast similar to what they did with Timber Wolf at World's of Fun back in 2018. It would have to go in the space currently occupied by Flight Deck in Time Warp. Unless the park is going to give Flight Deck a retrack with vest restraints, and unless there's a way to make Time Warp a much smoother ride, I see no reason to keep them.
Canada's Wonderland is my home park, and I do agree that they need an actual launch coaster (I know Thunder Run and Backlot Stunt Coaster exists, but those are fairly mild, except for Backlot's first helix. Those positive-g's though O_o). Honestly, seeing a launched B&M wing would be cool, considering only two other launched wing coasters exist (Thunderbird and Furious Baco, the former being the only launched coaster by B&M). And while that would be cool, I wouldn't want to have complications with Vortex (specifically with the mountain theme) and risk it's removal, considering it's one of the five Arrow Suspended Coasters still operating. I also wouldn't mind a Mack Multi-launch either in the place of Flight Deck and Time Warp (Airtime Thrills made a video on that). And while I like the concept of a GCI woodie (the other woodies in the park are not great), I think that option is redundant because the park already has three wooden coasters. Maybe one of them will get retracked or RMC'd (hopefully Minebuster, despite the various laws preventing RMC from going into Canada), but I dunno. Those are just my thoughts.

Not sure i love the options. Like they seem set in a wing coaster. But why not provide a third option? An invert, flyer, or Mac multi launch. Each would be incredible with a launch and would fill that gap in the lineup
As someone who has been going to the park since I was little and also having worked there for 2 seasons (aquatics)- I can say that 100% they should go with the GCI. The land on which White Water Canyon and Action Theatre occupies takes up at least 1/4 of the back area of the park only to occupy one ride and one massive theatre that has been defunct for almost a decade now. The concert coaster, while it would be cool to hear good Canadian Tunes like Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Marianas Trench, Drake etc. would not really fit into any area unless medieval faire or International festival got a big lift up (which appears that it won't because of the recent additions in the area). The Blast Coaster, while being a total ripoff of Volcano: The Blast Coaster, could work and would bring in lots of guests, I just don't think aesthetically would look that good. Look at Volcano: The Blast Coaster, really cool concept, but it looked so terrible on the outside. Adding this coaster would essentially ruin the majesty of Wonder Mountain and would occupy too much of the skyline which is reserved for the big 3 coasters (Yukon, Leviathan, and Behemoth). The only way the concert coaster would work is if they got rid of Time Warp, Flight Deck, and Kingswood and put it there, but it doesn't quite seem like they want to get rid of those guys because they want the credit
Wasnt there a rumor that Kings Dominion was getting a wing coaster to replace Volcano? I wonder if they moved that project to Canadas Wonderland. Didnt seem like Kings Dominion fans were happy about a small scale B&M wing coaster anyway.
Hoping for something different. Behemoth & Leviathan are similar. How about giving Minebuster or Wildebeast an RMC remake? Or a forwards-backwards launch coaster where people can vote for which direction to go? Something the park doesn’t have yet instead of more of the same. 🤞
Wait for rock bands in Canada I'd mention Sum 41, Arcade Fire, Rush. The country is more famous for pop (Justin Bieber) country (Shania Twain) rap (Drake) R&B (The Weeknd) and divas (Celiene Dion.)
Would the launch coaster mean the end of the suspended coaster? Also is the audio synced to the video properly?
I don’t honestly they should just do an intimate blitz they did at cedar point and it turned out to be my favorite roller coaster personally Maverick and even if it’s not your favorite, that’s still a great ride
It's my home park GCI woody hands down would be my choice. I'm a bit biased as a wooden coaster fan though. :P Would love to also see Minebuster get RMC'd. Wilde Beast is currently the best wooden coaster. Maybe it's not amazing but gets more air time than MB, is less rough now after re tracking maybe? Most underrated coaster in the park IMO.
Honestly, the wing coaster is a really good addition. Canada's wonderland doesn't have any coaster that doesn't sit rides on top of the track, other than Time warp and flight deck but those suck
The blast coaster is either a wing or invert in the article I read about these concepts. I think if they do the blast coaster concept they should remove wonder mountain's guardian because it has it's problems and they could make one of those trotech hyper dark ride things like the one in Niagara Falls in the old action theatre building

Canada’s Wonderland local. GCI all the way! I love the smoothness of a B&M but we got 3. Both of our woodies are rough, and we need a good one. I’d retract one and RMC the other but out of these I want a GCI.

If Ima be honest with this, They Need a launched Vekoma coaster because if they wnet with this route, It would be the only launch “VEKOMA” coaster in Canada

Here's my take on it a wing coaster that would be amazing at Canada's Wonderland but the whole ghost Town fits in with the frontier Canada's theme so much better

I guess we're still not getting the RMC treatment for Minebuster or Wilde Beast :( For my money, the woody would be best. Again referring to the crud that is the existing woodies already there. they need a good one. But any of the others are doable. I 100% agree that the space used by Flight Deck and TimeWarp is perfect for it.

They should do an Intamin Blitz, Vekoma Blitz, Mack Extreme Spinner or a ground up RMC I-Box hybrid. Any one of those would fill a big gap in their coaster lineup. Much more so than a B&M Wing coaster or wooden family coaster.
Cedar point is my home park but I’m not being home park by us. I live right by her she obviously and kings island. I’ve been to both of those in Maverick. Still my favorite out of all the roller coasters.

I like the idea of a launched wing coaster, I just think the themes are strange. You have one that is ripped straight from Kings Dominion, and you have another that is just bad. I think the GCI is the most likely one. Also, there is a massive editing mistake where the video and audio are not in sync.

Something to mention though, the mountain coaster concept art is literally an inverted coaster.

i opposed the mountain part since the mountain wing should be at kings dominion, and that can remove Vortex I could do the wing coaster concert to remove the timewarp, and I support the GCI coaster to build in Canada
I think ghost town is such a cool theme, 😊 I wish cedar point had a ghost town next to the frontier part of their park and added spooky rides or a mining theme
I really hope it’s not a woody. Woodies are fun sure, but they can be so rough at times and it just gets worse. B&Ms are almost always smooth and just generally good rides all around.
Just my opinion but either way I am hyped to be getting a new coaster at my home park!
I want to see a rebirth of Crystal Beach Cyclone in some form. With either Titian Track or Gravity Group's pre-cut track, the technology exists to do it right. Put the layout into a computer and do what needs to be done to ensure safety, but keep the character of the layout there. Name a more iconic element of amusement park history from Canada than Crystal Beach Cyclone. And it wouldn't take that much space! It shouldn't be a matter of if this idea happens, it should be a matter of WHEN it happens since they're short on space and it's the perfect rebirth of an icon.
They should call the wing coaster 'Ziz'

Why does cedar point and have a intamin have issues ?? Because I feel Ike intamin has the best roller coasters ! Random thought I am just curious.
I like the idea of a launched wing coaster, but not necessarily with the chosen themes. The park could probably always add another type of launch coaster down the road especially if cedar fair starts investing in this park.
I am not a fan of another family gci woody if it isn’t titan track and has infinity flyers though, the land looks really cool but if the ride is anything like zambezi zinger then I would leave my biggest condolences with the park
Proposal: Mountain Rock Coaster. With a stage inside the mountain and a Billy Talent & Sum 41 soundtrack.
I think something PERFECT would be with B&M still, a hulk like launch coaster and it would be a lot closer to ride something in my top 5 😢
My home parks canadas wonderland and the wing launches are cool but the wooden is the most practical and I cherish vortex so I can let them take it away
Oof on the no famous Canadian rock bands. Rush, Arcade Fire, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Three Days Grace, Steppenwolf, Billy Talent immediately jump to mind. All 3 options don't really have a stand out as such for me. Music is a big thing for me when it comes to attractions and some of my favourite coasters have phenomenal soundtracks. So I do get the appeal of the "ehy" version of Rock n Roller Coaster but I agree, it wouldn't be the most interesting. The GCI plan sounds the most thought out and it would be cool to have a mine train experience without seeing a vekoma mine train coaster for once.
I think the blast coaster concept would work best as a vekoma flying coaster, they didn't exactly specify the manufacturer, and concept art is not a commitment. wing coaster would prove too costly, and may result in the removal of all 3 coasters from the mountain, plus vekoma track is very slim and the flying coaster train is only 2-across so they could make it a lot more intense and fun
I’d put the wing coaster in VA and put a RMC in wonderland.
I love the wing out of the mountain, but removing vortex for it would be a terrible idea. That is one of their 4 good coasters...out of 18. They can not let that happen

Hello???? I know you are young, but a coaster tribute to Rush, Canada’s and Toronto’s HOF rock power trio hometown band would be sublime. YYZ, Tom Sawyer, etc would be very well received. Was there from US for first visit and a great park. Vortex was down the whole day as was flight deck.
I don't think that they will take out vortex because it is a crowd pleaser and usually has at least a 30 Min wait.
The "concert coaster" concept seems like a ruse to gauge how little the GP cares about Kingswood Theatre. The park knows Flight Deck and Time Warp are unpopular abominations, but they're probably not going to remove them until they feel justified using at least some of the theater plot, too. Even if they move Xtreme Skyflyer to the field between Vortex and Yukon Striker, it's not a huge plot. It'd be enough for a Mack XSC or even a B&M Surf if they wanted to go that route. But a wing coaster bigger than X-Flight would at least need the lawn next to Kingswood.
I miss the dragons heartbeat while leaving Thunder Run, that being said it can go. I know it’s a family favorite, but come on. Really one of the woodies needs to be RMC’d first. Flight deck and time warp look to be being surveyed for hopeful removal. The only knock on this park forever has been their collection not the number of coasters
I totally agree with the ghost town with the GCI but at the same time I like the wing coaster out of the volcano
