I just loved the video of the Raritan Valley layouts. Nothing is more impressive than long trains running without apparently chasing their ends.
It’s a large well detailed layout. Makes watching the trains so much fun
Nice looking Marx steamer you picked up, Dave. And it runs! Thanks for the video visit to the Edison Greenberg show. I particularly liked the Lego layouts because they're always so colourful. The Christmas village is particularly striking. Thanks for your comments and the show clips, and the video clip at Art's layout. All good stuff!
Thanks! Lego is my other obsessive hobby so it always catches my eye.
I was there missed you, had a great time came home with some stuff, did you see Jimmy trains animator blow me away.
Sorry we missed each other. Yeah his stuff is amazing. And he’s always developing something new
Love the triple 9! Hope u just keep is a 999 :)
I probably will and end up looking for a damaged one to use for a project.
Just ordered some track to get some of it back together and hopefully I can send you a video . Definitely was a big show and worth the trip !!
Glad you got track and a video in 👍
Great video as always. Sorry I could not attend, family & grandkids meeting at a great Jersey diner in Cherry Hill NJ (Ponzio's) that Saturday.
I did attend the previous Greenberg show in Edison and hope to make it to the one at Oaks, PA..
Nice haul on that Chicago & Alton diner car you were looking for. I just found one like it at Allentown.
Also, really nice Marx 999 that you rescued. As you know am also a Marx collector/operator and I have one like it. According to the last Greenberg guide on Marx published in 2011 that were valued with a solid plain cow catcher like yours in good condition at $20 and Exc at $40. Since that was 13 years ago, its probably increased somewhat so I think you did well.
The 999s (post war models) are nice heavy die cast molds with a headlight and although they don't have smoke ability like the 666, 1666, 1829 or 333, they are strong pullers and as they say you just can't kill a Marx. I may feature mine on my channel soon. Already sent you my video submission.
Thanks, happy and safe holiday season and hope to see you again soon! 😉
Sometimes family takes priority!
I really need to clean that Marx engine up and see how it runs.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.
Feels good to complete a set. Fill in the collection. Marx's is bullet proof apparently.
Nice budget haul😊
Thanks!
I definitely saw you at one point but I ran into so many people I kept getting distracted. Significantly more crowded than it’s been the past few years
It was very crowded. I spend most of the show distracted! It always amazes me when I know someone is at a show like that and I still don’t bump into them.
Marx guy here, I appreciate your dedication to Marx.
We can’t ignore Marx! I don’t think I’ve ever run Marx and not had a great time
The two Maine State boxcars at 17:14 look different with the M M A 5 on the sides. I've never seen that before. It was hard to figure what scale they were. They appeared to be resting on a smaller than O scale track ? Thanks 👍
I think they were straddling an HO track
Great video Dave. It was great seeing and talking to you as usual. I definitely did more socializing than anything else. I didn’t really get any footage.
Thanks Corey, always great seeing you.
Very awesome haul you got!
Thank you!!
Great haul Dave. I sent a video. It's kind of big. Hope you get it!
Thanks! I guess I received it since I put you in the first video!
A fun video as always Dave!
We had our club show this past weekend and like yourself I wasn't looking for anything in particular. I DID see something that interested me but I wasn't going to buy it unless I made the purchase price seeling stuff of my own. It didn't happen but I'm not broken up over it.
Aside from that it was a fun show and a good time was had by all, and that's all that matters.
Thanks! I’ve been trying to accept the idea that I can go to a show and not buy something, but it’s so hard!
@@dagryffynhobby I know! I went to the Rappahannock Model Railroader's show this past weekend, I wasn't looking for anything but it's a cool little show and I hate to miss it.
Long story short I came home with an Atlas A&P billboard tender, an Atlas trolley for a repaint project, and an "orphan" whistle tender. Then just for fun and to drop off some Christmas cookies for the crew I stopped at Tiny Tim's in Ashland and walked out with a like-new used conventional Harry Potter train set! I'm not an HP fan but I like the train. The wife's a Harry fan and is VERY impressed with the train! "Can we run it under the Christmas tree?" A pretty good weekend for someone who wasn't looking for anything! 🤩
@ that’s fantastic. I love Tiny Tim’s, such a great shop and location
@@dagryffynhobby That it is! Anyone traveling I-95 through Virginia should make the time to stop in!
This Stop is Red Bank. Art and I loved that one the most.
Yeah that’s just too cool
Hey Dave! Always watch/like your videos. Have you ever seen an 0 gauge Rath Ham refer? I lived in Iowa for a short time when i was a boy, and always saw them. Thanks for what you do.
Thanks! I have not that I’m aware of but then I haven’t been looking either.
Very nice, Dave! I like that 999. They are good runners and will pull a fair amount of Marx cars. Mine is missing the tender, so I'm using one of my lithographed ones. It has the 'fat' wheels, but my outer two mains don't have switches, so it isn't a problem. I like Art's Blue Comet announcing 'Arriving in Atlantic City', as my family has roots there, going back to the 1860's and I still spend a good amount of time there. Edison looks like a great time. All of those layouts are quite fine. Some day, I'd like to get there, for the show. I'll put together a quick video and send it. Do you want us to mention who we are or will you just ID it in your vid? Either way, an excellent video, as always.
The blue comet with the announcements is amazing for us NJ people! Edison is almost always a good show, some are better than others, this particular one I believe is the largest.
If you haven’t sent a video yet, I’ve mentally lost track of all of them, go and do so soon.
@@dagryffynhobby How true! I'd love to get a Blue Comet and some PRSL locomotives and cars. That way, I could replicate the trains that my mom rode on, back when she was young. When I grew up, they were basically only running RDC's in and out of Atlantic City. At least these days, NJT runs a good amount of trains, between AC and Philly. They were great times, growing up, back then.
@@dagryffynhobby I did send a video, on the 10th. I had to check the date.
@@johnandrus3901 oh yeah, I’ve got it 👍
p.s. I researched the M M A on the boxcars. It's Montreal Maine Atlantic RR from a Athearn HO narrative. The logo on the other end is in the shape of the Bangor Aroostook insignia but I couldn't zoom in close enough to determine. I learned something new today ! 👍
That’s fantastic, and now I have learned something too!
Hey Dave, I just recently created my channel, Dale's Rails. My oldest video is just trains running on my layout. I have the share tab enabled to share. Let me know if it works for you.
The billboard is pretty neat and will be a good addition. I like your idea to use your logo.
I have the 999 it may not be the best puller, but mine runs very smoothly and quietly. It should be a good engine once it's serviced. I got mine on the bay. It was a complete set with the tinplate cars with the 3/16 scale 4 wheeled trucks. I won it all with a $26.00 minimum bid.
A 999 with cars with the scale trucks for less than $30 is a win for sure!
That 999 and billboard were good buys. Hard to beat Marx for simple joy of running trains. Always seem to live with little or no care.
A little service and that Marx will be a winner for sure
Easiest way would be face book message 4 me I think, just worry about loss of resolution
That’s fine, whatever works for you
@@dagryffynhobby Yeah the email size limit kills anything but a picture
I'll definitely will try to send you some videos of my trains running I've also got a TH-cam page
I’ve lost track of who has sent what, did you send in a clip yet? It’s not too late
@@dagryffynhobby I thought I did but my email is kind of tricky on my phone so I'll double-check and see thanks for reaching out enjoy the show while ago
Im going to start uploading videos on ny American flyer trains. My videos are not as great as yours.
A video of a train is an amazing thing! Just do it, practice, improve, enjoy!
