@Jacob Turnbaugh Coming from a gamer who doesn't commentate normally when they play I can honestly say that commentator blindness is a very real thing. Humans can not multi task no matter how hard we try, the best we can accomplish os very quickly shifting our attention between tasks. So with that being said, it's not at all out of the realm of possibility that Carl really just has these blind moments. Idc what you say, playing well while commenting in any game is difficult to accomplish.
12:20 The right side of the room was shifted over 2 blocks horizontally to the right, so that the pipe is covered by the 2 launchers. Also at 11:45 the hard blocks on the left side are behind the coin counter and at 12:20 they are at the right. edit: not the whole room, but the right side of the room
@@LucaBl I don't know exactly how the creator did it, but it must be a contraption with bombs and breakable blocks to detect whether you came from the checkpoint, (you never came in the room before) or you didn't come from the checkpoint. (Blocks exploded at some point you loaded them in) You may question how bill blasters are able to cover a pipe, because this doesn't normally work. The answer is clown cars. If you put a bill blaster in a clown car and then destroy the clown car, (in play mode) then it is possible for the bill blaster to be inside solid blocks and objects without dying.
That can't be how it's done. When you enter that room, it's through the same door both times, but if the whole room was shifted over 2 blocks, the door you come in from would appear in a different place each time. Edit: Actually I'm wrong. The way he handled the door "appearing" in a different place is by changing the size of the room. Count the number of semisolid floor tiles to the left of the launchers in 11:45 and 12:20. There are 12 tiles the first time, and 10 the second time. He didn't shift the _whole_ room to the left, he only shifted the right half of the room to the left, so the room itself gets smaller.
Took a second look at the first level and it looks like the whole setup is shifted left 2 blocks closer to the door you came out of. My guess is that on the first go through the wall on the right is blown up to reveal a second one behind it. Then some spawn shenanigans to keep the launcher count and position look the same even though everything shifted over 2 blocks
So the section with the trap card is actually the setup. As it forces the player to wait before going into a door, allowing off screen bombs to blow up.
You called it! Take a look at where the left wall sits on top of the CarlCam. In one room 10:00 it's in the middle. In the other version 10:17 it's just to the right of the camera.
Yep! I paused took a long look at the room when Carl said it was suspicious so I caught what happened. It purposefully misleads you on a couple levels though: Anyone suspicious of the room's first assumption is that the launchers are going to change, but when you go through again it's still 2 to the left and 5 to the right so if you *are* paying attention to that it appeases you. Plus there's the layer of misdirection Carl talks about in the video, making you hold the tight platforming section in your head. With all of that going on, you don't even notice the room is 2 blocks thinner.
There was a lawsuit over "Magic Cards" being the common name for "Magic the Gathering cards", and wizards asked konami to change it, so konami changed it with their 8th north american set, Magician's force.

The way the ending worked was that in an earlier section of the level (probably the one where there's a banzai bill and the Trap Card), some Bob-ombs broke the right wall of the room with the launchers. Also, a platform removed the left 2 launchers, which made sure there was the same number, and a Bob-omb broke the left ? block near the wall. When you respawn at the CP, the Bob-ombs don't explode, so there is another wall to the right. This is why when respawning at CP2, the left scroll stop doesn't work, and there are only 10 blocks in the semisolid to the left, instead of 12.

Took a lot of thinking, but I see that in the Yugi-Troll level the semi-solid is 13 blocks wide when you get CP2 and 10 blocks wide when you spawn from CP2, the level creator found a way to blow up an identical inner wall in the room (probably in the "trap" section) to make it look identical and then work the launchers in so that is you're looking at the launchers the distance to the pipe looks the same, but it's actually 2 different pipes.

In the first level you can see the difference in the room on the left. The first time the walls of the room start on X=2, but after you entered from the checkpoint, the blocks are on X=4. So in your first playthrough the launchers and the wall on the right of the room get blown away off-screen, but the room still looks the same like it originally would. It's just focussed on another point. After you die and start from the checkpoint the room resets to it's original state.
Although there's the same number of launchers in both iterations, _all_ of the launchers _and_ the right-hand wall are shifted to the left by two tile when you enter the room from the checkpoint. It's just focussed on another point. After you die and start from the checkpoint the room resets to it's original state.
Although there's the same number of launchers in both iterations, _all_ of the launchers _and_ the right-hand wall are shifted to the left by two tile when you enter the room from the checkpoint. You can tell by counting the number of tiles between the left-hand wall and the left-most launcher: the first time it's 12, the second time it's 10.
It breaks my heart when Carl calls Toad Mario 😥
