I just got this Headset from Amazon and I can definitly agree on the points mentioned in this video. It is very very comforate and the sound is just amazing! The microphone quality also is pretty nice for the price of 50€. The only thing that's kinda annoying is (personally) i fell like that the headphones really press each other together pretty hard, but elsewise I can definitly recommend this headset! It is true beauty!

those two have better mic. this one honestly............from all of my friends including me, it unusable. pick up ground loop, emit hiss sound and die in few months. honestly i have no idea how the one in this review sound so good.

Love these headsets, had them for about 6 months now and only recently discovered the Dolby Atmos sound drivers. What a difference that makes to one's audio experience. I've ordered a Steelseries Artis 7 2019 Edition headset, looking forward to some gametime with those puppies.

Sounded like the Cougar headset had a lot more white noise, mic hiss, than the other headset

On the sound it's Cougar Phontum but on the mic its Hyperx Cloud Stinger. But on comfort i always feel like both is pretty nice (But the stinger being lighter)

it does outperform the corsair in mic quality. however, don't you feel silly with those thick earcups paired with a thin metal sheath? just feels awkward for me.

So i am going to get a pair headphones and an external microphone, i am looking for a pair of headphones for under 50 with no microphone, any suggestions?
The headphones i actually suggest is Samson Sr850, the sound is pretty crystal clear and i can hear footsteps really really well. Also with the wide soundstage its pretty nice.

only downside of this headsets is its mic. it just very bad mic, it can pick up ground loop, breathing and random hizzing before it will completely death in next few months. and what the most awkward about it is this problem only happen in this model when the rest of cougar headsets mic not (yes other models have loud and clear mic without ground loop sound). however i heard the new model with the name "phontum essentials" come with a good mic but not have dual chambers like this one.
*ps* it much be great if cougar make a v2 of this model that come with better mic. it really waste for the sound quality for having this mic problem some how.

What's the point of good bass in a gaming headset?? You want a natural sound in a stereo headset for gaming not lacking mids and highs with extra useless bass. Anyone wanting to buy this is probably better off looking somewhere else for example Steelseries Siberia 200.
Most gamers want a 'fun' sounding headset. I agree that cleaner mids and highs is objecitvely better for critical listening but most people just find that boring.
I don't think the bass in a lot of the gaming headsets would be boring. They're enough to blow your ears usually. So I don't know why anyone would want extra bass at the cost of worse sound clarity and less soundstage.
A lot of folks buying in this price-range buy one headset for both gaming and music. If you like EDM and the like, then something that won't rattle when the volume is more then1/5th of the way up is nice (the last expensive pair of headphones I had did this, and it was infuriating).
If I gamed competitively, I might care a bit more for the mids and highs, but as it is, going into the EQ and tweaking things should do well enough for my needs at least.
DFX2KX My Siberia 200 has perfect bass at high volumes. No distortion at any volume level. It doesn't have exaggerated deep bass. It's a punchy bass and I also listen to EDM. While I agree if someone wants it MOSTLY for music should just buy something that would match their taste. But if someone wants it also for gaming I don't think it's really wise to sacrifice clear mids and highs just to get a deep exaggerated bass that will really be only good for EDM and the like. You can buy something with a natural deep OR punchy bass (depending on your preference) and have a more balanced sound which is versatile. You can use EQ to make it more bassy if you want to sacrifice mids and highs after all.
fair points. I suppose it's a situation where, since I've never heard the footsteps in games anyway (even on very good headsets or speakers in the past), and I don't play CSGO or BR games, I don't really know what I'm missing soundwise.
hyperx stinger and corsair hs50 also exist so the phrase "$50 headset were all crap" is already mitigated

Saw your video and purchased the headset. TBH, I am very disappointed. I played a lot of FPS games and this headset is simply not capable of giving a clear and distinctive directional sound.

Bought these and returned them. The sucked horribly. They can't handle bass for shit. The crack and distorts with all bass about 60% volume and higher. Mids were hollow and the highs were the best while still being quite of a let down. The mic was not bad though Ill give it that

I bought phontum essentials. idk if they have the same drivers. But they sound terrible. Just terrible. A very flat sound And the highs sounds just like distortion. Dont go cheap on audio guys.
No that one has a 40mm driver the normals have a 53mm also a reason of the bad sound could be the device you are using
